Chapter 24

Next morning, I woke up early and went down. Everyone had already awakened. Revati and Otien were walking around in the garden. Ashryn had put up a target using earth magic and was practicing her bow. It was such a large ground that we had ample space for practice. I took in the breath of fresh air and the scent of the flowers spreading around, as I walked out of the house.

I looked around and I saw Revati sitting down near a large tree that stood near the garden. Otien had disappeared somewhere. I joined her. Revati welcomed me with a smile and got straight to the point.

"So, you said you were from a different world?"

(Master, it's better to tell her everything. We'll have an ally.)

(Hmm, alright.)

"Yes, Otien must have told you about that right?" I asked, sitting down next to her.

"Yes, he did give me a general overview."

"Well, there's nothing much to tell. I died in that world and I was pulled into a space between worlds by an entity calling herself Dexra. She said she was a manager of multiple universes."

"I see. So, basically a god. Though I've never heard of her. The god we worshipped in my time was called Enara."

It was understandable. The names of gods keeps changing from time to time. Hardly, the same names of gods remained in the span of millions of years. People needed faith in something and they put up a god to worship. Even now, the god worshipped by people in this country was called Evaline.

"I guess, and she told me that there will soon be a calamity coming to this universe and I needed to fight that."

"That....sounds unbelievable."

"Yeah, believe me I know. This body, my powers and even Airi was given to me by her. She is a support bot and has been helping me adjust to this world and prepare for the calamity."

"Hmm, Otien did tell me about Airi. By any chance, did she mean those creatures when she talked about the calamity?"

"I'm not sure, but I know that a calamity will soon reveal itself much stronger than any humans. So, I have been trying my best to become as strong as possible." I said, after a while.

"I see." She looked lost in thought.

"I don't know about a different calamity but those creatures will not go unchallenged this time. We'll need to do everything in our power to repel them though I would like to limit our sacrifices."

I could feel Airi's approval.

"Yeah."

"By the way, what powers were you given?" She asked, interested.

"Haha, I don't know if you will be able to see it or not. Only the owner can see their own status. When I used appraisal on you, I couldn't see anything but maybe that's because of your body."

"Hmm......wait, Otien had made a device to look at that status window. He told me it took him a long time to make it. He started after feeling something was changing in this world."

"I see," Otien was a little too competent.

She pulled out a small one eyed monocle from her pocket and wore it in her left eye.

"Please open your status window." She said.

I did so, after removing the perception block I had applied to my status.

"Wow, this is unbelievable. Even though I had heard from him about it, this system is pretty convenient. It weirdly looks like a holographic screen."

"Yeah, that's right. I was startled the first time I saw this as well. Though, Dexra assured me everyone had them." I added.

"I have heard from Otien that a human can only master one or two elements but you have an affinity for all of them?" She asked, surprised.

"Haha, it's one of the gifts I was given."

"And, Alchemy. I'm guessing it's to do with potions which are new to me, because we had medicine in my time. And creation. Why is it locked?"

"My alchemy is a little bit different but yes, it helps me to create potions. Regarding creation, I've no idea about that skill. I asked Airi but even she doesn't know. It'll probably reveal itself in time."

"I see. And the shop skill. What is that?"

"It's a shopping skill. Basically, I'm able to buy anything from my previous world. That's where the food came from."

"What? Wow. I think that will be incredibly useful."

"How? The things in my world ran on a different power called electricity and not on magic."

"I see, but I should be able to make some adjustments to them and you might be able to sell them here."

"Hmm, that's not a bad idea. We do need funds and the more we have, the better." I agreed with her.

"Right? Can you open the shop skill?"

"Sure."

I opened the shop window and she slowly looked through it. She gasped in surprise from time to time and was shocked at some of the things but she had an exciting look on her face. She also took notes in a book she pulled out from somewhere.

"Alright, give me some time and I'll select something that we can modify." She said, after she was done looking through the window.

Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road.

"Alright. I think we'll also need to create a business to sell items. I do have a partnership with a merchant company where I sell potions but I'm thinking it'd be better to create our own company if we're selling items from my homeworld."

"Right, I'll leave that to you. I'm not really good at those things and I hardly know about this world."

"Sure."

"I cannot wait to tinker with those things." She said, rubbing her hands and laughing.

"Ah-haha, alright. I'll figure something out."

"What are you guys laughing so maniacally about?" Ashryn appeared from somewhere and asked.

She was drenched in sweat and her golden hair shined in the sunlight. I figured she had been going hard on the training.

"Ahaha, we're just planning on something." I said.

"I see. Well, when are the people coming?" She asked.

"Hmm, they should be arriving soon."

"Alright, I'll go and freshen up."

"Sure. Then, I'll prepare breakfast," I said.

"Okay!"

In the meantime, Revati and I talked for a while about different ideas. Soon, Ashryn came back wearing a new set of clothes. She sat down near us under the shade of the tree.

"I didn't know you brought clothes." I said.

"Haha, I have a magic bag," She said, pointing to a small pouch hanging from her belt.

"I see."

I brought out pancakes and coffee and a few sandwiches. Ashryn was surprised by the new food but she didn't complain and quickly started eating, praising the food, though that was not the case for the coffee.

"I have never had this drink called coffee. It seems like an acquired taste." She said, making a face.

"Haha."

After we had breakfast and rested for a while, we soon heard a commotion near the gate. I saw that it was crowded with people wearing maid uniforms and butler uniforms. The potential employees have started started pouring in.

I had heard that the usual amount that a maid makes is about 10 gold a month and a butler can make about 25 gold a month. I planned to increase it a little. Due to my potions business, I didn't have much to worry about regarding money. And I was sure the new venture regarding modified magic tools would bring in money.

