I asked some people on the street where I could find potions and they directed me to a potion shop.
I soon reached the shop. It was a big building almost the same size as the adventurer association and it hardly looked like a shop. It looked more like an official building.
I apprehensively opened the door and entered. There were a few people inside wearing a different type of uniform. But they didn't pay any heed to me and were busy talking among themselves. I saw a receptionist desk at the end of the hall and made my way there. A neatly dressed person with glasses was browsing through some papers. He looked up as soon as he noticed me approaching.
"Hello, welcome to the Alchemy guild. My name is Matir. How can I help you today?"
I see. It's an Alchemy guild.
"Uh, I was looking to sell potions."
"Sure, we buy potions. May I have your registration card?"
I took out my adventurer card and passed it to him.
"Oh, I was asking for the registration card for the Alchemy guild."
He quickly swiped the card in the same terminal like contraption as the one in the adventurer association.
"It doesn't look like you're registered with us."
"Yes, I have not yet registered," I said.
"In that case, I can register you. Would you like me to do that?"
"Yes, please. That'd be helpful."
"The identification card will not change. I will enter the details of the registration inside the system and add the registration for the Alchemy guild onto this card." He explained.
"Alright."
I waited as he worked on the screen embedded into his desk. He swiped the card a few times and then he motioned for me.
"Please place your hand here."
I did as I was told and like the skill verification, the screen glowed green.
"Alright, it's done. You will be able to use this card to identify yourself as a member of the Alchemy guild anywhere on this continent." He said.
"Thank you." I took the card from him and saw that a thick green line had been added just below the three gold colored lines.
"Now, could you please show me the potions?"
"Ah, yes."
I took them out of the item box and showed it to him. There were 10 vials of potion.
Though he was a little startled by the item box and the containers, he soon regained his composure.
"Thank you. Please allow me a few moments." He said and went somewhere through a door behind the reception area.
He soon came back.
"It has been verified. So you have ten potions of A grade quality. The total will come to 30 gold coins with 3 gold coins per bottle. We'll also buy the empty bottles at 1 gold coin each."
"Th-The bottles?"
"It seems the guild master has taken a liking to them and advised me to buy them at all costs." After saying that he pushed his glasses up staring at me intently.
"I-I see. S-Sure I'll sell them to you."
"That's good. Thank you." He bowed.
It seems it was better to sell potions to make money when in need of it.
"Thank you". I said after taking the amount from him which was in a small pouch.
"Please be sure to visit us again." He smiled and bowed again.
I came out of the building and started walking towards the inn. The road was slowly getting deserted as the night fell on the city.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
(Airi, good thing we didn't sell the undiluted potions.)
(Master, the purity of those were hundred percent. I'm sure you would have become famous if you had sold them.)
(Sigh, I just want to live a burden free life. Being famous is not one of the goals. It comes with a lot of baggage.)
(….......)
I could suddenly feel a cold breeze hit me and shivered.
-----
I woke up early the next day and got ready.
(Wow, master.)
(What! I can wake up early if needed!)
(I.....didn't say anything.....)
I was ready to leave for Astrya.
I opened the shop window and saw that my balance was around 60 thousand GB. I searched for a vehicle to take me to Astrya. The price of the cars were too high so I started looking for a bike.
Going around a fantasy world in a bike seemed like a great way to start the journey.
Most of them were priced above 100 thousand GB. After looking through the list, I finally selected a Japanese sports bike. The price was around 130 thousand GB. I also searched for fuel and they were selling them for 100 GB per litre.
Alright, this should do it. I should purchase the bike when I'm out of the city and a little further away. With that, I got ready to leave the inn. I came downstairs and had the same breakfast. I informed the innkeeper that I'd be emptying my room and would not need it tonight so that they can rent it out to someone else. She asked me if I was leaving the city and I affirmed. After a few pleasantries, I came out of the inn.
It was almost afternoon and the roads were filled with people shopping and buying lunches. There were guards roaming the streets, keeping an eye on the people. A few groups of adventurers were also walking along the road probably going to the association or for a quest.
I already had lunch so I leisurely walked towards the gate.
