Training went wrong

Her eyes flickered with silent gasps in her heart, watching the big, daunting wolves sparring in pairs of two. She clutched onto Kyle’s arm firmly, holding on tightly.

“Halt!!” he shouted, even scaring Ashlee. This asshole! She muttered in her mind, glaring at him from behind.

Everyone stopped, slowly approaching the Alpha, standing in their positions. They began shifting into their human forms one by one, cautiously covering themselves. It was getting awkward, but Ashlee tried not to look at the men with God-like bodies and the women with heavenly curves.

How beautiful they all were! Kyle noticed her anxiety and her eyes wandering over the naked members of his pack—notably, the male members.

He felt a weird sensation and an urge to make her stop looking at them. Placing his hands over his torso, he moved in front of her, blocking her view.

She scrunched her face and sidestepped, peeking around him with a sheepish smile. This must be heaven for her, seeing so much hotness and handsomeness all together.

“In Position!” he shouted again and stepped in front of her once more. She let out a frustrated sigh, resisting the urge to punch him in the back of the head. Swiftly, he turned around, surprising her.

“Stay still!” he whispered, his tone commanding. His face was serious, and she gulped, remaining still. “Your eyes should never see anyone other than me. You understand?” he asked, his captivating eyes intense, veins popping out, making him look even sexier.

“Are you jealous?” she asked, amused. His reactions were priceless.

He huffed, looking to the side. “Why would I be jealous?”

“You sound like it,” she whispered, smirking, crossing her arms behind her.

“Alpha Kyle!” a rough voice from behind caught their attention. He looked over and saw everyone waiting for him to continue.

“Today, let me introduce you to Ashlee. My mate, obviously, as everyone knows. She will be training from now on.” Kyle announced, leaving Ashlee stunned. She’s going to fight werewolves? These big creatures? Is he for real?

“But isn’t she human?” Heather raised a brow, annoyed. Wasn’t it enough for her to be his mate, and now she wanted to train with him too?

When did she get here? Ashlee thought, surprised at every turn.

“She’s strong enough. She just needs to learn defense techniques,” Kyle replied sternly to Heather. She was even getting on his nerves now. “Don’t worry, pair up as usual. She will be my partner.”

Heather scoffed, “Then who will I pair with?” She shot Ashlee a disgusted look.

“Let me pair up with her.” The voice stunned everyone. Ashlee’s eyes locked on Heather, who seemed determined. Kyle looked concerned. Heather wouldn’t be gentle, and what if she hurt her again?

“Ashlee,” Kyle whispered, holding her arm, breaking her crossed arms as she took a ready stance.

“It’s alright. I can handle it, I guess. She still has to pay for what she did to me.” Ashlee gave him a calm, soft smile, though her heart betrayed her fear. She was terrified of what lay ahead. But if she wanted others to see her worth, she had to prove herself.

“What if you get hurt?” Kyle asked, rubbing his temples. How could he let her jump into such a fiery pit?

“I have you then.” She smiled, pecking his lower jaw, and took her place beside Heather, who continued to sneer at her.

Kyle sighed, knowing she wouldn’t back down. ‘She won’t even listen to me. Does she even take me seriously as an Alpha?’ He shook his head and let it go, deciding to intervene if she got hurt.

“Pair up and start with defense!” Kyle ordered, watching Ashlee closely.

“I’ll try to go easy on you, stinky human.” Heather grinned, taking her stance, knees bent, body leaned forward, hands raised defensively.

“You can do it, Ashlee!” Ashlee whispered to herself, stealing a glance at Kyle, who nodded. She lunged at Heather, who dodged easily.

“What are you? A kindergarten kid?” Heather taunted, resuming her stance and letting Ashlee try again. Ashlee attacked furiously, but Heather sidestepped once more, sending Ashlee sprawling to the ground with scratches on her knees.

Ashlee hissed at the sting of pain, getting up as Kyle approached. She shook her head, signaling him not to interfere.

