Chapter 13 – Flag Finale (3)

Chapter 13 – Flag Finale (3)

Aleen could felt the shockwaves from the battle a kilometer away. The clash of swords and the sound of explosions painted a scene of destruction in his mind.

Following the woman’s words, Aleen tried to distance himself from the place of the fight before making his way to the base. Knowing that both of their lives were at risk, he tried to move as fast as possible.

Aleen considered using his skill to move faster, but in the end, he decided against it. He didn’t know what kind of danger he would find before reaching the base. Besides, he probably could only use his skill safely once more. Beyond it, even if he was able to use the skill again, it probably would cause damage to his body.

When he asked the woman about it, she answered that his body was not used to use mana so aggressively. Because of it, he will be unable to use the skill freely before his body is adapted to the increase of level.

And even after it, the usage of his skill probably would be limited.

After a few minutes, Aleen finally came to the surroundings of the base. Fortunately, he could still hear the sound of battle, so he knew that the woman was alive yet.

But before he could sigh in relief, the scene before his eyes eliminated any happiness he could have had.

Tens of bodies were lying grotesquely around the base. A bloody scene of bodies, heads, and limbs lying in the ground appeared before Aleen.

A strong feeling of nausea and fear filled him.

He recognized them. They were the people that appeared in this place with him. The man with a business suit, the schoolgirl, the punk, the Japanese girl; many of them left an impression in Aleen.

But that was not the most frightening thing.

The most terrifying part of the scene was the group of monsters eating the human bodies savagely.

Aleen saw many beasts like the ones that almost killed him twice. Tens of them, some so big that others seemed children compared to them.

They were using their claws and jaws to feast on the bodies, taking chunks of flesh with every bite and drinking human blood happily.

Aleen suppressed the instinctive scream that almost left his mouth, but it was useless. Some monsters had noticed his movement.

*ROAR!!!*

A beast roared.

Immediately, the group of beasts raised their heads, looking towards the place where Aleen was together.

The pressure of tens of monster looking to him suffocated Aleen, and he had to concentrate to stop his body from shaking.

Then, after a few seconds of silence, the first beast took a step forward.

Then, the second beast moved.

An instant later, the entire group of beasts ran towards Aleen.

Aleen took instinctively a step backward. Then, when the beasts began to run toward him, he turned and ran away quickly.

The mana inside his body circulated quickly, sending energy to his legs and accelerating his movement, but the beasts were even faster.

With their savagery ignited by the bloody smell, the beasts used their legs to step in the walls, roofs, trees or any other thing in the surroundings, using it at their advantage to gain ground. Before long, the first beast was at striking distance.

Aleen did his best and evaded the first attack, but the beasts continued attacking. With their instincts as predators, they chose the best moment to pounce, disturbing Aleen’s steps and forcing him to evade constantly. Before long, the pack of beasts began to surround him.

Desperation began to fill his mind, and his breathing became erratic. The wounds from before combined with the new injuries began to sap his strength. His struggle only served to ignite the beasts' desire for flesh blood.

Finally, a beast lost its patience and attacked Aleen with the intent to kill him.

Gritting his teeth, Aleen used the flag as a bat and hit the beast’s mouth, throwing it away. But because of it, his body had not more option but stop. Immediately, more beasts began to pounce towards his body.

Aleen used the spear on his other hand to block some attacks, but he was not fast enough to block everything. One of the beasts used its claw to hit his back, destroying his balance. Then, another beast attacked using that opportunity.

The beast’s jaws appeared before his eyes and the fetid smell of blood impacted his face. But before the beast could kill him, Aleen’s eyes flashed.

Immediately, lightning coursed through his body, and the movements in the surroundings seemed to stop.

Aleen willed his body to move, and time resumed its march. His body accelerated powerfully, and the lance in his hand cut through the beasts before him. In a second, Aleen ran a distance of fifty meters, leaving the beasts’ encirclement behind. Then, he continued to run.

That was virtually his last use of his skill.

Though he could force his body to use it again, he would be unable to move after it. Even now, a strong feeling of fatigue filled his muscles.

Aleen continued running. But though he did not look back, he could hear the sound of the beast coming after him. His skill at most bought a few seconds of time. Before long, the situation from before was going to repeat.

I have to think about something. A method to escape from the current crisis. It was useless to hope for someone saving him again. Aleen was certain that life and death hanged in his own shoulders.

Then, his sight moved at the flag in his left hand.

The woman said that the game would end when a team's flag reaches to the enemy base.

The question is, how long after it?

Looking to the flag again, Aleen took a mouthful of air, then, he made his mind.

“Lady luck, if you exist, please bless me.”

Hearing the roars of the beasts behind him, Aleen changed his direction.

Searching for an opportunity to survive.
