Chapter 25: Roommates

Chapter 25: Roommates

"Anyway, those are the main points you need to remember. As long as you pay attention, you won't lose points for your house.

But even if you accidentally slip up and lose some points, it's fine. We Hufflepuffs don't care about that. As long as you're happy at Hogwarts, that's all that matters."

Perfect Harris was talking confidently among the crowd. Kyle sat on the edge, looking down, silent.

"Kyle, what are you doing here? I've been looking for you."

Just then, Cedric walked over. He casually handed Kyle a glass of juice, "Fresh orange juice. It's a great choice to have before bed."

Kyle didn't take it. He didn't even raise his head. He just waved at Cedric, indicating that he didn't need it.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

"No, I'm just a little sleepy." Kyle still didn't raise his head. He said in a slightly hurried tone, "Besides, I don't like to drink anything before bed. You can ask the other new students."

This unusual behavior naturally aroused Cedric's curiosity. He tried to walk two steps to the left, but Kyle almost simultaneously turned in the opposite direction.

Something was wrong. Very, very wrong.

"Okay, I'll ask the other new students." Cedric quickly walked to the side, then held his breath, put his footsteps as lightly as possible, and circled back in front of Kyle. He quickly lay down on the ground, calculating the position carefully.

Kyle had been thinking about when he could go back to the dormitory. Suddenly, a furry head popped up in front of him.

Their eyes met...

"Kyle, what's wrong with your eye? Why is there such a big black eye?"

"Nothing!"

Kyle quickly raised his hand to cover his left eye. He said solemnly, "I accidentally bumped into the table. It's normal to have a bruise."

"Could a bruise be that round?" Cedric sat down on the ground, stroking his chin, "It looks like someone punched you."

"Impossible, you're overthinking it!" Kyle said sternly, "Even if you don't believe me, don't you believe in Hufflepuff? This is the warmest family in all of Hogwarts. How could there be such a violent person?"

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"That's true, maybe it was a fall?" Cedric nodded in agreement.

He didn't believe that someone in Hufflepuff would beat up a new student on the first day. That kind of thing usually only happens in Slytherin.

But he still didn't understand. If it was a fall, how could the "black eye" be so round?

A natural talent?

Just as Cedric was baffled, Prefect Harris finished talking.

"From today, we're classmates. If you need help with anything, just ask. Don't be shy.

Hufflepuff is a warm family. Every senior, including me, will help you.

You must be tired now. I'll take you to your dorms. Patty, you take care of the girls."

Kyle was relieved. He quickly got up from the sofa and followed the group. He didn't even say goodbye to Cedric.

Led by Harris, Kyle quickly arrived at his dormitory.

Like the common room, the main color scheme here was also yellow and black.

Copper lamps cast a warm glow on the four-poster beds. There were also copper bed warmers on the wall, which kept the students' beds at the most comfortable temperature.

There were two other people in the dorm with him.

Mickel Drake is a skinny boy with black hair.

The other one was blond and relatively muscular. His name was Ryan Bakins.

Well, both of them were unknown nobodies.

As for the remaining bed, it was empty. It seemed like there weren't enough new students.

Kyle tilted his head and briefly greeted the two before climbing onto his bed.

"Hey, this is amazing, right? I'm a wizard." Mickel sat on the edge of the bed, excitedly saying, "Nobody in my family can do magic. My dad sells drilling rigs and my mom works at a bank. So, at first, I thought that letter was just a prank. I didn't think it was real.

Haha, Hogwarts… I still feel like I'm dreaming."

"I'm half and half. You know, a half-blood, like wizards usually call it."

Ryan, with his golden hair, added, "My dad's a wizard and my mom's a Muggle. She was terrified when she found out."

"Of course, it's normal for people who haven't been exposed to magic." Mickel said, "You can't imagine how shocked my parents were when the professor, whose name was Quirrell, appeared at our house. They almost called the police.

He just suddenly appeared in front of us, and said that was called… transposition… relocation?"

"Apparition." Kyle reminded him quietly.

"Right, right, Apparition."

Mickel looked over and his eyes suddenly lit up, "Hey, I remember you. You're Kyle Chopper, the one who took twenty minutes to be sorted, right?"

"That's right, nice to meet you," Kyle replied.

"That, can you tell us what happened?" Mickel asked curiously, "Why did your Sorting take so long? Twenty minutes! Longer than all the other new students combined."

"Nothing much." Kyle thought for a moment and said, "The Sorting Hat just kept agonizing over where to put me. It couldn't make up its mind."

"Oh, I see." Mickel said with admiration, "For that hat to think for that long, you must be very talented."

Kyle just smiled and didn't say anything.

He was talented, but it had nothing to do with the Sorting Hat.

Besides, if Mickel knew the real reason why the Sorting Hat was agonizing, he probably wouldn't say that.

For the next while, Mickel was like he had been injected with a stimulant. He kept talking nonstop.

From Diagon Alley to Gringotts, and from Gringotts to choosing wands, he never stopped.

It seemed that becoming a wizard had made him very happy.

At first, Kyle and Ryan could chime in with a few words. But gradually, only Mickel's voice remained in the dorm.

There was no way they could hold on.

They were already sleepy after eating. Plus, they had been on the train for over ten hours. It was already difficult to stay awake until now.

Kyle wanted to chat with his roommates and strengthen their friendship, but the warmth of the bed was too comfortable. He unconsciously fell asleep.

Ryan fell asleep even faster. He had been silent for five minutes.