I created a makeshift interview room on the ground floor and Revati joined me. Ashryn helped manage the people and brought them inside one by one.

The first candidate was a woman in her mid thirties with blue hair and was wearing a maid uniform.

"Hello, I greet the master of the house." she said bowing to me.

"Welcome, please take a seat," I said pointing to the chair set up for the interviewees. Due to my past experiences giving interviews in companies, I had unknowingly applied the same format. I guess I was too engrossed in my previous life. I had no idea how people here took interviews.

"Could you please explain a little about yourself?" I asked.

"My name is Alina. I had previously worked for Baron Gillian for close to ten years until he was demoted from barony. I have extensive experience in housework." She didn't show any reaction to my questions and replied diligently.

"I see. What made you apply for this job?"

"I was already looking for a new job and this job seemed to be the perfect fit as it is close to the school where my son is studying."

"What school is that?"

"It's a small school for commoners and it is situated close to the market that you pass by while coming to the estate."

"I see." She was probably talking about the Meridian market close to the northern part of the city. It was a large area and many shops and buildings adorned the area.

"Will your son be staying with you?"

"Yes."

"What about your husband?"

"He died in a monster attack. He was an adventurer." She said with a hint of sadness.

"I see. I'm sorry."

"It's alright," She said, smiling.

"Alright. You can go. Please send the next person in. We'll contact you soon."

I looked at her status.

[Name: Alina

Race: Human

Skills: Magic (Air), Housekeeping, Cooking, Leadership]

The people kept coming in and after a slew of interviews and extensive scrutiny from mine and Revati's part, we were able to pick out ten servants. Out of them, six were female and four were male. Five of them came with prior experience and five were new. We also selected a gardener. Their names were Ria, Alina, Abbie, Gili, Hilda, Joyce, Brent, Chean, Vik and Tim. The gardener was called Emil.

It was now time for butlers. As we waited, they started coming in.

They all had extensive experiences from working at either a nobles or merchants family. They came with the highest recommendation from the guild. However, one person quietly stood out. His name was Elias.

His status intrigued me.

[Name: Elias

Race: Human

Skills: Swordsmanship, Stealth, Marksmanship, Magic( Wind), Assassination, Meticulous, Discrete, Attention to detail, Hospitality]

He was in his mid forties and was dressed neatly in a butler uniform. He had immaculate manners as he explained about himself. He told us that he had been in Ebria kingdom for most of his life and now he is thinking of settling down so he had been looking for a butler job. When asked why he wanted to apply here, he told us that he found the arrangements to his liking and wanted to dedicate his life to someone. He seemed by far the perfect candidate.

I had no issues with him so I hired him. His status was a bonus. After telling everyone to report to the mansion the next day, we finished the interviews.

So, the next day, everyone gathered at the mansion. I offered them boarding at the mansion but they refused. Elias told me that it's better to build a servant quarter for everyone. So, I agreed.

I wondered where I could find builders. So, I went to the only dwarf I knew. The bell hanging on the door rang as I entered Mathilda's shop.

"Welcome, customer."

Today, she was sitting behind the counter.

"Oh, it's you!"

"Hello, how have you been?"

"It's all good. So, have you come to buy more ores?" She asked, her eyes shining.

"Ahaha, no. I was looking for craftsmen to build me something. I was wondering if you knew anyone."

"Oh, hmm. I think I know a bunch. I'll introduce you. Come with me."

She got up and led me outside. Then she locked the doors of the shop and we strolled through the area filled with blacksmith shops. It was filled with adventurers, shopping for weapons and armors. We slowly made our way through the busy street towards the end of the road. Small restaurants and bars littered the area. Soon, a big building came into view with many dwarfs running about in the vicinity.

It read, "Meisvil Construction company". We went inside. Some of the dwarfs greeted Mathilda with a smile.

"Oh, Miss Mathilda. What brings you here?" The receptionist said in a surprised tone as soon as she saw her.

"I'm here to see my uncle." She said. It seems she was related to someone here.

"Certainly. I'll let him know," The receptionist hurried away.

"I didn't know you had such connections."

"Haha, my family had been renowned blacksmiths and craftsmen for generations."

Soon, we were ushered into a room on the first floor that was filled with molds of buildings and floor plans drawn on boards. A cozy sofa was in the middle of the room. A short statured guy, with a beard that almost touched the ground, greeted us.

"Niece, it's been a while."

"Have you been well, uncle?'

"Yes but your aunt misses you. You never show your face."

"I'm sorry. I'll go and meet her soon."

"Good, good. So, what brings you here?" He asked looking at me.

"Oh, I brought you a customer."

"A customer?"

"Hello, I'm Rayce. Nice to meet you."

"Reuben." He said, shaking my hand.

"I was looking to commission your company to build a seperate building and maybe renovate my house."

"Really? And where would the building be?"

"Ah, it'll be in my estate. I had recently hired some help and I'd like you to build a servant quarter in my grounds and possibly another room underground."

"Hmm, I see. But we're swamped with orders at the moment."

"Uncle!"

"Hmm, I see. I see."

'Rayce is also a blacksmith."

"Hoh, are you now?"

His eyes instantly fell on the sword hanging from my hips.

"May I have a look at that?"

I gave him the sword. His eyes widened when he ran his hand over the sword.

"I see."

"Well, I won't deny something to someone who can make a sword like this. Sure, we'll be by the estate in the evening. And take a look at the land that you want us to build the building. You can leave your address at the reception."

"Thank you very much," I said after taking the sword from him.

"Please visit your aunt soon. She's sad and keeps nagging me."

"Of course. Of course." Mathilda said as we went out of his office.

We made our way down and after leaving the address at the reception desk, we left the building.
