As Ky stares at the image in front of him, Ky cannot help but feel amused by the picture. After leaving the Sorcerer Association building, he is currently at a random part of the city, sitting alone on a wooden bench, reading the book that Colt gave him.
"What an interesting design," Ky said to himself.
As Ky continues to read the book, the first thing he learns is mana; in which there are pages after pages explaining what mana is and how much work, but for Ky to summarise it up, it would be.
|All living things have mana inside them; they can learn and practice to better understand mana to create Augurium. To use mana, they must awaken their mana vein first, then learn and master it; however, they will generate it faster if they feel strong emotions. The best type of emotion to generate mana is negative emotions.
Everyone can use mana naturally to enhance their physical attribute, strength, speed and defence. Everyone can "discharge" their mana and shoot it as pure or fuel objects with it.|
'Negative emotions, huh?' Ky thought, "That might be a problem."
For someone like Ky, who rarely feels emotions, this will undoubtedly become a problem for Ky. Not only is it hard for Ky to feel positive emotions, but asking him to also feels negative emotions? That near impossible to do so.
"No, I should worry about later." Shaking his head, Ky continues to read the book and tries his best to summarise it.
| Everyone can perform primary/basic techniques: Difundir, Enforcar, Buscar and Ocultar.
Buscar: By spreading your mana in the area. The user can feel the shape and movement of anything in the area covered by their mana. The degree of awareness, radius and finesse depends on their skill level. The minimum requirement is to extend one's mana to a radius of more than two meters. Alternatively, this technique can be imbued with negative emotion to spread killing intent, stopping people with weaker will and Difundir from moving.
Ocultar: Concealing your mana, hiding them completely, making you "invisible" and can only perceive by the five senses. It can also hide your intent, objects and spell that you "discharge" your mana into, making them invisible to the naked eye. The user presence of this technique can only be felt by those who employ Buscar, and to "see" the objects and spells hidden by this technique, they must use Enforcar on their eyes to see them.
Enforcar: The act of focusing mana into one single spot of your body or weapon to increase its effectiveness. You can use this technique to focus on your eyes to be able to see objects or spells Ocultar hides. However, the downside of this technique is that it will leave your entire body defenceless from attack due to you focusing your mana into one spot.
Difundir: The natural state of a Sorcerer, where they have mana surrounding them and stopping them from leaking away. By maintaining this technique, the user maintains youthful vigour and reduces ageing since the energy powering the body no longer leaks away; one can then keep the body from breaking down and deter the ageing process. Through frequent meditation and practice, one can improve the quality of their Difundir and eventually even maintain it in their sleep. |
"So that's how it is." Ky says to himself, "The current state that I am in is called Difundir, and by focusing mana into one spot is called Enforcar. And by hiding my mana hides my presence from being detected, which can also hide objects and spells; it's called Ocultar. Last but not least, by spreading my mana, I can sense people in the area in X radius and even spread my "killing intent", which is called Buscar."
As Ky continued reading the book, he came to the topic he wanted to learn about: mana affinity.
|There are six mana affinities; every individual is born having one of these six different mana affinities. Upon learning one's mana affinity, a Sorcerer can learn to apply the technique uniquely that suits their personality, which can develop into a unique spell called Augurium.

A Sorcerer has the potential to be 100% efficient at using abilities based on that affinity alone.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
A Sorcerer has the potential to be 80% efficient at using mana affinities adjacent to one's primary affinity, 40% efficient at the affinity opposite of their own, and 60% efficient in the two remaining affinities. However, one exception is Conceptual affinity, which is unusable for non-Conceptual because it is impossible to use partially; one can or cannot use Conceptual abilities.
Depending on their natural affinity, a Sorcerer will have a better time learning and mastering four prime/basic techniques that are close and opposite to their affinity. (An Amplifier will have a better time learning Buscar and Ocultar, while a Changer and Creator will have a better time learning and mastering Enforcar and Difundir.
However, most of the time, a person rarely has 100% affinity. Some users may lean on one side of their spot on the ring towards another affinity. This phenomenon is called Affinity Leaning. These Sorcerers can master the secondary affinity better that they lean towards better than a fellow user with their affinity.
