"What three-headed dog? I’ve never owned Fluffy!"
Hagrid jumped as if he had been shocked. He even started to tremble, his beard bristling. He pointed at Kyle and shouted, "How can you falsely accuse me!"
"Oh…" Kyle realized, "So, his name is Fluffy. That's a good name."
Hagrid’s expression froze. He quickly denied, "I didn't… I didn't say anything. You heard wrong."
He couldn't admit it.
Of everyone at Hogwarts, the one he feared the most was Kyle finding out about Fluffy. Even Dumbledore was below him on the list.
Because Kyle's dad, Chris, was the Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Creatures and Control. He dealt with creatures like Fluffy, who were of unknown origin.
If Kyle wrote home about it, Fluffy would be taken away. He wouldn’t know if it would live or die.
He might even be sent to Azkaban.
Just thinking about Fluffy being killed and that hellhole called Azkaban made Hagrid sweat.
"No, I can't admit it."
Hagrid scowled, putting on a face he thought looked fierce. He tried to scare Kyle away.
His fierce expression, coupled with his tall, three-meter frame, actually seemed like the real deal.
If you ignored Hagrid’s shifty eyes and the sweat on his forehead, Kyle might have believed him.
"Okay, okay. I heard wrong. You don't have a three-headed dog." Kyle waved his hand, "Just consider it a fun fact. See you later."
"By the way." Kyle had taken two steps before turning back. "If your dog has any symptoms like loss of appetite or anxiety and depression, don't worry. Just release it into the Forbidden Forest."
Since Hagrid didn’t want him to see Fluffy, Kyle wouldn't look. After all, there would be plenty of opportunities next year.
Besides, what's the point of a small one, wouldn't a big one be better?
Once Fluffy was locked up in that room on the fourth floor, he could look at it whenever he wanted. He could even pull out some of its fur and knit socks.
Leaving the Forbidden Forest, Kyle leisurely walked through the grass. As he reached the castle gate, he accidentally saw a familiar figure flash past him.
Kyle was curious and walked over. He saw a small figure squatting in the bushes by the castle gate. The figure was peering down at something.
"Kanna? What are you doing here?" Kyle asked curiously.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
"Who!"
The sudden voice startled Kanna. She took a moment to regain her composure.
"Me. I’m looking for something." Kanna looked up at Kyle, then continued to search in the bushes.
Seeing this, Kyle pulled out his wand, “You’ll be here until when? Let me help."
Kanna seemed to guess his intention. She shook her head, "No, it's Galleons I dropped. The Accio Charm won't work."
Any wizarding currency, whether it was Galleons, Sickles, or Knuts, had an Anti-Accio Charm on it, like a watermark. It was the most basic anti-theft measure.
Kyle could only put away his wand and go to the other side to help look.
Kanna didn't want to bother Kyle. That was why she hadn't told anyone and had snuck here to look by herself.
But thinking of her upcoming situation, she hesitated and whispered, "Th, thanks."
"It's nothing, we're friends." Kyle waved his hand nonchalantly, "By the way, how many Galleons did you drop?"
"Twenty."
Kyle thought he had misheard, "How many?!"
"Twenty." Kanna whispered, "Maybe more. I've been dropping Galleons since I started school. This is all I have left."
"Uh…"
Kyle clicked his tongue and didn’t say anything. He started to pull the bushes apart.
Good grief. She dropped more than twenty Galleons at once. If it had been him, Kyle would have thought about killing someone.
…
The bushes by the castle gate were not small. It took them more than an hour to search the whole area.
But the result was not good.
They didn't find any Galleons. They didn't even find a single Knut.
Kyle stood up and rubbed his waist. "Are you sure you dropped them here?"
"I, I don’t know."
Kanna was silent for a moment and said, "They were still here before Herbology yesterday. But they were suddenly gone this morning."
"Could it have been during Flying class?" Kyle thought for a moment, "Did you look in the Quidditch field?"
"I looked there this morning." Kanna said, "They weren't in the Quidditch field or the castle. If they’re not here either, then the only place left is the greenhouse."
"The greenhouse. They’re not there." Kyle said firmly.
He couldn’t say for sure about other places, but the greenhouse… Kyle was 100% sure that no one had dropped anything there. The ground was spotless.
He had looked very carefully.
"How about we search it again?" Kyle suggested. "Maybe we missed something just now."
"No need." Kanna shook her head.
She hadn’t found the Galleons she dropped before. This time should be the same. It was obvious. How could someone drop Galleons and find them again?
"Alright." Kyle didn't insist. In his opinion, pureblood families, like Kanna, who could afford Fancy Dress robes, were never short of Galleons.
Twenty or thirty Galleons wouldn't be a big deal for them.
He patted the dirt off his clothes and casually said, "Do you need me to lend you some before your owl arrives?"
Kanna's eyes glazed over for a moment. After a moment of silence, she said, "It's okay. I won't need to use Galleons at Hogwarts. I'll just go to Gringotts to get some when we have a holiday. It’s just the rat tonic… can I pay you after Christmas?"
Kyle paused, his hand patting his robe. He then looked at Kanna and said, "Don't worry about that. It's fine even if you pay next year."
After Kyle patted his robe clean, the two of them walked towards the castle.
On the way, Kyle asked curiously, "By the way, where's your rat? I haven't seen you with him."
"Pocky?" When she mentioned her pet, Kanna rarely showed a smile, "He's playing with Darlene's hamster in the dorm."
"A rat and a hamster playing together? What's that all about?" Kyle said with a scoff, "I have a friend, Percy Weasley from Gryffindor. He also has a rat. I'll introduce them.
By the way, is your Pocky male or female?"
Kanna's face blushed, but she still whispered, "Fe, female."
"Perfect." Kyle's eyes lit up, "Percy's Scabbers is male. How about we just pair them up? Then we'll have a litter of baby rats next year."