As I was getting closer to the gate, I could see a group of people crowding near the gate. Eva was there along with a few people wearing armors and carrying weapons. I assumed they were adventurers. It looked like they were going for a quest.
Eva noticed me and came running.
"Rayce, how have you been?"
"I've been great. What about you? I haven't seen you since the day we had dinner." I said.
"I had been going on quests everyday trying to catch upto you. You know."
"Aha-haha. I don't think I'm that great, to be honest."
"What are you saying. You took down five bohloks single handedly while I was only running from them."
"Haha. So, what are you doing here. Are you going for a quest?"
"Yes, there seems to be a pack of bohloks running around the forest and they have come dangerously close to some villages. The association has requested a few of the adventurers to take care of it."
"I see. Please be careful."
"Haha, don't worry. I'm not the same I was a few days back. Also I have a great party." She said while punching my shoulder.
"Looks like it." I could see around fifteen adventurers in that party.
"By the way, are you going for a quest as well?" Eva asked.
"Uh, no. I think my time here is up. I'm thinking of going to Astrya."
"Astrya, why?"
"As you know I'm a traveller. I coincidentally reached this city. And now that I know more about the places in the continent, I want to see as many places as possible."
"I'm jealous," She said pouting.
"Haha, don't be. I'm sure you will soon be able to establish yourself in the capital as an adventurer. We can meet again."
"Yes!" she said with a determined look clenching her fist.
"Would you like me to drop you off somewhere. We are going in a carriage towards the forest."
"No, I have some work nearby. So I'll have to go on my own. But thank you for the offer." I smiled and said.
"Of course. We are friends now. Aren't we!"
"Ye-yes"
"You better not forget me!"
Then she hugged me suddenly with her face red.
"Th-then I'll see you again." She said fidgeting.
"Ye-yeah. See you Eva!"
(Master, it looks like a big loss to go to Astrya)
I could hear the amusement in her voice.
(Wh-what do you mean?)
(Oh, you don't need to be so shy!)
Eva kept waving her hand until she reached her group while I smiled and waved back. It looked like they were ready to leave and sure enough, Eva got into the carriage as soon as she reached them and the carriage rolled out of the gate with the adventurers.
I showed my identification card at the gate and soon I was let out of the city and began walking on the road that led away from the city.
I soon reached a fork on the road with three roads intersecting.
(Airi, please find the best route towards Astrya.)
(I have already done so.)
She showed me the map. Looks like I'll have to go through Glaecia, the capital of this country. I hope I don't get ambushed by bandits. Hendrick talked about how banditry had become a big problem nowadays with mages and swordmasters mixed in with them.
(Alright.)
I opened the shop window and purchased the bike. It was a black and red variant and it shone in the sunlight giving an almost radiant aura against the medieval backdrop. I bought the oil and filled up the tank and started the engine. It hummed to life.
I bought a jacket to shield myself from the cold air. Then I put on the helmet I'd bought from the shop and got on. I put it in gear and slowly rolled the throttle. The bike started moving.
(Oh-ohhh, I feel it. The wings of a rider!)
(Master! Stop acting like a child!)
(Haha. I can't help it. This feeling, I haven't felt it for almost 8 years)
In my previous life, after joining work, I had to mostly take taxis and the subway to work. I didn't have a chance to ride the bike for quite a while.
I soon reached another fork in the road. The roads were paved well, so there were no issues with riding the bike and the suspension did the rest of the work in case the road was bad.
The only issue was the stares that I was getting from some passersby. I thought I would be stopped but they didn't pay any attention after looking at me once.
Was the bike so common here?
(They probably think you are a mad magician who's trying out new inventions.)
(I-I don't agree with that!)
(Doesn't matter.....)
(…......)
(By the way, how long do you think it will take at this speed?)
(It will take around 8 hours to reach Glaecia and then another 8 hours to reach Astrya. If you had walked it would have taken 15 days.)
(Hmm....I guess we are making good speed.)
I came upon a few villages on the way but I avoided stopping in any of them.
I saw tall mountains reaching the sky, lakes with water so clear you could see the bottom, large trees with its tip obscured by fog and strange animals running around.
The sound of the bike probably scared the monsters so I didn't encounter any.
