“It doesn’t matter who it was, Miss Prince.”
Snape’s expression didn't change. He frowned and said, "Although an irregular cut can make the effect a bit better, it’s just a boil-cure potion. It’s a complete waste of time to do that.
But given your serious attitude… five points for Hufflepuff."
All the students looked over in shock. They widened their eyes in disbelief.
Some Hufflepuff students slapped their ears, wondering if their hearing was wrong.
Although only half the lesson had passed, they had already experienced this Potions professor’s cruelty.
Just like the prefects said, in his class, only Slytherin always got extra points. The other three houses could only try to minimize the points they lost.
Like the two Slytherin students who almost blew up the Potions classroom.
Even though Snape, in a fit of rage, had put them in detention, and in the dungeon no less, their house points weren't deducted at all.
But what had they just heard?
Snape had given Kanna five points!
Goodness, this would be a sensation at Hogwarts!
…
If Hufflepuff was shocked, then Slytherin was simply unacceptable. They looked at their Head of House with resentment, almost about to cry.
How could this be? Getting extra points was only for them. Why did Hufflepuff...
The Head of House had changed. He wasn't like this before.
But none of this had anything to do with Snape. He put down the Porcupine Quill and said calmly, "Don't do something so unnecessary next time."
"Okay, okay… Professor." Kanna said timidly.
"Hmm."
Snape nodded and casually turned to Kyle. His expression instantly turned to one of disdain, "Look at her, then look at you. You've only cut a little bit in such a long time. You can't even do such a simple thing. Are you borrowing your brains from a troll?
Such a waste of time. Five points from Hufflepuff!"
Kyle: "..."
What the hell was this?
Who had he offended? He just cut a little slowly. Why was he deducted five points for that?
Were there no rules? Did anyone have any humanity?
The professor was being so unfair. Was nobody at Hogwarts going to do anything?
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Nobody did anything.
Even the students in the classroom didn’t care about Kyle's feelings. They all breathed a sigh of relief. The Slytherin snakes even hugged each other, weeping with joy.
He's back, he's back.
This is the real Snape. The one before must have been an imposter.
Maybe Headmaster Dumbledore, not wanting Slytherin to win the House Cup for the sixth time in a row, had secretly used the Imperius Curse to control him.
That wicked old bee!
The snakes comforted themselves this way.
…
After that, Snape rarely came to Kyle's side again.
Until, just before the end of class, he started checking the students' potions, as he usually did.
Unsurprisingly, Kyle and Kanna's boil-cure potion was a success.
Pink smoke rose slowly from the cauldron. Even Snape couldn't find any flaws.
"Five points for Hufflepuff."
Snape glanced at Kyle, looking very disdainful, and walked away.
This was the second time Snape had given Hufflepuff extra points. Although he deducted those five points back a second later, the incident still spread throughout Hogwarts before dinner.
Kanna once again became the focus of everyone's attention.
Unlike the few students in the Transfiguration class last time, this time, almost every student at Hogwarts was curious about who this first-year witch was. She had even made the notorious Snape look at her differently.
"Thank goodness, Kyle, you're finally out of that damn common room."
At dinner, Fred and George, risking detention doubling, came to the Hufflepuff table again.
But they didn't look so good. They both had deep dark circles under their eyes. They couldn't even hold the knife and fork properly. They almost cut a perfectly good pork chop into a dumpling filling.
"What's wrong with you?" Kyle looked at the sickly twins and said earnestly, "You're still young. You should be more moderate. You can't keep going like this, you'll wear yourselves out."
"Yeah, but there's nothing we can do." George sighed, "This detention was awful. Do you know how thick that book is?
Fifteen inches thick! It’s taller than a wand. Professor McGonagall made us copy it in a week. Is she trying to kill us?"
"Forget it, let's not talk about it." Fred patted his brother on the shoulder, "At least until we're done copying that damn book, Professor McGonagall won't let us die of exhaustion."
They wouldn't let them die of exhaustion before finishing it. But what about after finishing it… the twins didn’t say, and Kyle wisely didn't ask.
"Goodness, you distracted me. I almost forgot about the important matter."
George suddenly slapped his forehead and looked around the table, "Which one is the hero called Kanna? Introduce us to her quickly! I'm waiting to get her autograph."
"Yeah, yeah." Fred nodded repeatedly, "A Hufflepuff, and she got ten points from Snape. It's a miracle."
George added, "Dumbledore should give her a special achievement award. She cured Snape’s favoritism.
This honor is much more glorious than the one recorded in that old book."
"Looking for Kanna? You're going to be disappointed." Kyle shrugged, "She didn't come to the Great Hall for dinner."
According to Kanna’s roommate, she had gone back to the dorm after Potions class and wouldn’t come out. She also refused to see anyone.
"She didn't come?" George asked in surprise, "She didn't eat dinner?"
"She just didn't come to the Great Hall." Kyle looked at him strangely, "Don't forget our common room is next to the kitchen. We can get whatever we want, whenever we want."
"Oh, yeah, how could I forget." George slapped his forehead, "Damn it, my head is full of different names now. It's a terrible feeling."
"It seems like we won't get her autograph today." Fred said regretfully, "It's a pity. We have to keep going to detention tonight. Otherwise, waiting in the kitchen would have been a good option."
Kyle opened his mouth. He thought Kanna probably didn't want to give them autographs.
Not getting what they wanted, Fred and George quickly gobbled down a few bites of dinner and left.
Before leaving, they even filled a bag with roast potatoes. They said they would eat them after detention.
Kyle asked them why they didn't go to the kitchen to eat something warm, but he was met with universal eye rolls from the twins.
"Two in the morning..." Fred said bitterly, "We're lucky to be able to walk back to the dorm alive!"
