"You. . . defeated him?" Those are the first words that leave Colt's mouth after witnessing the battle between Ky and Colt. To say that he was surprised would be an understatement. The experience in the fight between Ky and Verus is that of night and day; the difference is that big, not to mention this is not some random sport or job; Verus is an experience Sorcerer who is a mid-Rank D while the second lowest rank it still doesn't stop the fact that Verus is experienced, Sorcerer.
So when a newbie, who is not even a Sorcerer, who only had awakened their mana vein recently, should, by all means, stand no chance against Verus, that is the expectation that Colt has. He expects Ky to lose, simple is that, and he would need to interfere in the fight, stopping Verus from doing anything drastic.
That was his expectation, a very wrong expectation.
Not only did Ky defeat Verus, he beat him in such a way that it made things look easy, turning the experience Sorcerer into nothing more than a joke. Even now, Colt can see that Ky did not even break a sweat to defeat Verus; the only injuries (If you can call it that) that Ky gained were the injuries from using his arm to block Verus's kick that Enforcar reinforced.
But the most absurd thing out of them all is the things that Ky was able to perform during the fight; in the fight, Ky was able to do not only Difundir but also Enforcar, two of the main four basic techniques of magic. What makes it genuinely absurd is that to perform just one of these techniques, the person needs to train for at least a month to achieve it, not to mention the time it needs to master these techniques.
The only people able to perform these basic techniques this fast, in Colt's memories, were the four Rank Ex Sorcerers, and even then, Colt thought that Ky's learning might be even quicker than them combined, something that made Colt feel frightened deep down.
"Well, what else do you see?" Ky sarcastically asks, "It is so blindly obvious that everyone can see it; even blind people can see it."
Colt doesn't say anything and only stares back at Ky, the latter staring back at Colt with a small smile. Both of them keep staring at each other in silence before the sound of a sigh breaks it. A sigh came out of Colt's mouth before he moved his hand to rub his forehead.
Colt's eyes then turn toward Verus's unconscious body, which has blood leaking out from his head caused by Ky's attack, before looking around the arena with all of the Verus spinning tops lying around the area.
"So, are we going to the test now or not?" Ky asks
"No, we are not going to do the test anymore." Colt explains while making his way toward the unconscious body of Verus, "After all, you already passed this second test."
"Are you serious? That was the second test? I was expecting more, but who am I to complain." Ky says while shrugging, "So what now?"
With a sigh, Colt answers, "We are still checking your answers on your written exam. It should not take long for it to finish, so all you have to wait here for a few minutes."
As he answers that, Colt picks up Verus's body while also picking up all of the spinning tops in the area, putting it inside Verus's pocket, "I will probably be back with your test result, so wait here, understood?"
"Ok~" That was Ky's simple response before watching Colt leaving the room with the unconscious body of Verus.
After they leave the room, Ky immediately sits down on the ground while leaning back a little before letting out a deep sigh from his mouth.
"That was a pain in the ass." Ky mutters, "That fight is entertaining at first, but it gets annoying quickly. However, at least I learn something interesting in the fight."
As Ky finishes his sentence, he looks at one of his hands, still seeing this subtle white aura surrounding his body like a shield while giving off this feeling that Ky identified as submerging in warm water. However, Ky truly notices how he is not doing anything, and this aura of mana still surrounds him instinctively.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
Much like swimming or riding a bike, when Ky learns how to perform whatever this is, it will never be forgotten, and he will perform this technique unconsciously and instinctively.
Now, Ky also takes notice of something else.
'It feels like I have more stamina than usual, and I feel a little bit more. . . powerful? I guess that's a word for it.' Ky observes the mana aura that envelops his entire body as he thinks.
Ky continues to watch his mana before his mana aura moves; before focusing entirely on his right hand, he observes the mana that concentrates entirely on his right hand.
'The feeling of that warm water is gone now, and I feel like my right hand is being submerged in hot water but not too hot, making me feel pain.' Ky thought, 'This is the same thing that he(Verus) and I used back then. Suppose this follows the fantasy trope I know by focusing my mana(?) into a single spot. In that case, it increases my attack and defence on that spot while also leaving my entire body vulnerable to attack.'
'However, if that is the case, if I can focus on a single spot, what happens if I focus the mana on my eyes?' As Ky thought of that, he immediately did what he thought, and that was to focus mana on his eyes.
And when Ky open his eyes, he can feel that warm feeling in both of his eyes, but when he looks around, he sees no difference in the surrounding, at first, that is.
At first, Ky thought he was seeing nothing different, but when he paid close attention, he realised he was seeing more details on possibly everything. Ky can see every point on the ground when he looks at the floor.
'I see, so it enhances my vision; I guess that makes sense.' As Ky continues to look around, he lets go of his concentration, and his mana state returns to normal, enveloping his body in mana.
As Ky waited for another five minutes, the room door opened again, getting Ky's attention, and coming out of the room was no other than Colt himself, and in his hand was an envelope and a single book.
"Apologies for the wait." Colt said to Ky, the latter of whom stood back up from the ground, "Here is your result."
As Colt says, he hands Ky the envelope, which Ky quickly accept. Without even waiting for Colt to say anything, Ky immediately opens the envelope right then and there, causing Colt to roll his eyes, seeing what Ky is doing.
As Ky pulls out the paper, he immediately skims it so that he already knows what it says.
Written Exam: 100 points
Practical Exam: 100 points
You have passed
Welcome new Sorcerer, Ky Kurenai, Rank D
"Rank D, huh? I thought I might be higher than that." As he looks inside the envelope, Ky says he saw a card identifying him as a Sorcerer with his name, rank and picture; he had no idea where they got it.
"That's just how things work; everyone will always start from Rank D." Colt explains, "If you want to rank up, you need to clear a certain amount of dungeons with a certain rank to move up in rank."
Ky hums before responding, "I guess that makes sense." As Ky says, his attention is still on Colt's hand, "So what with the book?"
"This-" Colt says, handing the book to Ky, who also quickly accepts it, "-is a book that will tell you all about the basics of Sorcerers, dungeons, and mana and how to use them."
"I thought I would be assigned a teacher?" Ky asks back while looking at the empty front cover of the book.
"You were, but after much consideration, we conclude that the best teacher you can have is your own. Don't you agree?" Colt said with a tiny smirk that Ky noticed, causing him to smirk back.
"You damn right about that." Ky response.
"So, before you leave, let me explain some basic things first." Colt says, "That Sorcerer card that you have can be used as a dungeon searcher; when you come near a dungeon, the card will start to glow while emitting mana of its own, and the more intense it is, the closer you are to the dungeon. It can also be used to identify your mana affinity and dungeon difficulty, and it will keep a track record of how many dungeons you clear. So you better not lose that damn card."
"Mana affinity? What the hell is that?" Ky asks which Colt only rolls his eyes in a response
"You will find that out after you read the book." Colt answers
Ky didn't say anything and shrugged his shoulder before leaving the room. While leaving the room, he could hear Colt say something to him first.
"Congratulations on becoming a Sorcerer. A job where nobody will thank us, we will die alone, and no one will mourn for us."
As Ky left the room, he said nothing as he entered the elevator before the door closed. When the door close, Ky, of course, opens up the book in his hand while waiting for the elevator to reach the first floor, and the first thing that greets him is an image.
An image that makes Ky smirk before turning into a full-blown laugh that echoes inside the elevator. As Ky looks at the picture, he cannot help but mutter, "This just got a lot more interesting. Look like this will be more entertaining than I thought."
The image that Ky see is, of course, this. . .
