37. Aunt Sue 2.

Zach approached Sue and placed his hand on her forehead. Noticing that she had a fever, he asked her worriedly.

"You're burning up. Did you sleep last night?"

"I think you should rest a bit before leaving again."

"What do you think?"

Sue listened to every single word Zach uttered and had only one question in mind since she could hear his sincere concern in his words. However, she was still dumbfounded by what she was seeing.

'Is this really Zach?' she wondered to herself, staring at his eyes which looked worried and anxious to hear her response to his question.

Sue couldn't help but notice how his gaze seemed so different from the emotionless gaze she'd been accustomed to for years.

It almost felt like Zach was now a completely different person.

'It's exactly how Jade, Aurora and Luna described it, Zach has really changed from the gloomy boy he used to be,' Sue thought to herself as her lips broadened into a smile.

"Aunt..."

"Aunt Sue?"

Sue was pulled out of her thoughts by Zach's words. She noticed Zach looking at her with a confused look on his face and it was then she realized that she'd been staring at him for a while now.

She cleared her throat to break the awkward moment between them, and then she asked. "I'm sorry, what were you trying to say?"

"I said you should rest a bit before leaving the mansion. Your body is burning up and it will be bad for your health if you don't take a nap," Zach said, placing a hand on his Aunt's cheek.

Sue's lips widened into a smile. It was the first time she'd seen Zach so worried about her and she couldn't help but notice how cute and grown-up he had become.

Sue raised her soft hand to cover Zach's hand which was still on her cheek.

"I'm fine, Zach. You don't have to worry about me, but since you insist, then I'll definitely take a rest after I've told you why I summoned you to my room."

"You promise?" Knowing his Aunt, Zach was certain she wouldn't do what she said and might change her mind at the last minute.

Hearing Zach's question, Sue was filled with a sense of nostalgia as she recalled how Zach always asked her to make a promise whenever he wanted her to do something for him.

Of course, this had been before he became cursed so those were good memories between the two of them before Zach lost his mother.

"I promise," Sue promised with a smile while drawing an imaginary 'X' on the left side of her chest which made her two heavenly-sized mountain peaks jiggle with every movement she made.

Out of all the females living in the mansion, there was no doubt whose bust size was the biggest.

Her two large mountain peaks were nothing but pure softness as they jiggled with the slightest movement.

Hearing the words of his Aunt, a smile appeared on Zach's face and he pulled his hand away before saying. "Okay, I'll believe you. So, why did you call for me?"

"Yeah, that reminds me. Since today is your birthday, I thought I should explain how you can carry out your mana core...." Sue began to explain why she called him to her room but stopped mid-sentence when she noticed something different about Zach.

Upon looking closely at Zach, she could see that mana was evenly distributed around his body.

This meant that he had not only awakened his mana core but had also mastered the art of mana control as well.

"You've awakened your mana core?" Sue asked with a surprised look on her face.

"Yes."

"B-but how?"

"With the help of a friend."

"A friend?"

"Well, she's more like my boss than a friend," Zach's words only puzzled his Aunt even more as she tried to understand what he was talking about and some of the fatigue she'd been trying so hard to suppress suddenly resurfaced, causing her head to ache a bit.

Sue rubbed her forehead a bit and a green glowing mana encompassed her hand and soothed the throbbing pain on her forehead before she opened her mouth to speak.

"I think we should take a seat," Sue suggested and Zach nodded in understanding as they both walked towards the alcove of Sue's bedroom.

The moment the both of them sat on the plush cushion, Sue immediately asked her question.

"So, what did you mean when you said your boss helped you? Do you have a job now?"

Zach nodded in response. "Yes, I do and she explained to me what needed to be done to have a successful mana core awakening."

Listening to Zach's words, Sue finally understood what he had meant.

Sue wasn't really surprised to hear that Zach had a successful mana core awakening through his boss, but she was surprised by how quickly he was able to get a job.

Just like most other jobs in the city, becoming an artist was quite difficult.

Jade had briefed Sue on Zach's desire to sell some of his paintings today and also become an apprentice of an experienced artist if he were lucky enough.

Artists were extremely wealthy even though their jobs were less dangerous than those of a knight, adventurer and hero.

And this also made it extremely difficult to become one.

However, it seemed like Zach was able to successfully become an apprentice, judging by the way he used the word 'boss' when describing the woman who helped him to awaken his mana core.

Sue couldn't be more proud of what Zach had achieved but she couldn't help but think that he might be doing a bit more than what his body could actually handle.

With this thought in mind, Sue grabbed Zach's hands in hers and said.

"Zach, I'm happy to hear you've got yourself a job, but please try not to overexert yourself. I heard all that you did for Jade and I really appreciate your help, but you need to be mindful of the number of things you decided to take on."
