Chapter 4: Exploring!

Chapter 4: Exploring!

*Eleina’s POV*

Vina then guided me to a dining room. Rather than eat in my own room like yesterday. It seems that I was the only one awake at the moment. Guessing with my internal clock, I’d say it was around 6 AM something.

For breakfast, I had some steak… I mean, the steak tasted great, but do they only serve steak, or something? Do they think that I ONLY like steak?

Vina: “Was there something wrong with your breakfast, my lady?” She asked with a concerned tone.

Eleina: “Oh, it was great. I was just surprised that I would be eating steak for breakfast.” I say with a small laugh.

Vina: “Ah, meat is the only main ingredient that we have at the moment.” She replied.

Eleina: “How come?” I ask with a head tilt.

Before answering, she got up close to my ear.

Vina: “Our Mistress is very good with women, but fails completely at running a country.” She said with a hushed tone.

Eleina: “Then why is she still in power?” I ask with a confused expression.

Vina: “She is very powerful. Only a vampire of similar strength can contest her. Most pure vampires have good relationships, so that won’t happen. The people can’t revolt, due to her strength.” She answered.

Eleina: “You’re not really painting her in a good light…” I say with a sigh.

Vina: “She is no tyrant. Even with their living situations not being the best, they still love her as a ruler. Her weak points are just that she is bad at running the food side of a country.” She said.

Eleina: “And what of the economy? I doubt that it would be good, considering that food is in short supply.” I ask with a thinking pose.

Vina: “It isn’t bad, but stagnated.” She replied.

Hm… do I have to fix her country for her? I do not think that I have the qualifications for that… I was just a sick girl for most of my life, after all…

Eleina: “Would she accept my recommendations on how to run her country?” I ask with a serious tone.

Vina: “That is… doubtful.” She said with a sigh.

Eleina: “And why is that?” I ask.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Vina: “I think that I might have given you the wrong impression of her. She sees her wives and lovers, and the citizens of this country, not as people.” She answered.

Eleina: “I thought that you said that she doesn’t think of us as livestock!?” I yell.

Vina: “She considers her citizens as livestock, but she sees her lovers as pets.” She said.

Pets!? Fuck… and just when I thought that my new life was going well… What the hell do I do now? It seems that she is barely even running this country… Please, I do not wish to eat steak for the rest of my new life…

Vina: “My lady, you seem to be troubled.” She said.

Eleina: “How could I not be troubled?” I say with an annoyed tone.

Vina: “Yes, she sees you as a pet, but don’t you care about the well-being of your own pets? Make her like you, and then try to talk to her about running her country. If you do it right now, she’d be upset.” She replied.

It’s understandable that she would be upset. I’d basically be a complete stranger, telling her that she doesn’t know how to run her own country…

I was not in a very good mood, so I decided to explore this estate. Vina stayed with me the entire time, so I didn’t get lost. It was a very impressive place.

So far, the garden is my favorite place. It’s very relaxing. There is even a lake in it. Must be a good spot for a picnic. Right now, I at the highest point in this estate that I have access to. Rather than an estate, this was a castle. With high walls surrounding it.

Looking over the walls from a high point of the castle, I could see many problems. There didn’t seem to be a wealthy district in this city. It looked to be slums all the way through.

The castle estate is the most luxurious. In fact, it’s the only nice part of this city. This queen has completely neglected her kingdom. This is bad… I’m going to have to suck up to her so much; otherwise, she won’t agree to completely overhaul how she runs this kingdom…

Ah… now my head hurts even more. What else do I even have to do in this place? Just eat, and look pretty? God… I hope this place has a library…

Eleina: “Does this estate have a library?” I ask with a nervous tone.

Vina: “It does. But only Mistress, and her lovers can access it.” She replied.

Are you fucking kidding me!? The library… books, my only solace in life… pay walled by love? I am NOT going to get with a woman, just so that I can read books…

At least… not yet…

Wait… let’s think this through… She sees me as a pet. And she probably sees her maids as livestock, which includes Vina. How should I even begin to appeal to her?

Maybe I should say that if her kingdom gets better, she and her “pets” will live better lives? That might be my only way to convince her…

Vina: “My lady, it is time for dinner.” She said with a bow.

Really? Dinner already? Did I really explore this estate for the entire day? Ah, time sure flies when you’re having fun, I guess.

Eleina: “Okay, but will it be steak again?” I ask with a nervous tone.

Vina: “Apologize, my lady, but it will be steak once again.” She answered.

Eleina: “Look, Vina, it’s not like I am a picky eater, so don’t give me that look.” I say with a sigh.

Vina: “I’m sorry, my lady, I do understand that eating the same thing, over and over again, is a little annoying.” She said with a giggle.

This maid is a little too cheeky, isn’t she? You would think that she’d be super professional, considering that her Mistress sees her as livestock.

Eleina: “That is true. Now, could you please lead me back to the dining room? I feel like if I tried to find it myself, I’d get lost.” I ask with a slightly embarrassed tone.

Vina: “Right away, my lady. Please follow me.” She said as she gestured to which way we should walk.

I then followed her to the dining room. Fuck… this place was far bigger than I originally thought that it was. I would super get lost if I just wandered around alone.

Dammit… I am so going to be late for dinner. It will probably take us like thirty minutes to make it to the dining room…
