Chapter 20: A Failed Prank

CHAPTER 20: A FAILED PRANK

After sitting down at the Hufflepuff table, Kyle felt a strange sense of relief.

Before the Sorting, he always felt restless. Now that everything was settled, he had finally become a true member of Hogwarts.

It was such a great feeling.

Kyle leaned back against the table, propping his chin with his left hand. He leisurely observed the Sorting while waiting for the feast to start.

Because of the extra-long Sorting, many people in the Great Hall were curiously looking at Kyle.

Many young witches looked at Kyle and Cedric sitting together, laughing and chatting. Then, they turned to look at their classmates, and they almost gritted their teeth.

Damn it, why are all the good-looking guys in Hufflepuff? It's not fair!

...

And at the Gryffindor table, Fred and George almost gritted their teeth too.

"Why did Kyle go to Hufflepuff!" Fred pounded his thigh in frustration, "This means we can't use the welcome ceremony we prepared!"

"Don't say anything, Fred, let me catch my breath." George scratched his head, "Honestly, even if Kyle went to Slytherin, I could accept it. But Hufflepuff... how is that possible!"

"Yeah!" Fred nodded, "Kyle is loyal? Kind? Is the Sorting Hat senile?"

Just as Fred and George fell into silence, a new student who had just been sorted into Gryffindor happened to sit in the empty seat next to them.

The next second...

"Now!"

The scream echoed through the Great Hall, immediately attracting everyone's attention.

The Gryffindor new student, as if he were a startled Toadstool, leaped three feet into the air, then started to cover his backside and run around.

He was screaming as he ran.

People only saw then that he had a round object hanging behind him.

It was about the size of a Bludger in Quidditch. It had a mouth full of sharp teeth and was biting the new student's ass.

"Wait, that ball looks familiar." Fred, watching the show, suddenly remembered something and turned to George, "George, didn't you put the Bitey Balls away?"

George was stunned, "No, I thought you already had."

They exchanged a look, then simultaneously looked to the left, where the new student had been sitting.

This content has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

It was empty, no doubt about it.

"Oh, damn it." Fred scratched his head, looking heartbroken, "That was all our savings."

That Bitey Ball was a new prop Fred and George had bought from Zonko's Joke Shop for a high price. It could be disguised as a normal cushion and placed anywhere.

It was just a bit expensive. It cost three Galleons, which wasn't a small amount for Fred and George.

But thinking about Kyle's Sorting today, they gritted their teeth and used all their savings to buy it. They were going to give their little freshman a memorable surprise.

To make sure they didn't leave any clues, they had already prepared everything while Kyle was wearing the Sorting Hat. They placed the cushion on an empty seat next to them.

That way, if Kyle was sorted into Gryffindor, they could lead him to the trap spot smoothly.

Even if he was sorted into another house, it was just a cushion, they could easily take it back.

Everything was so perfect.

Unfortunately, man proposes, God disposes. They never expected Kyle to be sorted into Hufflepuff, the most unlikely house in their opinion. In their shock, they didn't immediately take the "cushion" back.

As a result, this happened.

"Fred, do you think we can get that Bitey Ball back?" George looked at the new student's back, his heart bleeding.

It was three Galleons! He could buy a whole box of dung bombs with that. How could he not be heartbroken?

Fred looked at Professor McGonagall, who was walking towards the new student, and said helplessly, "I think it's gone."

They both sighed in unison.

On the other side, Professor McGonagall had already reached the new student. She took the Bitey Ball off him and then examined the young wizard.

He wasn't injured, and there were no rips in his robes. It was a standard magical prank.

Seeing the familiar technique and the tools used, Professor McGonagall immediately knew who the culprit was. She turned around and glared at the twins.

But because Sorting wasn't over yet, she couldn't say much. She left a "Gryffindor loses twenty points" before turning back to the platform.

The new student was also terrified. After being brought back by Percy, he checked three times to make sure there was no problem before returning to the table.

Not far away, Kyle watched Fred and George frown, not hiding his laughter. He slowly extended his middle finger towards them.

Kyle would swear on Ron's honor that the ball that bites was prepared for him by these two.

Now that Professor McGonagall had discovered it, it could only be called poetic justice.

"No, George, Kyle is too arrogant." Fred's face was flushed with anger.

Other people didn't know what that gesture meant, but he did.

Over the past eleven years, whenever Kyle teased them, he would give them the middle finger. So, he knew exactly what Kyle meant.

"Don't worry, Fred, as long as Kyle is at Hogwarts, we still have a chance."

Just like Fred, George was also very angry. Even his ears turned red.

But the problem was, they had no way to deal with Kyle now. And they didn't dare to cause trouble under Professor McGonagall's deathly gaze. They could only retaliate by giving Kyle the middle finger.

Out of sight, out of mind.

They temporarily suppressed their desire for revenge, turned their heads, and tried to avoid looking at Kyle's infuriating face.

And Kyle didn't care about their actions.

It was just a last stand from two red-haired losers. He wouldn't take it to heart.

Besides, Kyle knew that Fred and George wouldn't just let it go. They were probably already planning how to get back at him.

But so what?

Over the past eleven years, he had rarely lost any battles with the Weasley twins.

The few times he did lose, it was because he was too young back then. Plus, Charlie, the shameless bully, had used his size to gain an advantage. Only then did they win a round.

Now, Charlie was busy with his graduation exams and Quidditch. He didn't have time to deal with them.

Without Charlie, who could the twins turn to?

Ron?

If that's the case, dealing with them would be even easier.

So, with a glorious track record, Kyle was fearless.
