Chapter 4

The first thing he felt when he gained consciousness was a searing pain in his head, one that threatened to burn a deep hole right through his skull.

Followed by the sound of a deep voice in his head.

{System initiation Quest- Kill all six brothers}

{You have two chances left}

For a split second, he was completely lost until the memories of what happened to him suddenly gushed into his mind like a huge dam that was suddenly blown apart.

The pain of his arms being sliced cleanly off his shoulders was still fresh in his mind, right before his legs were taken off.

He had wished for death, yet death didn't come fast enough.

He had to watch in horror as they each went ahead mock him right before Kon, delivered the final blow to his neck.

Karh was still lost in his thoughts when he suddenly heard the door being slammed.Raising his head, his eyes flickered open to meet that of Roe, his second brother.

The next moment he could barely control his emotions as he stared at him with hate filled eyes only to recall his current situation as he watched Roe's feet descend on him with a fury.

'I made a mistake…" Karh swore in his mind, knowing exactly what was in store for him.

The kicks were heavy, and all Karh could do was hold his arms up to shield his head. From past experience, the worst injury he had ever had was one to his head that left him incapacitated for days, teethering on the edge of death.

"You good for nothing! TRASH! HOW DARE YOU LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT!" Kon yelled aiming his heavy foot right at Karh's ribs and stomach with the intent of crushing it to bits.

The sight of him was an eyesore to him, with him having to abide his presence yet the trash in front of him dared to raise his eyes to glare at him.

No matter how much Roe kicked Karh, his anger didn't in any way diminish as it only seemed to increase even more, pissed at how well Karh seemed to painlessly accept his beating.

"You think you're so great hun?" Roe suddenly asked as he stopped kicking Karh.

But instead of the expression of relief Karh should have felt the moment Roe stopped kicking him, what he felt instead was despair knowing better than anyone else what was next.

Roe did stop for a second only to continue with his fists this time around, while specifically aiming for Karh's head.

"Aurgh…"

Karh could barely holding in the groans in his throat, as he would have loved nothing more than to scream his head off or at least avoid the punches better.

Still, he knew that doing so would only prolong his pain and make Roe even more angry than he already was, so instead Karh simply laid there and took the beating ignoring the faint smell of his own blood in the air.

Karh gritted and grinded his teeth together until his jaws ached. Tears pooled in his eyes and he was sure that the bones in both his arms were beyond bruised.

But just when he felt Roe's punches lessen in intensity a familiar voice, one with a faint tone of anger rang deeply in his head.

{System Initiation Quest- Kill all Six brothers}

{This would be an opportune time to kill Number Two- Roe}

'With what my teeth? Who knows, if you give me a good weapon, I could hold it in my mouth and attack since my arms are obviously useless,' Karh responded in mockery slightly glad for the distraction of the voice in his head.

{No weapons are available at this level}

'What immense luck I have,'

{But you still have two chances}

{However, if you choose to quit and relinquish all rights to the inheritance…I can end your life swiftly in less than a second,}

'Thank you. It's nice to know that you're not completely useless,' but Karh has just responded in his mind when he felt a heavy blow at the side of his head one that made him so dizzy for a couple of seconds, he was almost convinced that his eyes had been affected.

"ROE," the sudden voice of Kon was suddenly heard after the loud sound of a door being swung open.

"You know the rules. You're not allowed to kill him. I'm in charge of him,"

"Don't act like a savior Kon, you get off on making him suffer, moreover you're already slowly killing him already…"

"Thats none of your business…get your hands off him!" Kon yelled in a loud voice stepping closer to Roe who didn't even show any intention to let go of Karh's neck which was tightly clenched in his left hand.

"I won't tell you again…" Kon calmly declared, gripping the edge of his sword in a way that had Roe glaring hatefully at him, even as he finally relaxed his grip on Karh's neck.

Karh was largely conscious enough to hear Kon's voice and he would have been beyond grateful for being rescued even by him if not for the traumatic events that were still fresh in his memory.

With blurry eyes, he watched and heard Roe stump his feet harshly on the floorboards as he left.

"Are you just going to lie there? GET UP!" Kon barked at Karh who could already imagine the angry expression on his face as he stood over him.

Barely showing a pained expression on his face, Karh struggled to his feet, doing his best to stand extremely still in a way that would not aggravate the pain in his arms, legs and body.

"I'm sorry Kon. I've disappointed you," Karh slightly bowed, biting his lower lip until it bled to prevent him from groaning in pain as he bent his head like he usually did when speaking to Kon.

"It's good that you know. Go in…" Kon ordered right before entering back into his house.

For a few seconds, Karh couldn't help but freeze, especially since he knew exactly what was waiting for him behind the door.

{If this quest is too hard for you…all you have to do is quit. I PROMISE! You won't feel any pain}

The voice in his head softly whispered into his mind bringing him out of the slight daze he found himself in, as he finally stepped in through the door to see the same servant he expected holding the same old bowl.

Unlike before, he didn't move and simply stood watching from afar until he heard Kon speak from where he sat down watching a few steps away.

"You've done this too many time to not know what to do…"

Karh knew that but he also knew that if he actually swallowed whatever was in the bowl then his chances of killing even one of the brothers would instantly become zero.

He had already been beaten thoroughly enough for him to feel enormous aches on different parts of his body, and at that exact moment Karh saw no reason not to multiply it.

The moment he heard Kon speak he moved forward towards the servant as submissively as he could with his head slightly bowed, showing how willing he was to accept it like always.

But he had just gotten about two feet away from the servant when he suddenly slipped and fell head first, making sure not to cushion his fall in any way.

"Thwack,"

Karh grinded his teeth against his lips to draw enough blood, one he allowed to slip right out of the corner of his mouth as he raised his head up in Kon's direction with heavy tears in his eyes.

"I'm sorry… I'm much more wounded than I look. Every…everywhere hurts…" Karh mumbled with obvious difficulty groaning loudly on the floor in pain.

Even as he did so, he didn't miss the indifferent expression on Kon's face as he looked in his direction.

"Then Joai my servant will feed you," Kon responded ordering his servant to do so with a simple snap of his fingers, even as Karh's face became even paler than before.

He had only two chances left and Karh knew that even if he didn't kill all six he needed to make enough progress this time or he would indeed fail the nonsensical quest, which he had no doubt would kill him since the only reason he was still alive was because of the voice from the red ball.

'This Forgotten Inheritance better be worth it,' he grumbled to himself even as he got his act together going as far as grind his teeth against his inner lips even more, allowing more blood to pool in his mouth.

His nails weren't particularly strong but the force with which he clawed at his skin was enough to draw blood and that was all he needed as he coughed and began to groan and scream no longer holding back the mind blowing imaginary pains he felt.

'Even with your black heart…I want to know how you'll still feed such a thing to me,' Karh wondered finally bringing out the best acting move he could think of.

He clawed at the clothes tied around his waist until he was almost completely naked.

Pleading with tears in his eyes in a very hoarse voice.

"Help me! Help me! My chest it…it hurts," Karh cried as loudly as he could.
