Chapter 9 – Lightning Strikes (4)

Chapter 9 – Lightning Strikes (4)

“Descend, ‘Calamity Sword’” An ice-cold voice resounded through the place.

Powerful sword intent wrapped the greatsword on the woman’s hands, pressuring the space in the surroundings and making the enemies in the surroundings to have difficulty to breathe.

“Damn it! What kind of monster is she!?” With an expression of terror, the shortsword-wielding man grabbed his disciple’s arm before retreating quickly.

However, it was too late to retreat from the woman’s attack range. Before he could run far, the woman’s sword was swung.

Instantly, a destructive storm of energy filled the place. The surroundings were filled with sword energy and everything around was completely destroyed.

It took nearly one minute before the effects of the attack subsided. The surroundings were completely destroyed, and a crater more than a hundred meters of diameter appeared in the place where the sword impacted.

“I’m unable to control it yet.” The ice-cold voice of the woman sounded. “That is the reason because you are not dead yet.”

From the clouds of dust, four figures appeared; two belonging to orcs and two belonging to humans. None of them was dead, but injuries of every size could be seen in their bodies. One of the orcs had its left arm destroyed, apparently because he received the brunt of the attack in a try to protect its team.

“… You… How can you be so strong!?” The shortsword-wielding man asked, but the woman simply ignored him. For a few seconds, none of them said anything, and only the frightened deep breaths of the weaker level three human could be heard.

“Will, leave this place. Go get the flag.” The shortsword-wielding man said softly to his disciple.

“B-But teacher, the woman–”

“Don’t worry, I will distract her long enough for you to go. If you continue being here, you will end dead before long.”

“... I understand, master.”

“Orcs, help me to keep the woman busy. I don’t think she is strong enough to take three level five for herself.”

“Very well, human. We will help you.” The hammer-wielding orc, whose arm had been injured, answered with a growl. Apparently, even a warmonger orc could understand that it was impossible to take the woman in a one to one.

“Now, go!”

Immediately, the level three human ran towards the way that Aleen took.

“I will not let you!” The woman shouted before attacking with her sword, but one of the orcs used its axe to block the attack. The woman increased the output of her ‘Sword Body’, throwing the orc away; but when she tried to chase after the disciple again, she was blocked by the two other enemies.

“I’m sorry, but I cannot allow you to go after my disciple.” The human said after blocking one of the woman’s attacks.

“Do you think that you can stop me?” She asked coldly.

“To be honest, I’m not confident about being your match. Unfortunately for you, I’m not alone here.”

“Bah!” She sneered. “You will need more than it to kill me!”

“Is it so? I think that we are more than enough. After all, though you are strong, I don’t think you can use that skill repeatedly. Maybe it’s different in the main dimensions, but in this dimensional paradise, the suppression over our mana makes it hard for the strongest skills to be used continuously, am I wrong?” The man said with a smile.

Furrowing her brows, she didn’t deny it. Instead, she simply grabbed her greatsword with all her strength; then, unleashing the ‘Sword Body’, ‘Sword Killing’ and ‘Sword Domain’ skills, she charged bravely to fight the enemy team.

Immediately, another battle ensued.

For an instant, Aleen felt every cell inside his body moving, working together to accomplish a goal. It was a strange sensation, but at the same time, it was something pleasant. Aleen never felt anything so pleasant before. It was as if his entire body entered a state of relaxation.

His body reacted for itself. The instincts of survival engraved deep in his genes generated the most appropriated answer against the dangerous situation he was facing.

Then, lightning filled his veins, and the world slowed around him. Taking a step forward, his body accelerated at impossible speeds, then, his spear pierced the monster.

Aleen did not know about it, but his current state was the most common method of strengthening known through the multiple dimensions; a process that is known as ‘Enlightenment’.

It was a state that allowed him to witness the most fundamental truths about the universe. The source of any ability or skill.

Because of it, Aleen was able to connect to the universe’s laws, learning from it his first skill and allowing to his body to move at super high speeds.

Aleen panted heavily with his body resting against the body of the beast. Though he was able to kill the animal, his situation was far from good. His body was filled with injuries, and once the effects of the enlightenment were gone, the pain in his body multiplied many times.

Releasing the spear, Aleen body fell to the ground, too exhausted to move and with his vision blurry due to the blood loss. Fortunately, the moment of enlightenment stopped the blood loss from the injury on his waist; otherwise, his body would have rested together with the beast's.

Taking a deep breath, Aleen forced his body to move.

Around a minute later, he was able to stand again. Grabbing the spear, he walked towards the place where the flag fell.

But when he was going to grab it, he saw a shoe appearing above the flag.

A human was standing before him, using a foot to step over it.

Surprised, Aleen jumped backward trying to distance himself from the enemy. But before he could retreat, he felt a strong pain impacting his abdomen.

“Gah!”

His body flew backward at high speeds, hitting the walls of a building and causing him even more pain. The pain was so strong that his consciousness disappeared for a second.

When his mind finally got a bit of clarity, he heard the voice of his attacker.

“As expected from a level one, to suffer such injuries facing such weak beast.”

Looking towards the origin of the voice, Aleen saw a black-dressed man wielding two daggers in his hands.
