Chapter 25: Alliance

Chapter 25: Alliance

We have a camp set up close to the goblin’s vast army.

I saw Dolf with a small group of dwarven warriors speaking to Lina when we returned.

Dolf: “Idmon-dono. I believe you already know the situation, and we need your help. Still, thank you for striking them now and then.”

Dono? I was oblivious to the word. Which language is that? By the way, Dolf looked different from the rest of the dwarves. They said the berserkers looked different from regular dwarves.

He had almost slit eyes and fair skin, unlike the average dwarf, who is brown-skinned and has round eyes.

Anyway, moving forward.

Idmon: “Yes, has the king decided to speak with us?”

Dolf: “He said he would hear you out, and from the looks of it, he is willing to ally. But first, we need to take out this army.”

Idmon: “(t) We’ll do our best, but the rest of our army is still on the way. We’ll make do with hit and run when the battle starts.”

“Any help is welcome, Idmon-dono”

We moved out after that. We are steadily following the movement of the goblin army.

Strange, though. The goblins don’t even look alarmed. Their eyes are like the eyes of a dead fish. They looked like zombies with puppet strings.

Something weird is at work here; there is always something. The hell with this world?

Idmon: “Dolf, you should get someone to relay the message that we will attack from behind.”

Dolf: “Got it. Hey, you go back quickly.”

A dwarven warrior started running after the order. They are swift, even in heavy armor.

.

After a few hours of following, we arrived at the front of the capital. Massive walls protect the city. You have to look up to see the highest point. Unbelievable. They made this?

This was an entrance to a cave where the rest of the capital lies.

The goblin army set up their siege camp a mile or two away.

They are preparing for a siege.

The goblins even have siege towers, cannons, and battering rams. It’s like a real army.

I thought I read about these goblins, and also Pen the vampire said that these guys are stupid and that the problem was coming from their numbers.

The dwarven side does not give them the time to set up, though. The dwarves also have cannons and ballistae stationed at the wall.

Dwarven commander: “Open fire!”

Projectiles and explosives rain on the goblins. For a moment there, I thought that this should be taken care of.

.

I heard someone cast a spell.

The attack from the dwarves’ defenses was repelled easily.

Multiple groups of goblin mages are maintaining the barrier.

Fortunately, I made that last move earlier.

Idmon: “(t) Dolf...”

I got Dolf’s attention while he was watching the events with a grim expression.

Idmon: “(t) I know that a lot of your people don’t believe in me being able to save your race. However, I will let you be the witness to the salvation I bring.”

I raised my hand in the air.

I made a magic circle. It was floating and glowing a bright purple.

.

The next moment was like the end of the world.

The barrier that the goblins were maintaining turned red in an instant. And then black like smoke. Then comes the magic shield.

The explosions inside the barrier were too much and destroyed everything that’s inside.

Chain explosions echoed in the area. It was like the large-scale spell that the Demon Lord used to cast every time he started a war.

Dolf: “Was that... !?”

Even though the storage crystals were not capable of producing that much damage, the additional explosives from the Goblin camp made it possible to look like the spell.

He could not believe what he had seen. More than half of the goblin army was obliterated.

They only have around 3000 now. But a lot of them are still made up of various monsters.

The goblin part of the army was the one that was hit most. The parts that controlled the monsters were mostly intact.

Those outside their barrier also survived since the blast was contained inside.

GO!

The gates of the wall were opened, and the battle cry of the dwarves could be heard. We need to hit them as hard as we can while they are disorganized.

Dwarves then charge from their sides with the covering fire of cannons and ballistae.

Hobgoblins fall one after another. Trolls receive the cannonballs and get weakened.

Ogres are enormous creatures, but they have soft skin. Most of them died from the coming from the ballistae.

We’re looking good. Charge!

Now, while they’re busy, we charge from our side.

While running, Dolf removed his upper armor and looked like he would go into berserk mode.

The dwarven army was at least 1000, so they are putting up a good fight against the remaining enemy forces.

Now, spells first.

I harassed them with a continued cast of coming from one of the staff that I brought.

Lina also rained on them with multiple spells. It froze groups of 20 or 15 every time it hit.

Then Dolf entered the fray. He started spinning while holding his axes.

He cut the heads of any goblins that came in range. He also hit some legs belonging to trolls and ogres, bringing them down.

Now we’re taking them down at a good pace. After a few minutes, I believe we already took out 1000 of them. 2000 left.

I remembered suddenly that they had behemoths, right?

Then a roar was heard. Groups of dwarves started flying all over the place. They were being knocked away.

My goblin skeletons did their jobs aside from all this. Taking down injured enemies and picking up items.

What to do with this group?

While I was thinking, another roar could be heard.

It was going in our direction. I had the skeletons move away and tried to stop the Behemoth by throwing a lot of spells and spears, but it still wouldn’t stop.

I stabbed the ground and held on tightly to my spear.

At the next moment, a sound of two huge things ramming into each other could be heard. It was like two giants fighting each other.

And it was.

A tall shadow was looming over us. I thought it was the Behemoth who wanted to crush us under sheer weight.

But when I looked up,

It was a Skeletal Behemoth, and on top of it, a Skeleton Wizard!?

It was wearing an awesome-looking cape that seemed to be made out of pure negative energy.

The behemoth that was heading our way was knocked out a few meters away from my position.

Whoo! We could have died there.

By the way, isn’t that a bonus?

Bon: “(t) Milord! We have arrived!”

Idmon: “(t) Bon!? Where did you get this beast? Also, how did you get to look awesome like that? Wearing a cape and all.”

Bon: “(t) Milord, while I was doing your task of producing an army for you with the skill, I evolved into a Skeleton Wizard and brought forth a specialized summon. I also got some other summons from the void.”

When I looked around, we had some huge bone golems that were clashing with the trolls and ogres. We also have the hobgoblin skeletons and a lot more goblin skeletons.

We are now around 300!

Idmon: “(t) Amazing… I guess it’s time to show our worth as allies.”

I jumped and climbed on top of the Bone Behemoth.

The knocked-out Behemoth is still alive, so we charged it.

And this bone behemoth had horns on its head. It pierced the body of the defenseless Behemoth.

Behemoth: “Ugahhh….”

After a small whimper, it died.

Now, after that, everything went smoothly. We were massacring the remaining goblins.

Lina did an excellent job, too. She killed the other Behemoth by herself.

She augmented an Ice Spear spell with multiple storage crystals.

The ice spear started as a small one, but as she crushed storage crystals and redirected the energies to the ice spear, the size increased exponentially.

Her spell was so powerful that the Behemoth’s corpse was unrecognizable.