“Wanna go again?” Heather chuckled, amused as everyone halted to watch. Ashlee versus Heather was more exciting than a hunt. They were curious to see if a human could stand against a wolf’s strength.

“I’ll let you go!” Ashlee said, standing shakily. Kyle’s patience was wearing thin. What if Heather actually hurt her?

And then it happened. Ashlee dodged, but Heather spun too quickly, landing a blow on her side—the same spot she’d struck last time. Ashlee gritted her teeth, refusing to fall.

“This is so boring!” Heather sneered, her evil grin igniting Ashlee’s anger. The memory of how Heather had humiliated her replayed in her mind like a reel.

Ashlee steadied herself, waiting for Heather’s next move. Heather smirked, ignoring Alpha’s order to stop, ready to take any chance to beat Ashlee.

“Heather, Halt!!” Kyle shouted, rushing towards Ashlee. Heather ignored him, and Ashlee didn’t dodge this time, staying perfectly still.

To escalate, Heather extended her claw, aiming to tear Ashlee’s shoulder. But before she could make contact, Ashlee grabbed her claw, twisting her arm and yanking her down, making Heather growl.

Heather felt Ashlee’s unexpected strength, disbelief in her eyes. How is she doing this? Humans can’t be this strong.

Without giving anyone time to process what happened, Ashlee spun Heather around to face her and delivered a powerful slap that echoed louder than it should have.

The red imprint of her hand was visible on Heather’s face. Furious, Heather tried to hit back, but Ashlee’s control held firm. Heather couldn’t get up.

“This is for what you did to me,” Ashlee whispered, loud enough for Heather alone to hear, and slapped her other cheek.

“This is to teach you never to humiliate or underestimate people!” With that, Ashlee stepped back, leaving Heather lying on the ground, humiliated. For a wolf to be beaten by a mere human—it was pure disgrace.

“You must’ve thought I was an innocent angel. Guess what, I’m not.” She bent down to Heather’s level as Heather straightened, covering her face.

Ashlee grabbed Heather by the back of her head, pulling her close to whisper, “I’m letting you off for now. Misbehave with me again or touch my man, and I’ll make sure your life becomes a living hell!”

Ashlee stood, ignoring Heather’s wrathful glare, and walked to Kyle with a proud smile.

“Does it hurt too much?” Kyle asked, putting an arm around her waist and gently touching the spot where Heather had punched her.

“I’m fine. It’s okay.” She reassured him, though pain flickered in her voice.

“And I’m supposed to believe that?” he scoffed, looking around. “Get back to work!” he commanded, before leading her back to the house, supporting her.

“I was pretty good, right?” she chuckled, wincing as she rubbed her sore abdomen.

“You’re never training with anyone other than me again.” He narrowed his eyes, his tone cold.

“Alright. Fine.” Ashlee rolled her eyes, still not viewing him as her Alpha—he was just Kyle to her.

“But I was still pretty amazing,” she insisted as he guided her to Esyn’s room.

“Yeah, you’re good at attacking, but you need to learn defense too,” he replied, finally humoring her chatter.

“Here, heal her, please,” Kyle instructed Esyn, helping Ashlee sit down in the chair.

“What happened?” Esyn asked, inspecting the bluish bruise on Ashlee’s abdomen.

“She was training with Heather,” Kyle replied, leaning against the wall.

“Why would you do that? She’s a werewolf, a thousand times stronger than you, Ashlee,” Esyn scolded her. Ashlee bit her lip.

“Well, I took her down, though,” Ashlee murmured, looking down.

“Wait. Really?” Esyn’s surprise was evident. She glanced at Kyle, who nodded in confirmation.

“How?” she asked Kyle, who simply shrugged, equally mystified by Ashlee’s strength.

“Well, I have a feeling we’re going to be best friends.” Esyn chuckled, applying cold wipes to Ashlee’s wound.
