Chapter 80: Ancient Golems, Part 4

Boom!

The explosion from the enhanced of the Humanoid Golem created dust and debris in all directions.

Lina: "Lord Idmon! Noooo! No..."

Lina fell to her knees and started crying.

Bon: "No, this cannot be! Lord Idmon!"

The blast's energy output was sufficient to kill Idmon. He could've defended against it if he had access to negative energy.

Granpa: "That can't be right. He's the Lord Idmon. How could this happen?"

Lina walked closer to where the explosion was, even though it was dangerous because the humanoid golem was still there.

Bon: "Lina, stop!"

Lina: "Lord Idmon! (cries)"

She tried to get closer, but suddenly the dust cleared up, and they could see what was happening.

Bon: "!? How!?"

Idmon was alive and well. More like intact since he's undead.

His appearance was more sinister than before. There were skulls on his shoulders, and his helmet had more spikes than before.

The thickness of his

He was able to defend himself by using a combination of and .

Idmon: "(t) Sorry about that. It was hard to channel a huge amount of energy in a short time."

Idmon had achieved a higher level of control with his negative energies and the Void.

Lina released a relieved sigh and backed away since the fight was still on.

Humanoid Golem: "Error. Extermination is not possible. Searching for a new method."

The golem was confused that his perfect execution did not destroy Idmon.

Idmon: "(t) Here's a little revenge for me!"

!

A fist from a skeleton golem from the Void came out of a portal and struck the humanoid golem.

Boom!

Humanoid Golem: "Zzzt. zzt."

The attack's force threw its body a couple of meters away, and parts of its armor were now broken.

Bon: "How were you able to use negative energy, Lord Idmon?"

Idmon: "Try using it now. Someone must have turned off the anti-magic gem."

Bon used towards Granpa, and it worked. It healed the cracks on the bones of Granpa.

Bon: "You're right."

(Hos POV)

While Idmon was fighting the failed golem, Hos was frantically trying to turn off the anti-magic gem by going to the area and destroying the gem.

Hos: "Hoo! I hope I made it in time."

Hos summoned a screen where he could see the battle and was relieved that he had made it.

Hos: "That's good. I can't let a great specimen like Idmon die. Even though anti-magic gems are hard to create, I still have some in my storage."

Hos looked a bit disappointed while holding the broken gem in his hand.

(Idmon POV)

I have to end this now before it adapts to my new fighting style.

My manipulation of negative energy is much easier now, and my body feels lighter. It must've been the suppression of magic and negative energy that was lifted.

Multiple spears from the Void came out and attacked the Humanoid Golem.

Humanoid Golem: "Registering a new type of attack."

It says that while dodging the spells without fail,.

Idmon: "Of course, that's not all."

!

Six afterimages appeared in front of the Golem and made the same attack.

!

It is the same as the "Leaping Thrust" that I previously used to attack the Golem cores, but this time, negative energy boosted it.

Humanoid Golem: "Calculating outcome... Defeat!"

It dodged the wrong attack from my afterimages, and I hit it dead center in the head. Where I assumed its core was located.

Idmon: "(t) Did I get it?"

The humanoid golem was now lifeless, and there was no movement nor trace of magic energy.

Bon: "I think you've destroyed the core, Lord Idmon!"

Idmon: "(t) Finally!"

I raised my spear in victory. However, it was not yet done.

Humanoid Golem: "Entering Phase 2"

The lifeless golem moved again and released a shockwave that pushed me away to create some space.

Some kind of gem came out of its head. You can see on its head that the core was destroyed; however, the shining gem was still intact.

The humanoid transformed into something unexpected.

Light from the weird gem covered its entire body and changed it.

What came out was similar to a human's body. But it had no hair, and its color was white. It was something like a mannequin.

Humanoid Golem: "I have achieved the perfect form. Prepare to lose."

Idmon: "(t) As if I'd let you win!"

!

I summoned more spears to distract him, and I set up my attack.

The ghostly spears went straight for the golem.

!

Before it reached the golem, the spears scattered in all directions and flew towards him.

Now you won't be able to dodge!

And to make sure that it's destroyed, I used

Humanoid Golem: "This is too easy."

It swatted the spears in one smooth motion like a tornado, and when the Skeleton Giant's hand reached him, it stopped the attack by using its armguard.

Crush! Crack!

The skeletal fist was broken into pieces because of the tremendous force that recoiled back at it.

Idmon: "(t) What the hell? That's no ordinary fist! It's from a Skeleton Giant!"

This means that the golem has physical strength greater than that of a skeleton giant.

Humanoid Golem: "Who said that I'm only strong physically?"

It seemed like it read my mind and started blasting from its hand.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The blasts were stronger now, and they came in quick succession. Unlike before, when it fired, it had to be charged before it could be used again.

! !

I summoned many bones from the Void to create a thick wall and coated it with negative energy.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Idmon: "When is this guy going to stop!?"

!

Lina suddenly casts a powerful ice spell from afar to trap the humanoid golem, but...

Humanoid Golem: "I can see your intent from a mile away."

Before you attack, and before you even think about attacking, the perfect golem knows.

Humanoid Golem: "There is no way for you guys to win this fight."

Bon: "Fool! Know your place!"

! ! !

