The Red star is falling

The Red star is falling

Still, he ran straight behind the big cupboard in the room, peeking from behind as he watched someone walk in.

It was someone dressed in a servant’s waist cloth, and Kahr wasn’t surprised to watch him suddenly freeze. He had a stunned look on his face the moment he walked in and laid eyes on Rurt’s very dead body which laid on his back, his chest covered in blood, leaving a grotesque scene for anyone who came across it.

The servant slightly gasped right before turning around and rushing out of the room five times faster than when he came in.

Kahr heaved a little sigh of relief as he also instantly ran out of there the moment he was sure the servant was gone.

It was obvious that the servant was bound to come back, bringing even more people back. He wasn’t seen and removing every sign or traces that he had ever been there was his goal as he ran as fast as he could to his house.

The first thing he did was pee on his waist cloth he currently wore before moving to soak it in a small bowl, leaving it there for the smell to saturate every inch of it before taking a small bath and changing into a brand new cloth.

When he was finally sure that nothing could implicate him, he began to vigorously jump up and down until sweat began to stream down his face.

{What exactly are you doing? Is this supposed to help you kill Kon or Roe?}

{Don’t forget that time is ticking. The moment the red star falls you’ll instantly appear in the Battle Hall whether or not you’ve completed your quest}

Karh continued to ignore the voice in his has as he continued jumping and didn’t atop until he was bone tired and there was no part of his body that wasn’t covered in sweat before he finally laid on the bare ground.

He knew exactly how little time he had, and how impossible it was for him to kill give of his brothers in such a little time, but Kahr still had every intention of trying his best.

If there was anyone that deserved to live, it was him.

The news of the death of one of the Carhan’s children was bound to be a big deal especially when it wasn’t him.

He however, didn’t have to wait long and had only just laid on the ground when heavy knocks rang on his door.

“You have been summoned by the Carhan…” a loud voice yelled heavily from outside the room followed by another series of heavy knocks before Karh who had been standing right in front of the door, starting quietly at it finally moved.

His chest was slightly bent and he had a look of abject agony on his face as he slowly slid open the door, coming face to face with Carhan’s head servant, Xana.

“Come out! You have been summoned!” he ordered not at all, giving Kahr any respect as he went as far as to do his best to stare down at him even if Kahr was slightly taller.

“I…I’m extremely sick. My stomach really hurts. Is it really that urgent for me to…”

“Are you defying the Carhan’s words?”

Kahr nervously shook his head, groaning in obvious pain as he tentatively stepped out and began to slowly follow Xana as much as he could.

Xana’s noises of annoyance at having to walk so slowly beside Kahr could be heard all the way there, and it only ended when they finally got to the front of the house where the Carhan was seated on a high chair, with his five brothers, Ron, Roe, Nox, Froh and Drue stood with clearly annoyed expressions

On their faces one that made it clear that they had been fiercely arguing before he came.

“Are we supposed to wait for you?” The Carhan’s voice boomed, filled with annoyance the moment they appeared, even though all his focus was on Xana instead, not even sparing Kahr a single glance.

Kahr felt the intense gaze of his brothers bore on him but he didn’t even flinch as he raised his head and pretended to be fine, while ensuring that his limbs trembled in a way that wouldn’t be missed.

“KAHR…” The Carhan, his father suddenly yelled and Kahr made a show of shaking so much he was about to fall to his knees, when deep in his heart he didn’t give a shit.

His chances of surviving the day was extremely slim, why should he concern himself with the Carhan who wouldn’t spare his entire existence a glance.

“Did you go to your brothers house?”

Instantly a deep look of confusion flashed across his very sweaty face as he turned to look at his brothers standing closer to his father on both sides while he stood slightly far away in the center.

“My…my brother’s h…”

“RURT…did you go to Rurt’s house!” he bellowed and even before he was done yelling Karh was already shaking his head with a look of extreme fear in his eyes.

“I…I would never. I only follow Ron. I felt sick so I’ve been in my house, throwing up. I…I’ve also been in the toilet. It's been hard to…”

“Father!” Nox suddenly growled from the side with a look of abject disgust on his face.

“Are we really going to suspect this idiot of having something to do with Rurt’s death?”

Karh couldn’t help the feeling of delight he felt at hearing Nox’s words even as he gasped in shocked, making sure to produce a few coughs right after.

“Kurgh…kuf…Ru…Rurt is dead?” but of course no one paid him any mind, no one but Kon whose gaze was fixed on him for some extra seconds before he finally looked away.

“I also do not think this idiot could have done it,” Froh spoke up, even though the last thing he would have wanted was to agree to agree with Nox.

“Really? You sound confident. Is it you then? Or maybe it's it was a cooperation between two people,” Drue also spoke up.

“How dare you?”

“You dare?”

Nox and Froh yelled in anger almost at the same time even as Drue simply shrugged and smirked as he stood where he was with his arms folded around his chest.

“There was no trace of battle. It was obvious a dishonourable killing. The healer has tested for poison over and over again and no traces of it can be found. What other conclusion is left but a gangup?”

“I agree with Drue,” Kon suddenly announced making the tension filled atmosphere even more strained than before.

“Mhmmm…his sword was tossed to the ground and he was obviously naked. He had either just finished with one of his lovers or about to begin. If someone cooperated with one of his lovers then I definitely see how it could have happened. Still, I don’t really see a motive. Why would any of us want to so desperately kill Rurt?” Roe began analyzing with a deep look in his eye as he looked around at each of his brothers trying to gauge their reactions from their expressions and the way they behaved but coming up with nothing.

“He’s slightly annoyed?” said Nox with a alightly irritated look.

“Always smiling in a perverted manner?” Froh also offered an opinion.

