24. Let Him Cook

Although Aurora hadn't said anything about catching Zach and Jade kissing, he could see she had something on her mind that she wanted to say to him.

So Zach made up his mind to have a talk with Aurora once he was done with today's activities.

With that out of the way, Zach stepped out of the mansion to find Jade already waiting for him.

"Were you able to give your agent a call last night?"

"Yes, I was."

"So, what did he say?"

"He agreed to give us what we need and has sent the location of where we would pick up the new cart and cooking utensils."

"Good, then I guess we should leave immediately," Zach suggested and was expecting Jade to agree to his suggestion as well.

However, she had a worried expression on her face and Zach couldn't help but ask. "What's wrong? Are you having doubts about going?"

Jade shook her head in response. "No, it's not that."

"Then, what is it?"

"It's just...." Jade began but suddenly paused mid-sentence. Then she continued.

"Are you sure you should be accompanying me?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, it is still pretty early in the morning and we'll probably be done a few hours before midnight. Do you think you can endure staying away from the mansion for that long?"

Zach finally understood what Jade was trying to tell him.

Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings.

Everyone in the mansion knew of Zach's curse and runic tattoo spreading across his body, they also knew of the fact that Zach had always been physically weak compared to most people, so Jade didn't want a scenario where Zach would collapse on the floor due to his body being too weak to handle the work.

Jade also knew how much Aunt Sue cared about Zach and why she never allowed him to engage in any house chores like everyone else.

This meant that Sue certainly wouldn't be happy to see Zach ill once she returned home tomorrow.

"It's fine. I'm certain I will be able to stay out of the mansion for a long period of time."

"Are you sure? You don't have to force yourself to help me if you know you can't do it."

Zach could sense the concern laced in her words. As his big sister, Zach's health and well-being were her number one priority and she wouldn't forgive herself if anything were to ever happen to him.

With an appreciative smile on his face, Zach walked towards Jade and grabbed her by the hand. "Nothing is going to happen to me. I'll be fine, but if I do feel some kind of discomfort, I'll let you know immediately."

Jade nodded in relief and said. "Okay"

"Alright, we better get going or we'll miss the train. We have a long day ahead of us and we can't afford to waste more time," Zach held Jade's hand closely as they left the mansion.

Jade couldn't help but smile at Zach's words. She was busy worrying about his well-being but here he was, worried about her job as though it was his. This made Jade adore her little brother even more than she did before.

But as for the things they had to do before the day ended, the list was never-ending.

First, they would have to buy the ingredients they needed for what they wanted to make today.

Then, they would have to pick up the new cart and new utensils along with the permit that would be handed to them as well. This was why Zach wanted their first location and time to be around lunchtime.

Once they were done getting everything they needed, they would aim for the concert, then the guild district, before finally settling near the large coliseum of the city.

A few hours later, it was nighttime.

Zach and Jade had been cooking all day long and although they took turns serving the customers that came to their spot, they were still exhausted due to the constant moving and cooking they did throughout the day.

However, if anyone were to look at them right now, they would see that neither of them looked exhausted even though it had been a hectic day for the both of them.

Currently, there were about fifty customers in front of Zach as he cooked on the cart, with each of them staring at him in awe.

Amidst the crowds, two little girls in particular with cat ears and tails were giggling and talking to each other as they watched Zach completely immersed in what he was doing.

Seeing that Zach was done making a batch of dishes and was about to begin a new batch, the little girls couldn't wait to have a bite.

"Um, Chef Zach, I'd like to be the first this time around to....." The first girl tried to let Zach know of her desire to be the first to eat this new set of food, however, she was interrupted by the girl next to her who prevented her from saying anything else so as not to disturb Zach's complete concentration.

"Shh..... Quiet Shea and let him cook."

The men behind the two girls, who were also eagerly waiting for Zach to be done, folded their arms in unison after listening to what the other girl said and they nodded their heads in tandem.

'Indeed, allow the young man to cook,' They all had the same thought in mind before turning their attention back to Zach.

Zach placed the ingredients he needed on the cooking surface before swiftly grabbing a bottle of cooking oil, and pouring it into the wok on the stove.

Next, he brought out some freshly sliced beef that he had thinly sliced specifically for this moment.

Zach seasoned the sliced beef, before sizzling the beef in the wok, allowing the aroma to seep into the noses of the customers watching him.
