(Master!!)
(Alright, alright. I'm getting up)
It was a chilly morning. I opened the window and saw that it was raining outside. I stretched and cleaned myself up.
I would have to buy a set of clothes today. I was wearing the same attire the goddess gave me when I was dropped into this world. I thought it'd have some powers but they were just your average set of clothes.
Alright, let's do that. I also had to meet the tower master later today. I made the plans.
I checked my clothes for any dirt and cleaned it with magic. Then made my way down.
It was the fourth day of the week. This world followed the same time format as Earth though the names were different. It had thirteen months in a year and the current year was 1267th year of the Homer cycle. It had four seasons as well. All of these information filled my head.
In the seating area downstairs, there were a few customers having breakfast. Milena saw me and beckoned for me to sit at an empty table. She brought tea and a loaf of bread with a stew. I smelled the tea and it smelled different. I took a sip. I guess they don't have tea leaves here. It was made with something else but it wasn't bad. I finished the breakfast and made my way towards the adventurer association.
Even though it was raining, people were out and about. They had umbrellas and raincoats and were going about their business.
I cast a spell to keep myself dry. I soon reached the association.
Today as well, Reina was managing the reception desk. And she was talking to a few adventurers. I waited in line. When it was my turn, she greeted me with a smile.
"Good morning, Rayce. Here's the amount for the wolves and the materials."
She gave me 2 gold coins and 50 silver coins.
I guess the meta wolf sold for a bigger amount than I anticipated.
She also gave me the Energons from the wolves. The one that the meta wolf had was bigger than the gray wolves. It was about twice the size and it glowed red.
(Master, I would suggest you to sell them using the shop skill)
(I was thinking of that as well)
"Would you like to sell these?" Reina asked.
"No, this time I'll keep them," I said.
"Alright. Would you like to take another request? We've had them piling up."
"Ahaha...not at the moment. But I do have a question?"
She looked at me and waited.
"Does this adventurer card maybe work in other cities?"
"Of course! The adventurer association is a continental organization so it will work in every country and every city on this continent. Though, if you go to another continent, you will have to register again but the current card is taken as a reference so even that will not be a problem."
"I-I see."
It looked a little like she was bragging. I smiled and thanked her. And came out of the building.
I put the Energons inside the item box and opened the shop window. It asked me if I wanted to sell them and I confirmed.
The bigger one was sold for 8000 GB and the lesser ones were sold for 2000 GB each. It looks like I had accumulated enough GBs. I tried to convert a gold coin to GB as well. It was 10000 GB.
Let's buy something from the shop later. I put away the shop window. I need to get a set of clothes first. I could buy it from the shop skill but they looked more like modern clothes than something that would be passable here.
I walked around the area and soon found a small shop selling clothes.
A small statured middle aged lady was managing the shop.
"Hi, I'm looking for a set of clothes."
"Sure dear. Please come this way. We have robes, cloaks, tunics, jackets, pants and shirts. What would you like to see?" She said pointing at every type of clothes in her shop.
"I would like to buy a casual set as well as a formal set of clothes."
"Sure. I could help you with that"
"What about this.....and this.....and this. Oh I think this one would look good as well...."
She brought me the items one by one and after selecting the ones I liked, I paid her and she packed the clothes in a big paper bag.
I also put on the formal attire as I'd be meeting the tower master. It was a dress with silver and gold embroidery knitted onto the seams of the dress. And a black shoe to go along with it.
It was 50 silver for the formal attire and 10 silver for the casual attire. It was pricey. I think it was better to buy these things from the shop skill. I would have to check later if there were clothes that would be inconspicuous even if worn in this world.
(Master, I think it's about time we go and meet the tower master.)
(Yes, let's go to the magic tower.)
I thanked the lady and came out of the shop. The rain had stopped and the sun was beginning to come out. But the climate was still damp from the recent rain. I made my way towards the white tower piercing the sky, which sat in the middle of the city. It shone as the occasional sunlight struck the tower before clouds moving in the sky obscured the sun from time to time.

There were two guards at the entrance to the tower. They both wore green uniforms and had swords strapped on their right hips. I greeted them and told them that I had come to meet the tower master.
"Are you a noble?"
"No, I am most certainly not."
I think because of the clothes they mistook me for a noble. I did look the part because of these insanely pricey clothes.
"May I know what business you have with the tower master?" One of them asked.
"He had invited me two days back to come and meet him today. Could you please check inside?"
The guards looked at me as if they didn't believe me but still they said, "Yes, please wait for a moment."
One of the guards went inside the tower and soon came back out with Alba.
She was pointing at me out of breath. It looked like she was running again.
Whenever I meet her, she always seemed out of breath.
"You, come with me!" she said.
I thanked the guards and followed her.
"Why do you look like a noble? What's with those clothes?"
"Ahaha, it was just a set of clothes I bought. I thought it would be rude to wear the same set of clothes I was wearing that day. Do I maybe look better than before?" I slightly teased her.
"Of course not! Hmph." She turned her head away.
She led me to a big metal platform in the middle of the ground floor. It had many small runes carved on it. This floor was quite spacious. It was more like a big hall with a high ceiling. It had the reception area in the far right corner and seating area on the left. There were mages running around holding books and papers. A few of them greeted her and a few of them gave me a strange look.
Once we were inside the platform, it began to move upwards. The runes were glowing as it slowly ascended to the top of the tower.
"Oh, it's an elevator."
"What's an elevator?" Alba stared at me.
"Never mind." I said quickly.
"The tower master is quite busy at this time of the day. Please complete your business as soon as possible."
"Shouldn't that depend on the tower master? After all he was the one who invited me."
"You're rude. I'm telling you to keep it short." I could see her getting excited.
