12: The Artist (1)

"So this is what Guild looks like?" Ky says while looking around, "I can't say impressed."

"Ho? And why is that?" Salena, not even looking back at Ky, the latter of whom is still wearing his dirty cloth from the Dungeon while also having his ribs exposed.

The man looked at her briefly before saying, "Well, it looks much like a typical business building for me, no originality whatsoever."

"While I agree with you there-" Salena says, "We hold function over appearance. After all, we are not a celebrity type Guild."

The moment they entered the Guild, Goro had split off from them to go who knows where; as for Ky and Salena, they are both heading toward the infirmary right now to get Ky's wound treated, even though the man himself says he doesn't need any help, which clearly eyes due to his exposed ribs.

"And here we are," Salena says before opening the door and entering the room, followed by Ky before he closes the door.

It looks like a typical infirmary room that can be found anywhere, with only one person typing away on her laptop. The woman stops typing before turning her head and looking at Salena and Ky. She is wearing what seems to be a typical head nurse outfit with a long white coat and bob-cut black hair accompanied by a pair of glasses on her face.

"Salena," The woman greets before looking at Ky, who is also looking back at her before her eyes turn toward Ky's exposed ribs. "And who's he?"

"His name is Ky Kurenai; he might be or might not be our new member," Salena says before gesturing toward his exposed ribs, "And as you can see, he needs medical attention. While I know, I can wait for natural healing, that would take too long. That's why I want you to heal him, Mei."

"Hm~" The woman, Mei, hummed before looking at Ky out of nowhere, licking her lips, sending a chill along Ky's spine, "I wouldn't mind healing him..."

"That's good to hear," Salena says before stepping out of the room; before she closes the door, she says something to Ky that makes him even more worried, "Good luck."

Closing the door, Ky turns toward Mei, who had stood up from her seat, and slowly approaches Ky, who unconsciously steps back before his back hits the wall. The woman stands near Ky before moving her head and closing the distance between them.

"Uh... What are you...?" Ky asks instinctively.

"Hm, you smelled nice~," Mei says after taking a sniff near Ky's body, immediately causing Ky's body to shake in the chill.

"That's it, woman!" Ky says while pushing Mei away, "What the fuck is wrong with you? Just heal me and get this over with already!! Don't need to act all weird like this!"

"Ah~ You're no fun." As Mei says this, she steps away before her eyes move up and down, analysing Ky's injuries before blinking a few times, "I'm surprised you're still standing. Numerous cuts, a lot of bruising on your torso, and not to mention your exposed ribs, any normal Sorcerer would already lose consciousness by now. But you... You are still standing, talking and walking normally as if nothing is wrong with your body. Very impressive."

"Yes, yes, it's all very impressive." Ky says while rolling his eyes, "Can you heal me already? I want to get this done as fast as possible."

"People, these days, have no patient at all," Mei says while shaking her head, "Sit down, so I can get this treatment done quickly."

Ky nods, and without even questioning her, Ky sits on one of the chairs while Mei sits on the opposite side of Ky.

"First, tell me your name."

Ky raised an eyebrow at that; even though she already knew his name, she still asked him, but he would not question it, "Ky Kurenai."

"Who cause the injuries?"

Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings.

"A monster inside the Dungeon."

"Normal or boss?"

"Boss."

"Boss, huh? Impressive." Mei says, "Last question, will you allow me to heal you?"

"Yeah?" Ky answers, still quite confused with all the questions that Mei asked him

"Very well." Extending her arm, Mei places one of her hands on Ky's body, and at that moment, Ky starts to feel something foreign enter his body. Visible to his eyes, he can see and feel his injuries closing while seeing his ribs regrow before the wound close entirely. Before he knows it, Ky is now fully healed.

"Don't let your guard down yet." Mei suddenly says, causing Ky to look at her.

However, in doing so, a sudden pain flashes throughout his entire body like a lightning strike, and Ky immediately recognise that this is all the same pain that he felt from fighting the boss, the pain of being cut, hit and stabbed. As fast as the pain comes, it also disappears as fast. Still, it's two times worse this time than the one he felt before.

Letting out a breath that he doesn't know he is holding, Ky's breathing is erratic before quickly calming down. He then glares at Mei, who has a smirk on her face.

"You think healing people and regrowing bones is that easy?" Mei says, "There are potions out there that can certainly do that, even regrowing limbs, but the materials, crafting process and cost are through the roof. So you should be glad that you have someone like me."

"So? That still doesn't explain the pains or all the questions you asked me!"

"As I said, healing people are not easy. Healing-type Augurium doesn't come like rain, not only because it requires a lot of mana but also stringent conditions to fulfil." Mei explains before returning to her laptop, "But I admit, your pain tolerance is quite impressive. Despite all that pain, you are still conscious; you don't even make any noises. Most people would be on the ground screaming by now."

"I guess I'm just that good," Ky says

"Whatever you say..." Mei says, "Now leave; I don't want to keep Salena waiting."

"Ok", Ky says while rolling his eyes, seeing Mei's attitude, "Thank you for the healing."

Being the good person he is, he thanks Mei for the healing. After all, he knows that being a support or healer is not easy in both game and real life. So, as a rule of thumb, he must always say thanks to the healer.

{A/N: I did not choose the support life; the support life chose me.}

So making his way out of the room, Ky saw Salena standing outside waiting for him, and when she heard the door open, she turned to face him with a little surprise behind her eyes.

"Oh, my~" Salena says, "Done already, here; I thought I would hear you scream in pain. How disappointing."

"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" Ky asks after hearing Salena's last statement

Salena smiles before walking away but not before turning her head toward Ky, "Follow me; with your healing done, we will meet with our Guild leader and continue to talk about our deal."

"So that's the report." Goro says, "What do you think about it, leader?"

Current;y standing in a room in front of a man sitting behind a desk, Goro had just finished reporting the situation about what had just happened while they were on patrol. Of course, he had told the man everything about what happened in the Dungeon, including what he knew about Ky Kurenai.

"Ky Kurenai..." The man behind the desk says he has short red hair wearing glasses, accompanied by him wearing a traditional black suit, "Quite a man he is; what do you think about him, Goro, your personal opinion."

"My opinion..." Goro mutters, "He's arrogant; without a doubt, a person like him would never accept help from anyone unless it benefits somehow. But there is one thing I cannot deny:e is incredibly talented. If I have to rate him on how talented he is out of ten, the scale would be twenty out of ten."

"That much, huh?" The Guild leader says, "But I guess that makes sense for someone like him."

"Someone like him...?" Goro says, "Do you know him, sir?"

"No, I don't." The man quickly denies it, "When you tell me his name, I look at the database of Sorcerer of who he is, and to my surprised, he had been Sorcerer for not a very long time."

"Really?" Goro asks, "Then how long had he been a Sorcerer?"

"That's the best part. He had been a Sorcerer for four hours." The man answers, and before Goro can say anything, the man continues, "Of course, I have my doubt about it, considering how impossible it sounds. You probably think he was illegally going into a Dungeon without a license when he awakened his mana vein. Still, to my surprise, according to what it’s said here, he had just awoken his mana vein today from an accident.

So, in conclusion, Ky Kurenai only has experience as Sorcerer… No, as a mana user, he already surpasses moss Sorcerer for less than 24 hours out there.”

“That…” Goro says

“Impossible?” The man says with a smile, “I guess it was. But we can discuss this later when the man of the hour is here.”

As he finished, the man looked at his monitor, seeing that Salena and Ky are coming to his office, where he could discuss the matter after they arrived.
