Half of the test time had passed. At this point, Zane, Gael, and Mira were no longer walking stealthily; there was no point in it.
Zane and Gael's fists were dripping with blood, and even Mira, who had already put on a new set of clothes, was completely red from the blood of other cultivators. In just ten minutes of the test, they had already killed a dozen of them.
'Damn. This ridiculous whale, we can't even act in the shadows here,' Zane grumbled as they threw a spear they had stolen forward. Right after, the sound of something being pierced reverberated in the distance.
That dead cultivator had accumulated a large amount of these laws. He killed some beasts, but surely most of his gains came from many other murdered competitors. Zane and Gael stood still for two seconds, and several runes of infernal laws converged in their direction.
This infernal law can disturb a person's mind and incite their deep evil desires. Unexplainable desires and pleasure that would dominate weak minds. Everyone felt like venting these feelings and attacking like a beast—That made others want blood, want to kill, want to indulge and ravage beauties. Well, In Zane and Gael's case, it only lasted a second, then was quickly dispersed.
"These induced feelings are really powerful and at the same time disturbing," Gael commented.
Zane then, sensing Mira's excitement on his shoulder, spoke. "Control your emotions. Don't let the infernal laws guide your mind." That caused the girl to calm down, satisfying Zane and Gael before Zane continued to talk. "This place was specially created for these malicious cultivators to train. It's easy to understand why so many die here and hesitate to come."
"Malicious cultivators are constantly bathed in the blood and energy of the innocent's death. They possess a natural malicious potential in their bodies, allowing them to fight even when suppressed. Their bodies are naturally tough due to the energy of death; this place was perfect for them to train."
Mira nodded in understanding, then turned, sensing something. The mist shifted, and a malicious countenance emerged.
Zane and Gael had already turned in that direction even before Mira as they had sensed that approach. However, that cultivator wasn't someone they could kill as easily as the others. As he was approaching without even trying to hide, they decided to wait and see.
When he was five meters away, they could see his face well. He was a man with a red and bloodthirsty gaze and a pair of protruding horns on his forehead. He definitely wasn't entirely human, but it seemed that his bloodline wasn't as strong. Zane and Gael weren't entirely human either, but they were still considered as such.
The man then spoke with a dry voice. "Hey, fatty, I want that girl for myself." His words were then imbued with a dense and disturbing Qi of death. "If you refuse, you know what's going to happen, right?"
Zane and Gael looked at him as if he were an idiot. They recognized this cultivator; he was the one who had noticed Mira outside. And now he seemed to know what her origins were.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
"You want her? Sure, she's all yours. She was just a furnace we brought for our use anyway." Zane said, pretending to want to avoid trouble with the horned guy.
They then felt a slight tremor coming from their shoulder as Mira tightly squeezed. Zane then glanced sideways at Mira and winked at her, making sure the other guy didn't see it. Seeing the look, Mira seemed to understand something.
She was then placed on the ground and walked slowly toward the cultivator. The man exuded a sinister aura. Upon realizing the little girl's look of terror and fear, a macabre smile appeared on his face. He intensely enjoyed that expression before killing and violating.
Tears streamed down the girl's face as he took a step closer, and his excitement only grew. Without noticing, his guard dropped down. Finally, his hand reached out in an attempt to grab the girl.
However, only the sound of flesh being cut echoed. Blood began to gush upward like a waterfall, and a body fell backward. His head followed suit, making a distinct sound.
"That idiot was completely enchanted by her. Well done, hahahahahahaha." Zane couldn't control his typical cliché villain laugh.
Mira was expressionless, holding a bloodied dagger in her hands. Her dexterity was impressive, swift, and deadly, leaving no chance for escape. Shortly after, she simply turned and looked at her master, and an even brighter smile blossomed.
Gael then sighed. "Damn... she got infected by you, idiot. Look at that malicious and satisfied look after taking a life."
Zane seemed even more pleased with this comment. "Better this way. I don't want dead weight to protect."
'Well, at least her killing intentions are being directed in the right direction. I don't need to worry about her going after innocent people,' Gael thought to himself.
In the next second, an avalanche of infernal runes converged on them.
After two seconds, their senses returned. Then, the totem that was previously well-hidden among their clothes seemed to pulsate with power. "What the hell? The totem is accumulating a frightening amount of these laws. How many did that guy kill before he appeared here? If we go underground, can we hide?" Gael commented incredulously.
"Despite the limited senses, I already feel the approach of several auras. We had to kill to have the minimum laws to pass. Since we attracted so much attention, we were destined to become a target. Even if we hide now, others will sense the large amount of laws accumulated in our totem." Zane responded, sighing; the plan to be discreet seemed to have gone down the drain.
They stroked Mira's hair, and she seemed quite pleased with herself, becoming even more radiant. They put her back on their shoulders. Then, they started walking in a specific direction.
There were about twenty minutes left until the end of the test. Suddenly, they saw up close a presence of five meters, completely formed by pulsating scarlet runes, emanating a frenzied and bloodthirsty power.
"So, this is the infernal beast. That's the first time we see one," Gael commented.
Zane and Gael were just about to act when Mira suddenly commented. "I wonder if the cultivators who attacked us before thought Master to be human or one of these beasts when they first noticed us in the distance... Hum... most likely the latter."
*Bang!*
Gael and Zane tripped and fell with their face on the ground. Such was the weight of that comment. 'I'm telling you, Zane, this girl is definitely asking for a beating!'
It was a rare moment that Zane agreed unconditionally with Gael. 'We can't think about a proper retribution later.'
They quickly got up as the beast was already coming for them.
ROOOAR!!!
The roar didn't make the mist disperse, though. Instead, it acted inversely, moving toward the beast and accumulating even more on it, making the space vibrate intensely.
Zane then spoke in admiration, "It's truly something unique and powerful."
Both quickly grasped the nature of the Infernal Beasts. They were creatures of various shapes and sizes, devoid of a complete physical body, formed only by the most primitive intent of Infernal Laws.
Within this prison, these creatures came to life and could only exist there, resembling demonic sea beasts within the ocean. They possessed immense power and could easily replenish their energies or hide in this environment, merging with the laws.
The malevolent cultivators remained suppressed, relying only on their bodies to fight, explaining the reason for so many deaths. Although they were only in the first prison, deeper within were Infernal Beasts of higher levels, along with other unknown dangers.
"This place must contain many hidden secrets. We should return as soon as we can and explore everything," Gael concluded.
It was at that moment that a scarlet claw, formed by runes, descended upon them. They quickly jumped and dodged. Still, a large trench in the earth was created due to the beast's power. They quickly realized that the beast was a lot deadlier than they thought.
