Chapter 8, The Truth.

----------------------------------------

Everett focused as hard as he could, feeling Reese's hands twitch.

"What are you feeling?" He asked through grit teeth, the raging rivers of kreus in their body not stopping whatsoever.

"It's really warm?... What are you doing to me?" She responded, Everett frowning.

"I'm... I'm circulating your life force throughout your body?... I guess that's how it can be explained.."

Faceless stood off to the side, examining the two intensely.

Everett's eye peeked at him, confusingly watching the strange faceless entity that was no longer so faceless.

"What do you have me doing right now?" Everett asked Faceless, the tall entity stepping towards them.

"I wonder if I should tell you... You will find out soon! Right now actually..." Faceless responded, backing away as something strange happened.

Out of nowhere, energy started to build up in Everett and Reese's palms.

"Okay, that doesn't seem very-"

Spark!

Their hands separated, electricity bouncing from between them.

"Now what's happening..." Reese asked worriedly.

BOOM!

A large shockwave knocked the two away, nausea overtaking them. For the two, the world turned black, and it felt as if they were spinning endlessly in space.

But, in the next instant, light broke through, and they were back in their bodies.

Reese laid on the floor, her long black hair spread out along the ground.

Everett on the other hand, he had awoken standing straight up on the couch, though, he instantly fell backwards as he wasn't expecting it.

He tumbled onto the floor behind the couch, swiftly getting up and rubbing the back of his head.

"Holy fuck." He mumbled, pulling his head down to his front side, gazing into his palms.

He flexed his fists, opening and closing them.

Deep inside his body, he felt a strange... signature.

A small piece that seemed to be connected to his soul, and instinctively, he tugged on it.

His vision warped around him, and in the next instant, he was lying on the ground, blankly staring at the ceiling.

There was a complex amount of emotions surging through him, confusion, fright, exhaustion, sadness, and even excitement being some of them he could comprehend.

"What the hell is that..." He felt his mouth move, his hands grabbing his head.

He felt an abrupt pressure overwhelm him, his vision switching back over to standing and facing his living room tv.

He glanced down over the couch, watching as Reese sat up and stared at him.

"I'm so unbelievably smart!" Faceless exclaimed, Everett's gaze turning towards him.

Once again, Reese's gaze surprisingly did too, her eyes squinting as she stared at where the creature was.

"Is Faceless there?... I-I can't really see him, but I just heard that..." Promptly, she jumped to her feet, her head whipping straight back towards Everett.

"Okay seriously. Tell me what's happening." She said worriedly, exhaustion plastered over her face.

"And... why do I feel so different?" She mumbled, looking at her palms and flexing her fists just as Everett had done before.

"I can explain that!" Faceless vocalized, his finger lifted in the air.

"Well actually, I can explain it all..." He mumbled, "In simple words, Mister Everett here isn't schizophrenic. He just has abilities that no other human, nor life form has! You can consider me, and all the other entities he sees as... Super knowledgeable, age old wizards... And we're here to make Mister Everett the greatest and strongest creature in this universe! And if we don't... everything you know will perish!" Faceless informed, Reese's expression constantly altering as her gaze altered between the corner of the room and Everett himself.

"The apocalypse has already started! That monster you saw, Praegressus, you can say it is the bringer of the apocalypse... Soon, gateways to other worlds will open, low rank creatures will jump through, killing people and aiming to break this universe more than it already has. People will evolve, as the Gods will try to use them as conduits to break more laws, like that of the law of age..." Faceless trailed off.

"Anyway, when we first saw you, there was something up! We could tell at just a glance... but of course, we can't do much as we have been banished, cursed, all of it... But, by spending enough time with you, I uncovered the small mystery...." He said, moving from his position and bringing his face close to Reese's.

Though she couldn't see him, she could surely feel the monster's breath.

"You, my lady, are a Kreus Reactor!" Faceless said, swiftly backing away from Reese and jumping up and down with his hands phasing through the roof each time.

