Chapter 9, Kreus 101.
----------------------------------------
"So, what's kreus... You said it was like, magical energy..." Reese asked Faceless.
Her and Everett had discovered that being in physical contact allowed for her to fully see and comprehend Faceless.
Now, Everett's hand was on her shoulder, and she was staring at Faceless directly.
"Great question! I had to teach your friend here about it anyway..." Faceless replied, standing in front of the tv, the two watching him from the scorched couch.
"It's, 6:50? There's enough time to explain well enough..." He muttered, lifting his legs off the ground and floating flatly in the air.
"So! Kreus... Kreus is... A direct definition would be, the energy of your mind, body, and soul. It's the energy that is the prominence of your existence. So, less kreus means less intelligence, less size, and less life overall. If you have small kreus, you may be dumber, you may be shorter, you may die much sooner... It's mysterious, though those are the guarantees." He listed, "With more kreus, you may be taller, you may be smarter, you may be quicker, stronger, you may live longer! It's endless possibilities, but of course, this is only with a small amount..."
"When the amount of kreus you have reaches a certain amount, it will start to be detrimental to your existence. Take Praegressus for example. Right now, it is a level zero creature, with an ever evolving and high amount of kreus, so in turn, it's body and mind are forced to continuously evolve to accommodate the massive reserve it has within it's soul. But, eventually, it's mind will grow strong enough, and since its soul is so powerful, it's sixth sense will be incredible, and it will instinctively know what to do to break though to the first level! At that point, I'm sure this continent will be long gone..." Faceless sighed, shaking his head in what seemed to be disappointment.
"Wait a second... Levels?" Everett asked with confusion.
"God! You know not to interrupt me!" Faceless scolded, annoyance laced within his voice. "I hate having to educate you so much on basic things!" He complained like a child.
"We should've just taught you this stuff as a child... But, levels! Yes, levels... At the peak of my life before banishment, I was a level 7 entity, a Galactic Kreuvian! There were billions of stars made of kreus within my existence, and with that much energy in my reserves I can assume you know how powerful I was... But, that's not even the peak of reality, nowhere near it! Akatosh, the Eldratic God I mentioned earlier? It was rumored that he was in the 14th level!" Faceless exclaimed in reverence.
"I know it might sound like I was just as close to him in power as you are to me, but you are greatly mistaken... Long ago, Akatosh was killed in a war and... No that's something you're not strong enough to know..."
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
"Wait, so Akatosh is dead?" Reese raised her hand.
"Did I not say no interrupting?..." Faceless groaned. "No, he's alive! There are powers in this reality that can reverse death like it's a trivial matter... Don't dwell on it!" He exclaimed.
"Back to kreus... Well is there even anything else I can say? I guess so... kreus, once you become a certain level, you can use it to directly interact with the laws of reality... There are countless laws in reality, some are present in some universes, and some not. Though most universes have them in common! Maybe I should educate you on the laws... No I'll save that for a later date... You won't be able to use raw Law energy until the second level if you're truly as talented as I think!"
He really talks a lot... Everett and Reese thought, the words simultaneously sounding in their heads.
They look at each other and chuckled, Faceless not knowing any better.
"But, when you can use kreus to interact with laws, you'll be able to breath fire... kill things with a snap... fly, teleport, turn your skin into metal! If you think it, there is probably a law that governs it that you might be able to tap into to manipulate! Though of course, some of them depend on your talent..." Faceless slowly changed positions, his feet touching down on the ground.
"For now, that should be good enough... That was your little lesson, Kreus 101! I hope it helped!" He hummed, staring straight at the two.
"Well, now I'll let you two get accustomed to your strengths. Though, I assume you eat something fairly quickly, you'll be having an unwelcomed visitor or two!" With those words, Faceless disappeared, Everett and Reese staring at the tv.
"Okay do you want food?" Everett nervously laughed, standing up and walking towards the kitchen.
"Well... shouldn't we get accustomed to our new powers..." Reese turned, perching her arms on the edge of the couch, leaning towards Everett.
"From all the novels I've read, and everything that I've gathered from Faceless, I can safely assume the only thing that's happened is we've gotten stronger and quicker. Maybe our appetites have grown, we think faster, or we can retain information easier.. Though indeed it might be a huge difference from me considering how much kreus I have, for you, you just have a generator that I'm sure you have yet to turn on, so if anything you might be able to just jump a little higher than before." Everett spoke, stopping himself in place as he opened his fridge.
"Wow, mister smarty pants..." Reese smiled interestingly, Everett awkwardly smiling.
"Maybe there is a difference... I don't think I've talked that much in one breath in a while! " Everett smiled brightly, fully opening his refrigerator and looking inside.
"So what is it do you think we can do physically? I'm sure what you said is right since I don't feel the kreus growing inside of me... I'm pretty much a normal person still." Reese dramatically sighed, rolling over on the couch.
"If I had to guess... Our muscles grow denser and more compact while the kreus itself overrules the weight imbalance... Our muscles get bigger and stronger while the weight doesn't truly affect us as much... Certain parts of us get more proficient, like our quick twitch muscles, allowing for quicker maneuverability Our bones should get stronger, and if I had to guess, the kreus would coat it, allowing more damage resistance... To be honest, it seems that the greatest benefit would be the improvement of our sixth sense, because I'm sure I shouldn't just be able to predict this stuff with so much ease..." Everett said confusingly, reaching for the eggs.
"Maybe our memory is more advanced... I know for a fact that I can't cook, but I have this feeling I would be able to make a mean version of my mom's omelet!