"Alright, alright. We'll see."
Once we were high enough, it stopped. She led me through a corridor filled with portraits of people, at the end of which was a big neatly carved door. The door almost filled the entire passageway.
"The tower master is inside." She bowed grudgingly and left.
I nodded and knocked on the door. It opened as soon as I knocked.
"Hello, Rayce. Welcome. How have you been?"
I could see Hendrick sitting on a spacious sofa drinking what looked like tea with pages of paper strewn around the room.
"Oh, forgive me," He quickly flicked his fingers and the papers neatly stacked themselves on to the big desk at the end of the room.
"I have been well, tower master. How have you been?"
"Nonsense, just call me Hendrick. I was just waiting for you."
"Come in, come in." He motioned for me to sit in the sofa opposite him.
"Shall I brew you some tea?"
"Yes, I'd like that. Thank you."
This time it looked like the tea was being brewed with real tea leaves so I asked him where he acquired it.
"Oh, so you have a taste for tea."
"Ah, I just used to drink it occasionally but it's very hard to come by tea leaves. Most of the teas I have seen here were brewed with some kind of leaves."
"Oh, you're talking about the Flacca leaves. It is indeed popular with the people here."
"This one is from the Sicia continent. They trade with our country from time to time and I always request a generous amount of tea leaves."
"I see." I guess I have to go to Sicia continent to buy tea leaves.
He poured me a cup and I took a sip. It was definitely tea. The aroma was spreading throughout the room as the vapor from the tea filled the room.
He looked at me for a while as I was sipping the tea and asked.
"Would you like to join the magic tower? I could give you study materials and you will be able to conduct whatever research you'd like."
"Of course, you can continue being an adventurer."
I expected it but it was still a little far off from my goals so I denied it. Though the books offered sounded a little promising.
"Such a waste," He said and pouted.
"With your intellect, I don't think the 7th circle is too far."
"Haha, I hope so."
"Could you tell me how you were able to achieve the 6th circle while being so young?"
I thought for a moment about what to say. He indeed looked trustworthy. But I couldn't tell him about the goddess and Airi, neither about the reason I was sent here.
(Master, just tell him it was a revelation. In this continent there are people who receive revelations and are able to increase their skills so I think that'd be a believable lie)
"I just had a revelation one day when I was meditating and I felt like I was being pulled inside and watched the circles being formed. I got the idea from that and I was able to form the circle somehow. I still have a long way to go to master 6th circle spells."
"Oh, I see."
"Is that the secret of geniuses. Is it like....." He mumbled something and trailed off.
"Hmm, no matter. So what are your plans now?"
"I thought about it and since I had always been a traveler. I think I'd like to see more of the world. I think I'll be going to Astrya first." I said.
"Why Astrya. I think it'd be a great waste for the country to lose someone like you."
"Haha, I'm not that great. I'm just an adventurer after all. And a low ranked one at that."
"I don't believe that one bit." He smiled and said.
"I do have a few acquaintances in Astrya. And it's been a while since I have seen them," I said.
I didn't really want to speak about my plans so I lied a little.
"Oh, I know the magic tower master of Astrya. He was a student of mine long ago. Let me provide you with an introduction letter. I hope that makes your stay more comfortable."
"Thank you, Hendrick." I don't think I'll be using that but there's no harm in accepting it.
"Come now. What's there to thank about hahaha." He laughed jovially stroking his beard.
Then he talked about his life. It seems he was born a commoner in this same city but was provided the title of count after his research on the water element became known. He praised the royal family and it sounded like they were good rulers who cared for their people. He also talked about his lifespan and how lonely it was to live so long and said I'd be going through the same phase. I had already known about it to some extent.
Some of his acquaintances were still alive but they are tower masters of other cities and aren't able to come and go as they please. So it was rare that he had a long talk like this nowadays. Most of his students and the mages in the tower sought him out for research ideas and his approval.
He asked me about my past and I told him I came from the Andon continent. Though most of my memories were lost, I remembered bits and pieces.
"How sad. Memory manipulation magic is very risky to execute so I hope the memories come back naturally."
I had no intention of casting such magic as I knew the truth. But I agreed with him and nodded.
"Oh did you say Andon. I think I might know a few people there."
And the rest of the time we talked about magic and various pieces of news circulating in the country. I saw that it was almost evening by the time I looked outside the window.
I forgot to keep the promise made to Alba. I hope she forgives me.
"Then Sir Hendrick, I think it's time I go back. I had a great time talking to you. I hope we meet again." I stood up.
"Sigh, alright."
"Please make sure to come meet me whenever you come to this side of the continent. I can't wait to see how you keep growing." He looked excited.
"Thank you."
I bowed my head and made my way out of the door. Alba was waiting outside pacing in front of the door.
"I told you to keep it short. It's almost evening!"
"What can I do when he wants to talk so much," I shrugged and instinctively patted her head.
"Grrr," I could hear her making a sound and I immediately removed my hand sweating inside.
"Aha-haha."
I said goodbye to her and made my way back down using the elevator. There were other rooms on this floor beside the tower master's and people were coming out of them and getting on the elevator. I jumped in with them waving my hand towards Alba.
She also bowed and smiled. I think it was the first time I have seen her smile. Quite sincere, isn't she.
(.........)
As soon as I was out of the tower, I could see the vicinity illuminated with numerous lights hanging from posts lined up alongside the road leading to the tower. And the tower itself sparkled as it gave off a faint glow. I slowly made my way towards the market.
(Master, I think you need to buy food and other provisions for the journey.)
(No need. I can easily buy them using the shop skill)
(I see. In that case I would suggest you to sell the potions that you made previously.)
(Oh, I almost forgot about that. Thank you for reminding me)
(Of course!)
