Get back home!

Get back home!

It was the fact that apart from his mouth, the rest of his face was covered with a white mask, with a huge letter Z written boldly on it.

“WELCOME! My name for anyone wondering what to call me is MR Z. Even if only a few of you would ever see my face after today,” He sighed in a clearly melancholic tone that only served to worry Karh as he stood stiffly taking note of every single word the man on the screen uttered.

It wouldn’t be exaggerated to say that he was even going as far as to cram it, in case there was a clue for whatever was to happen next.

“I don’t like to talk much especially since I’m LAZY so we’ll do a question and answer sort of session. You guys will ask questions…mhm…lets say ten and I’ll answer them before MY game starts,” Karh heard him say taking note of a few key points but not completely sure if it would be any good.

There was absolute silence in the entire expanse of the hall as everyone seemed to listen with rapt attention. Even after the man in the huge screens above them suddenly stopped talking, no one thought to speak.

“Okay…you can begin asking your questions…after this we’ll then play a tiny little game…” he sighed giving them a little nudge with a big smirk on his face as he did so not surprised when regardless of what he said, not a single person opened their mouth to speak.

Karh instantly understood how cruel the man on the screen in front of him was.

Around him alone, counting the people he could see, we're people in the thousands. Not to mention those far beyond his sight in the endless hall.

How possible is it for all of them to suddenly get only ten questions?

The moment someone opened their mouth to speak everywhere would erupt in chaos.

Karh could feel the palpable tension in the air coupled with his own nervousness, as he looked around.

He had questions he wanted to ask, so did the other ten thousand or so people around him but there were only ten slots to do so.

‘Maybe someone smart would ask about why we are here?’ Karh thought to himself, restricting himself from speaking with a little hope in his heart.

But as generous as Karh was, there were a lot of people that were the direct opposite.

Only a few seconds had passed since Z finished talking, throwing the question session open to everyone when the silence was finally broken.

Karh couldn’t see the person but the person’s voice resounded loudly in the space above them loud enough for everyone there to hear, as the feminine voice suddenly screamed out her question as quickly as she could not caring about anything else.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

“HOW CAN I GET BACK HOME!”

The second the silence was broken every single person around Karh opened their mouth to instantly bark out their individual questions.

But they had barely opened their mouths to speak when everyone quickly realized that although their mouths moved, no matter how hard they tried they couldn’t make a single sound.

Even Karh couldn't stop himself from attempting to speak, the moment he saw the strange phenomenon happen.

The fear in his heart, at the power it took to be able to do such a thing intimidated him. In a single second, he was able to affect so many people.

“Hush…hush now little ones. It's called a question and answer session for a reason…” the man on the screen suddenly spoke, drawing everyone’s attention back to himself.

“Now back to the number one question asked by “Flora Niell” {How can I Get back home}. If she had used ‘we’, ‘all of us’, ‘everyone’ then it might have benefitted you all but alas! she decided to use ‘I’ so the answer is bound to only be specific to her. But who knows it might also help some other people,”

Listening to Mr Z’s response Karh instantly knew that the last thing he’ll ever want to be is ‘Flora Niell’ as he felt a strange hate swell up in his heart towards her as he heard Mr Z speak.

He couldn't even think of how many people would like nothing more than to hurt her at that very moment.

“Ehe…he…,”Mr Z loudly chucked before going ahead to answer.

“It's pretty simple. If you’re able to get to…Mrs Q, I’ll make an exception for you and instantly send you home,” he said with a high grin on his face.

Karh couldn’t see the upper part of his face but it was quite obvious that he was enjoying himself as he leaned against the came in his hand.

“Next question!”

But his words had barely echoed in the hall, when Karh heard a huge amount of people speak at the same time.

“Shut up! No one ask any question or I’ll kill you myself…”

“There has to be a system for this…”

“It's obvious that the second you ask a question he’s going to announce your name…moreover we have no idea what the game we’re going to play is going to be,”

And even in the noise of people talking at the same time trying to convince people not to ask any questions until they have a plan.

Some people still went ahead to ask their own questions, tossing all caution to the wind.

“What about me? How can I get home? I have two young children…I can’t stay here,” his voice about two decimals higher than everyone else’s.

The moment everyone realized that another question had been asked, it was almost as if a dam suddenly exploded. Whatever order some sets of people had been trying to obtain was suddenly and completely smashed.

“Me too! How can I get back home?”

“How can I get back home? I don’t want to do any useless quests”

“How can I get back home?”

“How can I also get back home?”

“How can everyone get back home?”
