Bringing It Back

Elvis (Voicemail)

Hey Admiral, so things may be finally movin’ along here. Al got us a boat to take to Cuba. Then from there it should be a straight shot to the states. The only trick is we need to get to a dock on the other side of the country. Like Roseline and that other cop aren't gonna stop right? Al seems confident we’ll be fine so I guess I shouldn’t be a pessimist. I don’t know man, what are the odds they find us again so quickly? Pretty low right? Unless they got like a magic spell or something. We’ve been super careful, well except for these phone calls I guess. But, like, how could I not tell you what’s going on. I don’t know what your mission was but I’m confident it’s going well. Hopefully I’ll see you again man. Peace.

Chief inspector, I feel great! Better than ever. I want to apologize for my previous report. I may not have been in my correct mind. I feel ready to leave the hospital now but the doctor wants to verify I am ready. I know my brain is as sharp as ever. There is nothing to worry about. I will be back on the case before the days end. Elvis is as good as caught.

(A report from the desk of Police Inspector Roseline Baptiste)

Finally back out in the light. On the chase, as I walk down the street I peer down at the charm and then shine still isn't there. As I reach an intersection and wait to cross something unexpected happened. As I reached my handrest it on the nearby traffic pole I noticed a faint gold light. Looking down it realized it was coming from the charm. The carving on it had a faint pulsing glow. What could this mean? I wonder. As I begin to crash the street I notice the light dimming so quickly I snap back to the corner. The dim pulsing light returns once more. Roseline rolls a 14 on an INT check There is something to this charm. I stand at the other crosswalk waiting for a moment to cross. Finally when an opening is there I begin across the street to the opposite. The glow once again dims…modi. I hurry back to the previous corner and try going the only other direction. Finally the charm seems to glow brighter, the pulsing ever so quicker. Roseline rolls a 13 on a perception check As I stared down at the charm watching for changes I was pulled from my gaze by the loud screeching and honking of a vehicle. Upon looking back up at my surroundings I have wandered into the middle of the street. I apologize and try to show my badge but the driver shouts something I should not repeat and speeds off. I continue the pattern of testing directions at each cross walk I reach. The light is now almost blinding and flickering wildly. Roseline rolls an 8 for the next perception check As I look around I don't see anything at first but then I hear a voice…a familiar voice.

"...I don’t know man, what are the odds they find us again so quickly? Pretty low right? Unless they got like amagicl spell or something…"

I look up to a second story window, charm still manicly pulsing in my hand. I catch a glimpse of a silver haired man in on a phone staring out the window. The glow from the charm must have been more intense than I thought. For right after I spotted him, he looked back at me.
