Chapter 77 – The Girl Under the Rain (1)

At the next day, Aleen finished his training and wiped his sweat using a towel.

Despite only having trained during a few days, his improvement was obvious; mainly in his swordsmanship and the ‘Sharp Blade’ technique, which he improved to thirty vibrations each second.

His skill, on the other hand, didn’t show much improvement. It was because even if he changes the direction of the skill midway, the courtyard continued being too small to practice in it.

Besides, he had to be careful of not making a big commotion and alerting his neighbors, so Aleen ended using most of the time meditating or practicing with the sword.

Aleen made his mind to find a place to practice his skill freely soon.

With a sigh, he thought about the only improvement that his skill saw in the last few days; he called it ‘Dynamic Sight’.

Following D’vina advise, he tried only to accelerate his thoughts without accelerating his body, and after a few days of tries, he achieved a bit of success.

He could only keep this state for ten seconds, but he only needed rest for ten seconds to use it again. Besides, he could activate and deactivate it at will, making it even more useful.

The only trouble was that it shared the cooldown of ‘Lightning Acceleration’, so he had to be careful when using it, to not find himself in a state where he could not use his skill when it was necessary.

On the other hand, the cooldown of his skill reduced, to 17 seconds. He wasn’t sure if it was thanks to the body-enhancement drug or the meditation he has done lately, but Aleen was happy with the progress.

Honestly, he felt way stronger than in the last game.

At least, it gave him a bit of confidence to face the incoming game.

Aleen sighed briefly and looked up. The afternoon sky was very cloudy, so he wondered if it was going to rain tonight.

Shaking his head, he returned his sword to the ring and entered back to the house.

Claire was making dinner, so Aleen didn’t interrupt her and went to take a bath directly.

After taking a quick bath, he wore fresh clothes and sat in the living room. Seeing that Claire was still making dinner, he turned on the bracelet in his wrist and used it to browse the internet.

Not long later, he noticed a particular article that was trending.

Aleen immediately frowned when he read the title.

‘More about the recent incidents around the world.’

This content has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

It was from the same author than the article Claire showed him days ago,

Clicking it, Aleen found that it had way more information than before, including some things that even he didn’t know.

For example, it spoke about an island belonging to the Norway Kingdom being surrounded by aircraft carriers of different countries without any explanation, he also said that some people claimed that ‘Dimensional Paradise’ was an interdimensional version of the Roman Coliseum; there were also news about more animals' attacks, and even what happened a day ago near Westfield Shopping Mall.

Aleen was surprised, not only because the writer of this article was able to get so much information, but also because his webpage was still on the internet despite all the things he had revealed.

And though most readers took the article as a bunch of conspiracy theories, there also were some that commented confirming some of the things in it.

‘Something is strange, if the government wants to make the situation public, they won’t do it this way, and if they won't keep it secret, why didn’t they close the page?’

‘Or perhaps, they want to close it but they can’t’

Aleen could not find the answer don't matter how long he thought about it.

At that moment, Claire brought the dishes and put them on the dining table.

“Brother, it’s ready!”

“Finally, I was starving!”

“Haha, but I assure you that the wait was worth it!”

“Of course, after all, you made it.”

Claire blushed slightly hearing her brother’s commentary.

At that moment, sounds of pitter-patter came from the roof.

“It’s raining, huh…” Aleen mumbled softly.

Claire nodded softly and sat in the table. Aleen sat after her.

But when he was going to start eating, Claire stood up abruptly with a panicked expression.

“Oh no! I left my clothes outside!”

And before Aleen could say anything, she ran towards the courtyard.

Aleen smiled wryly and started eating. He thought about waiting for Claire, but the training left him too hungry to wait anymore.

Aleen was sure that Claire would forgive him with just a slight pout.

But when she came back, it was different than he thought.

Instead of scolding Aleen for starting without her, she had a nervous expression.

“Brother, there is someone outside.”

Aleen frowned immediately. “Is someone bothering us with this climate?”

Claire shook her head. “No, I think that person is using our roof to avoid the rain.”

“Do you recognize him?”

Claire shook her head.

Aleen fell in thoughts but at the end decided to take a look. Though he didn’t mind allowing someone to use his roof to take refuge from the rain, he at least had to confirm that the one taking refuge wasn’t suspicious.

Aleen walked to a window together with Claire and opened the curtain to take a look outside.

Immediately, he saw the refugee.

The rain was strong, and the strong winds make it hard to see anything more than that person’s figure.

However, Aleen’s enhanced vision allowed him to identify her.

The silver hair, drenched clothes, and petite body were easy to identify after all.

“… The girl from the shopping mall.”

Claire made a surprised expression when she heard her brother’s words. “Uh? What girl?”

“The one that saved you.” Aleen said hesitantly. “I’m sure it’s her, she is even carrying her cat.”

Claire’s expression froze when she heard it.

Taking a look, she confirmed that the figure resembled the girl from back then.

Beautiful and strong, and at the same time, slightly desolate.

Though she wasn’t completely sure if it was the same girl, Claire didn’t doubt her brother judgment.

For a moment, none of them said anything.

Claire bit her lips with a struggling expression, and before long, she moved her gaze towards Aleen.

“… Brother, can we help her?”

Aleen took a few seconds to answer. “Are you sure about it?”

“Only tonight, please…”

Aleen didn’t speak for a few seconds, but before long, he sighed.

“You know that the game begins tomorrow at dawn, right?”

Claire only looked towards Aleen with a pleading expression.

Finally, Aleen raised his hands signaling that he gave up.

“Okay, it’s your choice.”