People that have two equal affinities are called Dual-Affinity. If the Sorcerers are directly in the middle between two affinities, they will be capable of mastering that affinity at the same speed they would have with their natural affinity. However, the second affinity's level and efficiency still follow the affinity ring's rules.
There are many ways to find out what affinity you are, but the most popular one is by discharging your mana into the Sorcerer ID card, and the card colour would change depending on the affinity.
Green = Amplifier
Yellow = Changer
Pink = Controller
Grey = Creator
Red = Converter
Any other colours = Conceptual
The first colour that appears on the card is your natural born affinity. If there is a second colour appear on the card after the first colour, that would indicate that you have Affinity Leaning; the more second colour there is, the further you lean toward the second affinity; if you have two colours in the same amount, it means you have Dual-Affinity.
When you develop your Augurium, it is advised only to have one Augurium; however, it is still possible to have more than one Augurium, but it is not recommended because you will not have time to master your one Augurium. On the other hand, if you develop an Augurium based on your previous existing Augurium or an Augurium that would support your first Augurium, the Augurium that you make will be called Sub-Augurium.
The most advanced form of Augurium is called Caelum Augurium, a true realisation of one body, mind and soul, bringing out the full potential of your Augurium. Only Rank A or higher Sorcerers can perform this.|
"Wait? Is that it?" Ky suddenly says, "Is that all the information about Caelum Augurium? There is no way that is all there is to it. I need to learn more about this world and Sorcerers to know what Caelum Augurium is."
Ky shakes his head a little before pulling out his Sorcerer card and looks at it for a couple of seconds before discharging his mana into the card, doing the affinity test right then and there. As Ky's mana slowly pours into the card, the card itself starts to change in colour, and before Ky knows it, the card's colour has now been changed entirely. With two colours on the card, one is more than the other, indicating that Ky have Affinity Leaning and his two colours are black and red.
"Huh... So I'm a Conceptual with some Converter affinity." Ky said while looking at his now black and grey card, "If that is the case, then what kind of Augurium would I even have? I wonder..."
Ky shakes his head before turning his attention back to the book and continuing to read it and summarise it as best as possible
|Amplifier: A person with this affinity has the best way to use mana to enhance the natural abilities of an object or one's own body. An Amplifier has the power significantly increase their physical attack and defence and is best suited for melee combat.
Creator: Using their aura to create all kinds of objects, and if one is good enough, they can create sentient life separate from them or possibly even create laws and physics and affix them on an item or an area. Other people can see the objects or living beings created by a Creator unless they have the ability or restriction to hide them. They can also use Ocultar to hide them.
Controller: The use of discharging mana to control objects, living beings, or much more. The things that they can have control over can be anything depending on their own Augurium.
Changer: They can alter their form, appearance, or natural abilities by manipulating their bodies or location. The change can be anything obvious to something more subtle that no one can see it. With enough mastery over this affinity, a Changer can change their body properties into something impossible. (Teleportation does count as Changer affinity)
Converter: By converting mana into different properties that can be natural, manufactured or a combination of both. Altering the shape of mana also counts as this affinity. Anything that creates from a Converter can't be seen by regular people that don't have their mana vein awakened.
Conceptual: The affinity that does not fit in any category, the spell they have and create are the most unique and unpredictable. It is also the hardest affinity to develop Augurium because it can only combine naturally and instinctively.|
"My affinity is the hardest one to create an Augurium for. That's just fantastic." Ky said as he closed the book before standing up from the bench and stretching his arm, "Well, no point in complaining. I should start going to a dungeon nearby to earn money and then find a place to live. It would also help in training my mana usage. Killing two birds with one stone."
As Ky said that, he started walking to find the nearest dungeon, seemingly doesn't care about finishing the book or reading more about Sorcerer in general. In Ky's mind, he wants to spend reading the book after he does a dungeon first because going into the dungeon would, without a doubt, help him understand mana even further.
"Let's hope nothing bad happens in my first dungeon." As Ky said that, he suddenly stopped his walk, "Did I jinx myself...? No, it's going to be fine."
Little did Ky know, it would not be fine at all.