“Do we really need a reason to kill each other?” Drue said,

“The lesser the competition the better,” Roe added with a nonchalant shrug. Yes, the way Rurt died was a pity but that didn’t mean that any of them actually cared.

The only reason they were there was because of their father THE CARHAN.

After listening to them speak back and forth with none of them opening their mouth to confess, the carhan, their father finally made a decision.

“LISTEN! ORVIAN WILL USE THE TRUTH SERUM ON ALL OF YOU,” The Carhan had only just announced it when all the faces of his five brothers changed, showing varying expressions from shock to anger and utter disgust.

Karh was still jubilating in his heart seeing how things were going when he suddenly heard his father’s words and he visibly shook, but otherwise not daring to open his mouth and say a word.

The truth serum was a small corporation made by the healer using some of the bits if their ancestors remains. Kahr had no idea how it was done but he had seen it be used only once and he knew beyond reasonable doubt that it actually worked.

Just when Karh was still trying to wrap his head around what he was going to do to avoid the death sentence on his head, Orvian the healer finally stepped out from inside the Carhan’s main house.

Everyone’s attention was immediately draw to him as they watched him open his mouth to speak.

“No traces of poison was found. Which means that the person that killed Cui Rurt was someone he was very familiar with,” Orvain said his eyes gliding over all the brothers as he spoke, even as his gaze skipped right over Kahr.

“Prepare the Truth serum for them all. Rurt died a dishonorable death and was obviously sneaked upon instead of being given a chance to die an honorable death. I might know who did it,” Carhan said and although Orvain was slightly stunned at first, he instantly accepted it.

“Yes My lord I’ll prepare six…five serums my lord?”

Karh could feel his heart threatening to burst in his chest.

Never had he been so glad to be trash and looked down on all his life the moment he head Orvain’s words.

For the first time since he stood in front of his father, not once breaking his sick act he delivered slightly as his father’s gaze shifted and landed on him.

A few seconds of stony silence passed before his father finally spoke.

“Make five. We wouldn’g want to waste important resources. If there’s no reault then you’ll make a last one,”

Karh ensured…he made sure that there was absolutely no change in the expression of his face as he went as far as to hold his breath even as he heard his father agree.

His brothers also saw no reason to disagree and Orviak moved to go back in.

Karh instantly realized in a split second that he’ll never get a better chance as he suddenly opened his mouth to speak even before he had finished the thoughts that were slowly being assembled in his head.

“I…I can help. I’m sorry to ask this but I’ll also like it if Orvian could take a look at my stomach. I feel so sick, I fear I might throw up…” Karh said, making a gesture to cover his mouth even as he said so, not at all minding the disgusting looks that we're thrown in his direction.

“Come in…” he heard Orvian hurriedly say and he instantly moved, his body bent in pain and bending even lower as he passed beside Carhan and made his way inside.

The moment he entered Orvian tossed a black pill at him, one he made a show of instantly swallowing without complaining before taking a sit inside by the wall.

Orvain worked extremely quickly but he could see that he was making five different powdery substances which he places on five different patches of waved cloth made with different colors.

He kept going back and forth, which was obviously to get the materials he needed, and Kahr patiently waited with bated breaths for the perfect time when Orvian would leave through the back door and head for the ancestral tomb.

He could feel his heart race in his chest, his eyes watering heavily as he realized that if everything worked according to plan, he could kill all his brothers all at once and blame it entirely on Orvian.

{Hmphh…With your shitty luck…just stay away from it. What if someone catches when you’re feeling with it? The Carhan will immediately slice your head off. What if Orvian comes back? If you persevere and wait for a better chance you can still live}

The voice in his head had barely finished speaking when Karh chuckled to himself, in a way that Orvian couldn’t help but glance at him before completely ignoring him actions as nothing but foolandery.

{What the hell’s funny?}

He had expected to be ignored by Karh like he had been for a while, but didn’t at all understand why he would suddenly burst into laughter.

‘Since I’ve met you. This is the only time I’ve ever heard you say so much at once. Makes me feel that I might actually be doing something right,’

{Hmph…if you die, You die. It has nothing to do with me}

‘If I die, I die. The worst thing is not to at least try,’ Kahr thought to himself, slightly lost in a daze only for his eyes to auddenly fly open as he watched Orvian back his bags and all the ingredients he had used, leaving only five patches of powdery substance on the floor.

Watching him get on his feet and move towards the back door, Kahr was tempted to plead and beg and ak him if he was going to tge ancestorial tomb.

If Karh was wrong and he wasn’t heading there and he acted then of course he would be unable to do anything before he came back and he would still get caught.

If he was right and he refused to act then he would be as good as dead.

Kahr couldn’t help the bad feeling he had that the moment his brother’s drank the serum the red star would fall and he would be teleported to the battle hall, where his troubles began, a place that was slowly beginning to look like his grave.

Karh watched Orvian leave the room and for a few seconds listening to nothing but the sound of his breathing, he didn’t move.

‘If I move and I’m wrong…”

‘But if I don’t move will I really have another chance,’ Kahr thought to himself feeling how sweaty the palm of his hands felt as he crawled slowly towards where the five substances were staring at them without doing anything.

A few extra seconds went by before Karh finally made his move, grabbing Orvian’s bag like a dying man who had just been given the gift of life.

“Poison…any…any poison…” Karh muttered to himself as he began to gently sift through the bag seeing various types of things wrapped together but completely clueless of their effects.

{He…He…What if you add something that makes them even stronger than before}

Karh could hear the voice’s pleasure at his obvious dilemma.

{Tick…tock…he’ll be here any minute,}

{Oh did I forget to notify you Inheritor number 506#? The red star will fall in less than fifteen minutes}