Three magic attacks of different elements flew towards the Humanoid Golem, and it did not attempt to dodge.

Humanoid Golem: "!"

It absorbed the spells with the gem on its head like it was nothing.

Idmon: "(t) Earlier it was magic suppression, but now you also have ?"

Damn, this golem had everything figured out. How could we beat this guy?"

.

.

.

(Hos POV)

What the hell is that?

Hos was confused about where that failure of a golem acquired that gem on its core.

It's a one-in-a-million type of gem, and it's something that Hos hid in his secret storage.

Hos: "It cannot be! Did that stupid Eki take it from my storage!?"

Hos ran quickly to his secret room and checked his secret stash. And to his surprise, it was gone.

The fool! I know he's also a creator, but Eki was stupid to put that gem into a failed golem.

He must've thought it would save the failed project, but the doesn't work that way.

Hos: "It would definitely provide unmatched power in predicting enemy moves, however..."

A golem body that is capable of housing it is yet to be made.

That thing can only last for a few minutes.

.

.

.

(Idmon POV)

Idmon: "(t) Keep attacking it! Make sure our attacks come after one another so it won't have time to dodge."

Bon: "Got it!"

Lina: "Yes, Lord Idmon!"

Multiple spells from Bon and Lina and non-stop assaults from Idmon and Granpa kept the humanoid golem at bay.

Granpa: "How can this thing dodge every damn attack?"

Dodge. Dodge. Dodge. Parry.

It dodges attacks with minimal movement and moves without any wasted effort.

Idmon: "(t) How about this! !"

A portal to the Void opened beneath the Humanoid Golem, and countless skeleton arms tried to hold it down.

Lina: "He's immobilized! Go! !"

Lina took advantage of what's happening and frozen the Golem in place.

Bon: "Time to end this, Lord Idmon!"

Idmon: "(t)Yes. Here we go! !"

From the same portal where the skeleton arms are coming from, the head of a skeleton giant came out and swallowed the frozen humanoid golem.

Bon: "!"

There would be no way for the golem to escape from Bon's potent magic with its multiple skills immobilized.

Humanoid Golem: "."

Boom!

The golem was free from its shackles and moved away very quickly before the < disintegration ray hit it.

Idmon: "(t) This guy won't let up. I'm running out of negative energy for spells."

Bon: "Same for me."

Humanoid Golem: "I told you, everything I do is calculated. You have no chance of winning."

Did it stutter?

Granpa: "What?"

Humanoid: "No-no-no need for fofo-fo-fo."

Steam came out of the golem as if it kept it inside, and the pressure was too much to hold on. Its skin broke down, and it went back to its golem appearance.

Idmon: "(t) So much for the Perfect Golem, huh?"

The Humanoid Golem stopped, and that seems to be the end of it. The gem was still glowing, but the body looks like it wore itself out.

Hos: "Congratulations!"

Out of nowhere, Hos pops out and congratulates us.

Hos: "You have passed the trial! And thanks for taking care of the failure."

Idmon: "(t) I almost died there. Was that part of the trial?"

Hos: "Hmm? Yeah! Yeah, that was definitely part of it. Yes. Let me just take back this gem. Thank you."

Hos suspiciously took the gem from the humanoid golem and put it in his pocket.

Hos: "Now that's over, I guess you'll be taking our Golems into battle."

Idmon: "Actually, I have something else in mind."

Hos: "Eh!?"

Idmon: "I noticed that this last golem did not function as it was supposed to, so I assume that this was a mistake."

Hos: "Wh-what are you talking about!? Hehehe."

Idmon: "(t) You owe us for killing that malfunctioning Golem of yours or for holding out this long."

Hos: "I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about."

Idmon: "(t) I mean, I'm offering you a simple deal. Do me a favor and build more golems for me to train with so I can become stronger."

Hos: "What do I even get in return!? Why would I accept that?"

Bon: "We don't think you're the only one here, Hos."

Granpa: "My ancestors definitely mentioned Creators, not Creators only.”

Idmon: "So what we will do is keep our mouths shut about this incident and your failure. Not a bad deal, eh?"

Hos: "You!"

Hos could just try to fight them and kill them before they get out of the temple, but that'll be too costly for him.

The thought of how many golems he would lose and the possibility of him being killed discouraged him from doing it. After all, Hos is just a creator who specializes in gems and golems.

Where are those warmongering creators when you need them?

Idmon: "So, what will it be?"

Idmon took out his from his , and he opened a big portal to the Void where the sounds of skeletons moving could be heard.

Hos: "All right. All right. Close that thing. I'll let you train with my golems."

It would just be temporary, he thought to himself. And he wanted to study the fighting styles and behavior of these undead creatures.

Idmon: "(t) Good. Granpa, tell the others we have succeeded in recruiting the Golems to our cause. And we'll be training here in the meantime. Have them send a messenger to us when the fight is coming."

Granpa: "I got it. Lord Idmon."

Granpa nodded as Hos led him out of the temple.

Idmon, Bon, and Lina trained hard for weeks and months in the temple to improve themselves. During this time, Granpa and other dwarves went into the temple with the permission of Hos to improve their crafts.

Also, Idmon's other trusted soldiers, Souta's squad, are on another mission.

To infiltrate the humans's territory and find the remnants of the Beast Kingdom.
