Chapter 7, The Maniac’s Idea.
----------------------------------------
"Yeah, I'm fine, why're you asking?" Everett responded, having not even a clue as to what he should say. "She can help? How?" He whispered to Faceless, who stood off to the side.
"Well... I'm asking because you're floating in the air right now, and I can see lightning- coming off of you!" Reese yelped, stepping back as an arc had almost hit her.
"Plus, you're really hot, like I can see the couch cushion burning under you..." She creeped around the couch, looking at the struggling Everett from at least 7 feet away.
"Tell her to touch you." Faceless muttered.
"Oh lord, this is my greatest idea yet!" He screamed out of nowhere, his hands clawing at his face.
"Do it Everett! Tell her to touch you, right now! This instant, do it!"
"Hey, can you please... just, touch me?" Everett asked through grit teeth.
"Touch you?... How?" Reese asked, slightly afraid.
The situation at hand was utterly confusing, so he could understand.
"In any way! Have her grab your hand for all I care."
"Just, hold my hand?" Everett asked, Reese suspisciously nodding.
She creeped towards him, her hand reached out despite the heat emanating off of him.
"Why am I doing this?..." She muttered under her breath, reaching out in one swift go and grabbing Everett's extended hand.
"What in the fu-" The two exploded in an array of light, purple beams of energy exiting Reese's mouth, eyes, and ears.
"GIAHAHHA! I AM THE BEST!" Faceless shouted, his voice echoing throughout the room.
Everett’s mind could only focus on the question ringing throughout his head.
Did he betray me?
He asked himself as he felt the fire in his body growing larger and more rampant.
He stared at Reese, floating in the air before him, her hair reaching out in every direction like they were tentacles.
Sparks of purple electricity escaped the corner of her mouth as he felt his flame glowing even harder, as if it was going to blow at any moment.
"What are you doing. Keep it circulating it. You can't mess this up." Faceless said in his ear, Everett's face lighting up with pain and determination.
Right, I need to keep circulating. If I can live maybe I can help her with my new power.
Everett's mind was ablaze, but he looked deep into himself. He shut his eyes, and forced with all his might. With all his desire. With all his will.
He wished for the glowing sun within himself to move, to turn into a ever flowing river that didn't stop for anything.
Fortunately, his will seemed to be strong enough, as out of nowhere, the ball of energy started to unravel. The slow stream turned into a raging river that sped through his body. It circled throughout him, going down his arm on one side and coming back up through the other.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
The energy spread entirely throughout his body, warming up his every corner to a nice degree.
Then, once the kreus reached the hand in which he was connected with Reese, it pushed through.
His eyes snapped open as he felt it scour her body, cycling through hers as it did his.
Then, out of nowhere, he felt another energy join his own. It cycled throughout her body, assisting him in his accidental journey. Then, a portion of the energy broke through the barrier of her skin, flowing into his body, and flowing in the opposite direction.
It was like yin and yang.
The energy in her body slowly shifted course, her energy flowing one way, and his another, and the same for inside of his body.
"Keke, a dual awakening!" Everett heard Faceless cackle.
"Now, the extra mile!" Faceless screamed, a strange but all too familiar feeling overpowering all of Everett’s senses.
He was forced out of his own body, his conscience ejected into the spiritual world.
Though, what greeted him was a massive surprise.
“Everett, what the fuck is happening.” Reese asked him, her ethereal body floating in front of him.
”Why are you here…” He mumbled to himself.
“Ehem, because of yours truly!” Faceless said, both of them turning to face him, Everett having to double take at the act.
”You can see him?” He questioned.
”Did you really think I couldn’t do something as trivial as communicating with spiritual bodies? You truly don’t believe in my ability do you! That’s disappointing Mister E!” Faceless exclaimed, Reese’s face altering to that of one displaying horror, and awkwardly, pure awe.
”What the fuck! You’re Faceless aren’t you?!” Reese shouted, beyond confusion.
“Great observation! Now listen, I need you two to hold hands, and I need you to circulate both your kreus, and hers, Everett.” Faceless spoke slightly sternly.
”Circulate it through both your souls the same why it circulated through your bodies.” He commanded, grabbing both of their arms and bringing their hands together.
”What’s kreus?! What is he talking about? What’s going on Everett?!” Reese pushed, urging to know the answers.
“Oh my god what is happening to me… Can this day get anymore weird?” She let out a forced laugh, trying to calm herself down.
”Yes! In fact, it will! Believe it…” Faceless let out words that Reese didn’t enjoy hearing, but she couldn’t truly focus on him.
”You’ll have to trust us in this… I’m not exactly sure why this is happening either, but what I do know is that the ugly monster next to us has been with me since I was a kid… I still don’t trust him completely, but I don’t think anything bad will happen.” Everett nodded to her, somehow sweating even though he was a phantom.
Now that she thought about it, how exactly did she have all her senses? Faceless had said this was her spiritual body right? So how was her soul, smelling, feeling, seeing, and feeling right now?
Instinctively, her nose twitched, and her eyes squinted, her neck craning towards Faceless.
In response, the ever jubilant creature’s shoulders sank.
“IT’S ALREADY WORKING EVERETT, GET ON WITH IT! CIRCULATE IT, CULTIVATE YOUR KREUS.” Faceless randomly roared. It was here, that for the first time, Everett noticed a large eye appear on Faceless’ face.
It opened widely, staring at the two, it’s gaze cycling between them.
”What are you talking about?!” Everett asked, grabbing Reese’s other arm and closing her eyes.
”Oh nothing, she just unlocked her sixth sense even faster than you did. Oh, and might I add, it took me about a day to unlock mine, and I was a genius that appeared less than a hundred times in the lifespan of my universe.” Faceless said carelessly, acting as if what he said wasn’t mind blowing.
Huh? Everett said in his mind. Though, he decided to leave the questions behind him for a moment, and focused on cultivating instead.
This time, he circulated his energy throughout every crevice of his body, finding it surprisingly moved many times quicker than before.
Like last time, he allowed his kreus to travel into Reese, but unlike the last, her energy did not actively seek him out. He had to use his kreus to scour her body for her energy source, and then forcefully dismantle the energy construct, guiding it through her body against his flow.
It was like a line of people walking forward while holding people above their heads and pushing them backwards.
Though of course, it was infinitely more difficult.
While he did this, Reese was simply stuck to her own devices, her host simply secluding himself in his own little world.
Of course, she was too afraid and confused to spark conversation with Faceless.
After all, he was a creature straight out of nightmares.
“Can someone please tell me what’s going on…”
