Chapter 69 – God

Chapter 69 – God

The scene became increasingly strange and bizarre with each passing second. The robots' rituals involved elaborate dances with coordinated mechanical movements, chants in metallic tones, and occasionally, the tossing of screws into the air as an offering.

Zane and Gael couldn't even laugh anymore. The black tower was considered sacred because it was the place from which, supposedly, new robots were born inexplicably to them.

Until, after a while, Gael noticed something belatedly. "Look! All the new robots are standing strangely."

Zane turned his gaze, observing with curiosity. There were about twelve new robots with different shapes and sizes; most of them had humanoid forms. But two were different among them: the granted janitor robots. Aside from these, all wielded cutting and piercing weapons, ready for battle.

"Hmm... it seems like the three heroes maintaining the barrier expected the robots to gradually destroy the demon army. But they had no idea how long it would take," analyzed Zane.

Gael agreed and added, "There's no one from the demon army inside here. From the confusion of these new robots, the heroes don't know that the robots had already gotten the job done a long time ago."

Zane then had an idea, sinisterly excited. "Great, this is our opportunity. They must not be aware of the world inside the force field. Since the castle belonged to the demon king, they must be trapped or something."

"Now we know where the thinnest part of this barrier is, thanks to the entry of these new robots. We just need more power to penetrate there... let's absorb the soul gems of these robots."

Zane spoke casually, expecting Gael's immediate denial. But to his surprise, Gael didn't respond immediately, remaining silent and contemplating deeply. He watched those new robots closely and noticed something strange.

"They're kind of inert, aren't they?" Gael spoke, expressing doubt and seeking Zane's opinion. Both analyzed the situation for a while.

Gael recalled that within the robotic body, there were various automatic mechanisms, but most needed consciousness to move them. It soon became clear that something influenced the robots to act as they did. Obviously, coming from Earth, they had knowledge that had never before proven useful; they understood that the creators of these robots had placed programming and tasks for them.

Even by observing these twelve new robots, one could sense synergy among them. Five were dense and large, designed for close combat. Another five were light, focused on speed. And the other two were janitors... probably meant for cleaning up the Qi of the dead.

"As they arrive in this empty place, they don't know why or how, or what they should be doing," Gael whispered, but something still seemed off.

"These new robots don't have consciousness yet," Zane confidently stated. "The creators must be using not fully developed gems to create them. Probably, after a few centuries, these newcomers will develop consciousness. That's why, as mere programming, they don't know what to do in this place and just stand there."

Gael then turned to the distant sea of robots and noticed that none of them were approaching the newcomers. "This seems to be normal for them. Since they don't even try to approach, it might even be dangerous for a while."

"Well... that's great. They're not technically alive yet; let's steal the Qi from their soul gems," Gael concluded, finally starting to move.

They descended calmly to a significant distance on the opposite side of the city, with the newcomers at the center. Then, the various metallic limbs moved on the ground smoothly like a giant robot spider. When they were very close, a subtle fluctuation from the motionless robots was felt, confirming the theory.

Their programming was to attack and kill anything nearby. Initially, even if a robot approached, they attacked first and checked later. That's why the city robots kept their distance. Over time, the soul gems would create consciousness that would override the programming, and they could behave less violently.

Soon, all the Qi available in the soul gems of Zane and Gael was pushed to the limit. The laws and Qi of this universe were very scarce and incomplete. So, they felt like they were in a fragile and simple place. They were specialized in disguising and hiding, and in this place, it was an extremely easy task to merge with the elements around them. They felt that their stealth level had reached a divine level in this universe, being much more effective.

"It seems like the system sent us to a world where our natural abilities are very useful and effective," Gael said, impressed. "Thinking about it, the other quest was in a world surrounded by the Qi of death. It was also something very familiar and simple for both of us to use."

Zane spat sharply. "A grotesque and stealthy robot chimera, this sounds more and more ridiculous to me. I'd rather be a wicked and assassin skeleton."

"Yes! We were a Sacred Skeleton!!!" Gael didn't forget his honorary title.

Zane cursed a bit, but they still moved easily like a shadow and reached a few meters from the robots, hiding behind a large rock.

After a few focused seconds, the robot slowly emerged its legs from the ground. "Let's test. In theory, it should work," Zane said.

Seconds passed since all the legs were completely immersed in the soil. Suddenly, the air began to change subtly, becoming intensely cold. Although the nearby robots didn't have many thermal sensors, they sensed the change in the Qi of the environment.

Suddenly, a wave of heat ran through the robot's metal shells, instantly activating all their combat programming.

The two streams then mixed and physically condensed. All the robots turned towards a giant rock, raising their weapons as they saw two dense and extremely mystical auras illuminate the entire environment.

All the Yin and Yang laws of the universe seemed to converge on that place, abruptly transforming the sky of the planet into a fusion of black and white colors. All the robots in their cult suddenly stopped, surprised and frightened by the unexpected change.

"What the hell... this gem is on a much higher level than we thought," Gael commented, alarmed.

After analyzing the soul gem and realizing that it had capabilities similar to the 'Yin and Yang Supreme Qi Collector' technique, it wasn't hard to imagine that they could use it to collect Qi directly, faster and more efficiently.

They didn't have the tattoos and couldn't create them in this robotic body. But they received the technique directly into their souls from the system. They possessed a level of detail and knowledge about the technique that could easily be mistaken for that of the original creator.

So, they artificially merged their souls into the gem, attempting to replace the tattoo. In the end, it was much easier and more powerful than they expected. The gem merged perfectly with the Yin and Yang power of their souls; not only that, but the power level exceeded by hundreds of times the capacity they expected.

First, the entire planet resonated with the call they created. Then, all the stars within the force field, and finally, the entire cosmos seemed to tremble and be drawn. Frightening phenomena illuminated the small enclosed world in vibrant colors, and a vortex funneled into a single point.

Inside the millions of atonic robots observing the phenomena, they quickly realized that everything was focusing on that place very close to them and, at the same time, close to the black tower. Then, trembling robotic voices echoed.

"Oh... god... he's coming! He's finally descending to guide us!" Quickly, everyone trembled, and more and more hysterical voices reverberated.

"THE CELESTIAL ROBOT GOD HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!!!!!"

Chaos ensued among the robots, now in a frenzy of worship and excitement.
