Interviewer: "Thank you so much for agreeing to this interview."

Jake: "Any time."

I: "To start us off, what's your full name?"

J: "Jake Kiorn Addams."

I: " Kiorn? that's an interesting middle name."

J: " My mother really wanted to name her first kid after herself, her name was Kiorna, but my dad was against it since I ended up being a guy. They settled on letting me have the name as a middle name and they changed it to Kiorn."

I: " Speaking of family, how many siblings do you have?"

J: " Just the two, Frona and Luca. My mom died when I was seven and my dad died when I was twelve."

I: " Oh, that's unfortunate to hear."

J: "It's been a while since it happened and even back then he spent a lot of time away on trips for work."

I: "Trips for work? what did he work as?"

J: "We used to live out in the south where he was in the military. He got sent all around the place."

I:" Oh, why did you guys end up moving?"

J: "Well, my stepmom was an exchange student when they met and .. made Frona. My dad felt kinda guilty about it so he decided to move to where she was familiar with. He also didn't couldnt to put her kids in the military as he did with me."

I: "Was it mandatory to put kids into the military?"

J: " Not really but there are more military schools than 'normal' schools over there. And as a member of the military, he would have gotten a lot of incentives for having his kids enrolled in an affiliated school. it would have been pretty difficult to come up with a reason why he didn't want them in military schools."

I: "Was there a particular reason why he didn't want them in the military?"

J: "He would have been thrilled to have them enrolled in the military but my stepmom would have thrown a fit. She's... not a fan of the military." 

I: "Does that have anything to do with why you decided to become a sports student?"

J: "I can't say it didn't have anything to do with it but it wasn't a huge consideration. The move was pretty hasty so we needed to find something to put me in quick and there weren't many options. I was already ten by the time we moved here, so I couldn't compare with the other kids that had been training in things like acting or singing since they were infants. I also wasn't particularly talented in either. I didn't like using my head too much back then either and would throw a huge tantrum if anyone so much as put a workbook in front of me so going into business or law wasn't much of an option for me.  Going into sports was really the only option left."

I: "But why go into an art school? I'm sure there were more direct lines to becoming a professional athlete."

J: "Well, that's where my step-mother's opinion had an impact. Most sport-focused schools had roots in the military since a lot of the students come from the south. She didn't force me into anything but I got the feeling she was a lot happier when I chose the school that I did."

I: "Looks like you're really close to your Stepmom?"

J: "I guess you could say that. I mean, I'm grateful towards her more than anything. Even back when my dad was alive she tried her best to become close to me, even though she didn't have any plans on becoming a mom, never mind a stepmom. And after my dad died she didn't send me off for adoption or anything and tried to help me get through losing both parents."

I: "That's admirable. but isn't it a bit weird to have Mother figure that's only nine years older than yourself?"

J: "Well, more than a mother figure I'd say she was more like an older sister or an aunt? She's never tried to be my mom and I never wanted her too. Even though Frona and Luca are my step-siblings they feel more like my niece and nephew."

I: "You went to live in the dorms when you were fourteen, did that have anything to do with it?"

J: "When my dad died I all but threw myself into my school work and my sports as a sort of coping mechanism. My results ended up improving a lot and I got approached for a scholarship by the school when I was thirteen. One of the clauses was that I would move into the dorms and live with the rest of the team.  I figured it was a good idea since my stepmom wouldn't have to worry about feeding three kids and I could use the allowance from the scholarship to help out."

I:" Again, very admirable Mr. Addams." 

J: "Well, hardly."  

I: "On a bit of a lighter note, would you consider yourself more of a dog person or a cat person?"

J: "I'm actually not much of an animal person in general. If I needed someone else to invest my energy and care into I'd just make more of an effort to look after Finn, at least then I'd get to drive his car more often."

I: " You've become popular in the past few years, and have done more than a couple of advertisements. out of all of them which would you say was the hardest to pull off?"

J: "Definitely the one for that phone company.  They wanted to show off how durable their phones were so they had us in different 'settings'. I got to be a merman and had to spend about seven hours in a tank pretending to talk on a phone while trapped in a silicone tail."

I: "And the easiest?"

J: "Well, I wouldn't say any were easy but the one that I could say was the most fun was actually for a smaller company. they had me and a couple of kids playoff against a couple of athletes. It was a fun game and we got their autographs after."

I: "Well, it looks like that's all for now. but thank you for your time!"

J: "Any time."
