Chapter 29

Next morning, I went back to the construction site and informed Reuben not to create the space for the elevator. Reuben asked me if I had found a solution and I informed him that one of my people will come to install something similar. I also went to Bjorv and asked him to send a few dwarves to the mansion.

A week passed by quickly.

Revati had been able to change the software inside the computer and it has now become a magical tool. She told me that it was the software that their civilization used before it was destroyed and that it was inside Otien. She even made changes to the language that was encoded into the software to make it suitable for this age. Otien was basically a data bank. I laughed when they came to inform me of that but I felt like Otien didn't look at my laugh approvingly.

The only concerning factor was Ashryn. She was acting quite strangely and had been disappearing from the estate more frequently. Elias informed me that she had been sneaking out even at night and was going somewhere but he didn't know where. I didn't want to intrude on her privacy but after the attempted kidnapping incident, I was quite worried about her. The look on her face when she heard about the kidnapping also worried me.

"Would you like me to follow her?" Elias offered, guessing my worries.

"Hmm, but would you able to? Elves are quite swift on their feet."

"Please leave it to me," Elias said.

I had completely forgotten about his past status of being an assassin. I nodded in approval but informed him that if it was personal and he didn't see any danger, he needn't unnecessarily alarm her. He agreed.

Another few days passed but there was no news about Ashryn.

Today, Revati had excitedly called me to the laboratory. So, I made my way towards the basement. I went down to the cellar and after authentication, I entered the laboratory.

Revati was crouched near a round metal platform about five feet in diameter. Otien was hovering next to her. She had previously asked me to introduce her to some dwarfs and it looks like she had collaborated with them to create a teleportation platform. It hid the magic circle inside two sheets of metal that were joined together. It basically looked like a disk with a small round circle at the center of the platform. Except for that, it looked like any normal round sheet of metal. She beckoned to me and I moved closer to take a better look at it. We tried it by linking two platforms and it worked flawlessly. I was instantly able to teleport between the platforms after a short delay.

"Have you found any Orichalcum?" She asked, after we were done checking.

"Yeah, I did. I'm sorry, I've been too busy and didn't have the time to make the tools."

"That's alright. Let's do it now, shall we?"

I took out the lump of Orichalcum from my item box and set it down on the table next to us.

"The purity of this piece of ore is great. This should work perfectly," Otien said, looking at it.

He moved closer to the table.

"Shall I create it?"

Small arms shot out from Otien and I could see small magic circles drawn on the small disc shaped palms.

(Master, you should be able to do it.)

"Wait, I'll do it. Can you show me an image of what it should look like?"

"Sure," Otien projected a holographic image in front of him.

The tool looked like a pen. He even took apart the pen and showed me it's inside. It said it needed iron as well. I took out a small bit of sky iron from my item box and began working on it, referencing the projection.

"Oooh!" Revati exclaimed, looking at the ore changing shape.

"This is fascinating," Otien said. He sounded impressed.

"Haha."

Once I was done, a crude replica sat on the table.

"This looks great but it's a little unrefined." Otien said, observing my creation.

"Wait, I'm not done yet."

I began to concentrate and after mixing the iron a little bit at a time, I began to mold the Orichalcum again and it slowly began to take the shape shown in the projection. A small amount of Orichalcum was left behind after its completion.

"I-It's perfect!" Revati cried out, after the product mirrored the projection. She took the tool in her hand and checked it from all the angles.

"That is a great skill, Rayce," Otien said approvingly.

"Ah, it's just Alchemy."

"Wouldn't you have been able to make the washing machines by yourself using that skill?" Revati asked.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.

"I could have, yes. But people would grow suspicious, if they didn't know where the products were coming from. So, the dwarves are a good cover."

"That's true." Revati said thoughtfully.

"And I'd like to keep this skill a secret," I added.

"I see. That makes sense. Greedy people might show up once they learn about your skill."

"Yeah, exactly." I nodded.

(Master, you need a sword as well. You better make one now!)

Airi's stern voice suddenly floated in my head.

(Y-yeah, you're right.)

After getting the engraving tool, Revati seemed ecstatic. Otien also sounded pleased as they looked at it over and over again.

(Master, use Aether. It has a much higher magical conductivity and should be the perfect material for your next sword.)

(But, will I be able to. Mathilda did say that only elves could mold it.)

(You'll never know unless you try!)

I took out the Aether that I had brought from Mathilda. It glowed with a green hue.

"What are you doing now?" Revati asked interestedly, when she saw me taking out the ore.

"Ah, I need to make a sword. My previous one broke in my last quest," I replied.

"I see."

They stood behind me, looking at me working. I felt a strong pressure to do well. It was as if an instructor was grading my exam papers.

"What is that ore though?" Revati inquired looking at the glowing ore.

"Ah, It's called Aether."

"Hmm, I've never heard of it."

"The dwarf I brought it from said that only an elf can mold it. But, Airi says that this should be the perfect material for a sword."

"I see. Wait, a ore that can only be molded by an elf?" Revati asked surprised.

