Gates of Vanhellam
I wouldn't if I were you.

I wouldn't if I were you.

Kahr simply stood still and watched with a slight trace of confusion on his face, surprised to see that Mr Z didn’t stop everyone from talking like before and simply allowed them to continue asking questions.

Karh didn’t know why but in a split second right after he heard the first few questions asked he also opened his mouth and yelled out his question with hopes that he would also get a chance.

“What does it mean to be…?” but even before the first few words were out of his mouth, he heard more questions echo in the atmosphere above him.

“How can we all get out of here right now?”

“Who are you and where do you come from?”

“Why were we all brought here?”

“Ding…ding…ding,”

A couple of more questions had only just been asked when an ear splitting sound of a bell rang heavily in the hall loud enough to make everyone shut their mouths and focus solely on trying to cover their ears.

“Question time is over!” Mr Z calmly said, the image portrayed in the screens no longer a smiley and jovial one as he reached out into the air beside him, to catch a small sheet of paper.

“Hmmm…lets see,” he mumbled but his head had barely lowered to read whatever was on it when his head suddenly snapped up, the weird grin he previously had was back up on his face.

“Oops…silly me. I can’t believe I forgot to inform you about my one rule regarding question and answer sessions….”

“…still, it's probably because I figured it was obviously something you all would be able to figure out…” Mr Z continued with an exaggerated sigh and Karh couldn’t even pretend to be surprised when he heard his next words.

“…I don’t answer repeated questions. So all the five people who asked Fiona Niells question, Karno Lee, Hoasi Joran, Goran Bare, Joana Dell and Dora Nowells, all four questions have become void,”

The instant hate and tension in the air was palpable and Karh knew that all four of them would do well to forever keep their names to themselves. Mr Z though completely ignored everything else as he simply continued strolling through the list in his hand.

“Solman Jin, ‘How can we everyone get home”,

Loud sighs and happy expressions could be seen everywhere with almost everyone thanking Solman Jin in their hearts.

“Whosoever gets the forgotten inheritance gets to do whatever they want. Even if it's to go through the gates back to wherever they came from…”

“How can we all get out of her right now? By Kuzaki Haru. Easy, after my game you’ll all get to leave,” Mr Z responded with a small chuckle before he continued speaking with an even more evil glint in his eyes which could only be barely seen through the holes in the mask.

“Who are you and where do you come from? By Raj Shaan. VanHellam of course, where mortals return,”

The whispers around got even louder as the confusion everyone felt was palpable.

‘What kind of completely useless answers are these? Is he indirectly saying he’s from the afterlife? But that's impossible!”

“Why we're we all brought here? Paul Muller. By Random selection, Moreover you all chose to be here didn’t you. Do you accept the inheritance? You all said yes,”

“…yes but the voice in my head was the one who told me to accept…” the thirteen year old girl on Karh’s line whose name he didn't know suddenly opened her mouth to loudly speak, and for a split second, Karh couldn’t help but be terrified on her behalf.

From Mr Z’s actions, it was obvious that something wasn’t right with him, what if he suddenly got pissed at being directly spoken to, Karh thought with slight anxiety only to see the image of him on the screen simply shrug and quietly respond.

“…oh you mean those parasi…those things. Regardless of what they told you, you’re the one who still decided to do it. So indirectly you all brought yourself here…”

“…but mine said the moment I touched the ball, I had no choice but to…”

“QUIET!!!” His voice thundering across the hall and for a split second, Karh could have sworn he saw his eyes change color only to look more intense and see that nothing has changed.

“Question and Answer time is over,” he yelled in a voice dripping with obvious disdain and annoyance as he seemed to look down and around at everyone at the same time.

“He…he, It's time for my little game,” he sighed, with pleasure a soft smile back on his face as he spoke and Karh couldn’t help but mentally prepare himself.

For him, he somehow preferred seeing him get angry to watching him smile, especially since with Mr Z’s anger he knew absolutely what to expect.

“If you pass then you’ll get to leave here for the world, I’ve carefully prepared. If not…well then I guess this is the end of the road for you,”

Karh instantly felt a sudden chill in his heart, moving his hands to pat the invisible dagger he had hooked around his waist, physically ready for whatever was going to happen.

Karh had suffered too much to allow himself suddenly die without even knowing why or where. Moreover, at that moment, he cared about no one else but himself. Even if he had to kill the smaller children he could see around him, Karh was ready to do it as he listened to Mr Z continue to explain his game. One he was sure was absolutely nothing good.

“I did mention at the beginning how lazy I am right…well it's true. In this game. All you have to do is search for your number…” Mr Z said with a grin that was wider than any he had ever showed since he appeared.

He was about to say more when he suddenly began to chuckle, one that suddenly became full-blown laughter as he heaved and coughed bent over his cane for a few seconds before he finally managed to calm himself down.

“EHehe…”

“AHhhh…”

“…you have ten…hmmm let's make it fifteen. Everyone in this hall has fifteen minutes to find their number. Yes, your inheritor’s number. I’ve taken the time to toss it in different sections of this hall. Find it and you pass. Failure means…

“Oh…I wouldn’t if I were you,” he said in a very melancholic tone that only served to send a fearful shiver down Karh’s spine.
