Chapter 91 - Could Be Doomed

While the elder was still spinning, disoriented in the air, Gael and Zane ran quickly, disappearing from the curious eyes of the onlookers. This turn of events added to the absurdity of the situation; a gigantic whale running at a frightening speed was beyond everyone's expectations, let alone one that could hit a Core Formation Elder.

Physical cultivation provided numerous benefits, both direct and indirect. Even with their giant bodies, they had an incredible natural speed. Moreover, Zane and Gael were quite familiar with their bloodline and mastery of the laws of the earth.

In the early cultivation realms, where most still moved on their own legs close to the ground, they enjoyed a natural advantage. With a bit of Qi, the earth practically melded with them, offering no resistance to their steps, further increasing their speed.

While the elder finally fell disoriented to the ground, Zane and Gael approached a building at the far west of the Celestial Abyss City, now far from the previous location. This building was opposite where their own quarters were, marked by the array as the current location of their brother.

Naturally, that strike carried absolutely no power whatsoever. It was the System's Skill: Non-Lethal Strike Technique! It only worked when the target had its guard completely open, and Zane was very good at creating such chances. His words were said so that the elder would completely give up rationality. Too bad that other than the long comical effects, this technique couldn't even scratch their opponents. It served solely to buy them time.

Back at the building, Cultivators' rooms were designed for them to absorb Qi and train themselves peacefully, serving as places for rest and study. If a cultivator was in a meditative state and got attacked, there was a risk of experiencing a reversal, resulting in instant death. For this reason, that location had been designed to be the safest in the entire city.

Several buildings, each with dozens of rooms, were scattered throughout the city, all rigorously guarded by the elders of their respective sects. The rules in these places were strict and extremely serious for any sect. It was essential to always have a powerful elder protecting the entire place.

Although Zane and Gael couldn't defeat that foolish elder, they had no fear of causing trouble because of it. Simply returning to their rooms would temporarily render the elder unable to do anything against them.

As soon as they halted their run near the entrance of the building, Zane communicated mentally to Mira: 'We need to break into the room; he's injured and unconscious. However, with the surveillance of the elder inside this building, it'll be tough. Your mental power will be crucial.'

Mira felt the urgency in Zane's words, who continued: 'You don't have enough experience yet. I'll take all your power and use it with the array. Then, sleep peacefully.'

The array was instantly maxed out, transferring all of Mira's Qi to their meridians. Without sparing, Mira fell unconscious from exhaustion, securely leaning on their backs.

'Unfortunately, we're terrible at this, so we need to use a significant amount. Let's move quickly; we don't have time,' said Gael.

Zane focused on using their Qi to camouflage themselves and break into the building's other rooms that they were prohibited from entering. Meanwhile, Gael was entirely focused on controlling Mira's mental Qi, creating a new layer of security to deceive the senses of the elder who was watching over the place.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

They moved slowly and carefully, passing through the main door. Unlike the Divinestone clan, the cultivators in that place were experienced and skilled in Qi control. It would be foolish to think that, with several realms below the elders, they could invade without being noticed. Therefore, mental power provided an extra layer of security, especially due to their size.

It was rare to find cultivators using the power of the mind, making it unlikely that the elders had experience in this aspect. Thus, they had some security when entering and exiting, although the risk was still present.

The array proved extremely useful for them. Even without cultivating mental power, they could simply use Mira's. Although beginners with it, after a few uses, they felt their understanding gradually increasing. It was certain that the system would recognize this improvement in the future.

As they entered a bit into the building, they sensed the presence of the elder in a raised location, so they stopped and waited.

It was then that a violent Qi fluctuation was felt by them, coming from far away. Zane internally smiled, already anticipating this moment. The elder they had slapped exploded with all his power in fury, creating a commotion as he searched for them.

Soon, the elder watching over the building went on alert, startled, and focused his senses outside the building.

'Now.' Zane spoke, advancing back into the building. This was the perfect and safest opportunity, but they had to be extremely quick.

In a matter of seconds, they reached the front of Zanou's room door. A simple runic formation blocked the entrance, providing a new layer of security for the cultivators.

However, this was the world of evil cultivators, and the building belonged to a sect specializing in a Yin cultivation technique. Naturally, the runic formations were composed of Yin Qi, and who knew this type of energy better than Zane? Not even the patriarch of this sect compared to him.

It took less than two seconds for Zane, with the help of the gathering technique, to draw Qi from some key runes and open the door.

As they entered, they were met with the sight of Zanou lying on the stone bed. His clothes were completely red, with the shade coming from his own blood. There was not a spot or bone in him intact, and he was on the brink of death, unconscious.

'The elder seems skilled in torture; he beat him to the exact limit of his body. He's not at risk of death; with his cultivation, he'll recover in a few days. So, calm down, or we'll be discovered.' Zane spoke slowly to Gael.

Gael, the one with the more apparent feelings, was extremely distraught; his Qi was on the verge of exploding in rage. Of course, Zane also felt displeased, but he was a lot colder than Gael. Zane then took a deep breath, which helped Gael calm himself. Despite this young body, they were ancient and experienced. They were used to delaying the best moment for revenge. Slow torture was much more satisfying, and the time for that elder would come very soon.

They covered Zanou with earth runes to protect him and placed him on their backs next to Mira. Then, they focused, took a deep breath for a second, and left the room, not forgetting to close the formation again to avoid raising suspicions.

Everything took a few seconds, but the exit was much easier than the entrance. The elder who was watching was no longer on alert due to the disturbance in the city. However, at the same time, since they were leaving a room, they didn't need to completely conceal their presence. Using mental Qi to pretend to be someone leaving normally was sufficient. Since the elder wasn't looking directly at them and couldn't imagine that someone had entered outside of his senses, the giant whale entered and exited unnoticed by him.

Once outside, they fully activated their Qi and waited a bit. It didn't take long for a frenzied aura to focus entirely on them. The furious elder ran with all his might in pursuit.

Zane and Gael smiled, and after a second, their eyes changed to a brown, earthy color. When the elder was very close, they fled at a speed twice as fast as before in the opposite direction, reaching the building where their room was in a matter of seconds. They only heard the enraged shouts from a distance.

As they entered the room, Gael commented, "I would love to see his expression right now."

Zane grumbled, "I would love to see his blood dripping on the floor right now."

Gael then looked at his brother. He was still angry about it. However, Gael knew it wasn't the time. "The elder is just an old geezer with an unstable and fragile cultivation. He probably reached the Core Formation stage with external help and won't be able to advance further. Soon, we can deal with our grievances. Let's wait for the opportunity."

Gael then took control of the body. He placed Mira on the bed, and their brother was positioned in the corner of the room, completely sealed by earth runes.

Gael assessed his internal condition, planning to infuse some Qi into his meridians to ensure a complete recovery.

However, suddenly, Zane sensed Gael's soul emanating a bloodthirsty will as intense as his own, and Gael's mental words echoed.

'Physically, he's fine... but internally, there are many wounds. And they're not recent...' He paused, trying to control himself. 'It seems the elder didn't beat him only as punishment. He was also slowly draining his life force... if we hadn't discovered this quickly, our brother would be doomed.'