Of course, Reese didn't understand what that meant, not even Everett did.

"Oh right, uneducated mortals... In the infinite reality, there is an ancient species, they're known as the Eldrids! And, at the peak of these people, lie the Eldratic Gods. Three of the most powerful beings in existence! One of them, is Akatosh a lesser clone of the greatest Eldrid, but, a clone born with a powerful cheat. The Kreus Reactor Core! Unlike all creatures, that can only gain kreus from the world, he is able to produce it himself, at an incredible rate at that..."

"In simple words, you're an infinite generator of magical energy, and I couldn't pass that up! So, consequently, I bound you two together. You two are soul tied, you exist together! He can take kreus from you, you can take kreus from him. He can see your thoughts, you can see his. You both can communicate with each other over an infinite distance. You both even share your talents! So now, he has a miniature Kreus Reactor Core, though not as efficient as yours. And you? Well... let's just say you have an infinite talent for everything now... Amongst other things of course... On top of all that, when the Gods come and evolve those with abundant kreus, you two will both evolve different things but you should be able to use each other's abilities..." Faceless finished, nearly out of breath.

"AREN'T I AMAZING? PRAISE ME!" He shouted, two staring at him with their jaws dropped.

"Though, I'd prefer if you didn't get mad Reese, you would have surely died tonight if not for me... Your talent would have been lost in the annals of reality for the rest of time! You truly cannot blame me for what I have done... And look on the brightside, now you have a chance to see your parents again! You can even live a full life, have kids, do whatever! Literally anything! Well, of course only if you assist Everett in his journey... If you don't want to, I can just take your life away and harvest the undamaged part of your soul so that I can give Everett a portion of your talent...."

"Faceless. What are you saying." Everett said sternly, "There will be no murdering." He sighed, looking towards the... well, he really couldn't put an emotion to Reese's face.

"I get it, it's a lot, I'm so-"

"Huh, it sounds like maybe I have a reason to live now..." She smiled, tears forming in her eyes. "I really don't know if I can handle this, but it's definitely better than killing myself." She mumbled.

"W-What do you mean?" Everett nervously asked, stepping closer to Reese who just took a seat on his couch.

"Did you know my mom was pregnant? I was supposed to be a big sister... Even though my dad was 50, she was only in her thirties! She still had so much time to live you know... I'm sure if you didn't happen to fall asleep in a car earlier today, I would've kept walking towards that... Praegressus." She dug her hands into her face.

"I know it's dumb, but... I don't know... What life is there left to live if there's no one to share it with? I have no friends, no family anymore, college wasn't working out. Really, I'm kind of weird for being so trusting of a random guy I've only known for a few months... Really, we only spoke for the first time, like for real, only last night. I barely know anything about you besides trivial stuff... "

Everett kneeled in front of her, awkwardly taking her into his arms.

"No, get off me." She stammered, pushing Everett away and standing to her feet.

"I'm completely fine, I don't need hugs! I'm not weak, I told you... I can handle the world ending, what's so taxing about that?" She chuckled, wiping her tears.

"Y-You know it's okay to be a little... broken, right?" Everett said, straightening up.

"I'm sure I'd be devastated if I had something to live for before all this... I'm... a lonely guy, the world ending in my eyes is a blessing..." He chuckled, Reese letting out an exhale of laughter in response.

"So, cry. It's okay, I don't know if it was your parents who made you think it wasn't okay to be, not okay... but, it is. So cry, I'm not gonna judge you, if anything, I'll judge you for being perfectly fine with everything you know now..." Everett smiled, opening his arms wide for Reese, who stood directly in front of him.

Her fists balled by her sides, there was a conflicted look on her face. Her lip bit, with tears forming in the corners of her eyes.

"Maybe you're better with people than I thought." She exhaled, wrapping her arms around his stomach and digging her face into his chest, a laugh escaping alongside a flurry of tears.

"Well... I had a great mom, so thank her I guess.."