She looked interested and came closer to look at my work.

I began to visualise the shape of a sword while holding onto the ore. The ore glowed for a while but it ended in failure. It barely stretched.

(Master, I think you're not infusing enough energy.)

(More than this?)

(Please try again. This time, try to feel the sensation coming out of the ore and guide the energy along the lines.)

(Lines. What lines?)

I did as I was told and I could feel a warm sensation coming from my hand. I looked at the ore I was holding and I could see green veins running through the ore. I understood what Airi meant and carefully began to infuse energy into those veins. Gradually, the ore began to change its shape to a sword. Revati was looking at it dumbfounded. Even Otien made a surprised sound.

"Are you sure you're not an elf in disguise?" Revati asked playfully.

"Ahaha, I'm sure."

"The sword still doesn't look that good though," Otien said, coming closer.

"Ah, it's because, I don't have an concrete image in mind. I'm working on the fading image of the previous sword I had."

"Maybe I can help you with that," Otien offered.

Otien projected the image of a thin sword. That sword was truly beautiful. Just looking at it made me appreciate the skill of the person who forged it. Even the handle was carved with intricate designs.

"Isn't that...." Revati asked, surprised.

"Yes, it's the Sun sword," Otien said, vibrating to Revati's words.

"The Sun sword?" I asked them, confused.

"It was one of the Trinity swords forged in our empire. It was given to Raniel, if I remember correctly." Revati explained.

"Ah, Raniel was a soldier of the empire with the highest honors," she continued, seeing my confusion.

"But it was lost just before the invasion. Even Raniel disappeared. If we had him, maybe we could have persevered a bit more." She added with a hint of sadness.

"I see. What were the other swords?" I asked.

"The other swords were called, Excelsion and Bipolar. But even they were lost. I only have the record of Excelsion that was taken into space by the ones that escaped the invasion, using the spaceship called Ormar," Otien explained.

"I see."

"This particular sword was made of a meteor that struck the planet a long time ago. Even our researchers couldn't date it." He said, pointing back to the projection.

"Hmm, I do have some meteoritite," I took it out of my item box and showed it to them.

"No, this is not part of the same meteor," Otien said, holding the meteoritite with his small arms and examining it.

"The one the Sun sword was made from was a mysterious metal whose properties we weren't able to figure out even after hundreds of years. But it molded very quickly when exposed to continuous bursts of magic power. That was how the sword was forged by Aventer, the most accomplished metalworker of our empire," Revati explained.

"I see."

"I think Aether would be much better than this meteoritite," Otien said, throwing the meteoritite back into the table.

"Alright."

I continued molding the blade while looking at the image. I took the left over Orichalcum and mixed it in with the Aether to give it a little more power. I made the handle from adamantine. The Aether gradually began to lose its shine and eventually a wonderful sword lay in front of us that perfectly imitated the Sun sword.

"Wow, it's very well done. I can't even tell the difference," Otien said, examining the sword up close.

Otien had seen the Trinity swords up close so if he couldn't tell the difference, it was indeed well crafted. I sighed in relief after the pressure from the two of them lifted.

(Master, I can feel the raw power from the blade. I knew you would be able to craft something like that!)

(Ahaha. Thank you for suggesting Aether.)

(Of course!)

Even Airi approved. I took up the sword and infused energy and it began to glow, with a green energy blade forming on the whole blade.

"Wow," Revati and Otien muttered.

"This will work," I said, smiling and looking at the finished sword.

"I feel like you have created something ridiculous," Revati said.

"Ahaha."

I quickly made a scabbard from adamantine and we were done with the sword. It gleamed, giving off the vibe of a newly crafted sword.

After we were done in the laboratory, Revati said she needed to be there to install the teleportation platforms. So, I hung the sword on my waist and after putting all the platforms inside my item box, took her with me to the construction site. Otien stayed behind.

After navigating through the busy market, we soon reached the building.

"It's looking great." Revati said, staring up at the building.

"Haha. You think so?"

Reuben saw me arriving and came up to us.

"How is it going?" I asked him.

"We're almost done. We're just adding the finishing touches." He replied.

"That's great. Ah, this is Revati. She is a magic tool expert and will be installing the platforms for teleportation between floors."

"Teleportation? You don't mean levitation?"

"No, ahaha. You'll see soon."

We were led inside by Reuben and Revati chose a spot towards the edge of the vacant ground floor. I brought out the platforms from my item box. Though the builders were startled by my storage skill, they soon became engrossed in moving the platforms. The dwarfs helped her carry them to the spot she indicated and she began installing them with the help of the dwarfs. She took out the newly crafted engraving tool and began to work on the platform.

The platform shined with large rings gracing the surface. A small white circle was in the middle, with larger rings extending outward. We took the stairs to the floors above and she continued installing the platforms. She took out the laptop and began to reprogram them. The laptop had eventually become a magical tool. The thought about modifying them and selling them came to my mind but that was a problem for another time.

Even the dwarfs were surprised by the laptop but I explained that it was something Revati had made herself, so they left it alone.
