Consequences of jealousy

Consequences of jealousy

Her eyes didn't show a single sign of fear. She was rather living with a mixture of sadness and happiness. Just after saying those few words and a mere touch, she blacked out.

"Seriously?" Kyle sighed, lowering his head and shaking it. What was he even expecting from a human anyway?

"Ashlee," he changed back to normal. He smoothly wrapped a blanket around his torso. He walked towards her. She was still sleeping without any worry.

"How could someone be this dumb and brave?" Kyle ran his fingers gently down her face, admiring the softness and innocence shimmering under the moonlight.

Instantly, he was surrounded by many others from his pack, including his sister and Heather. They stood back, waiting for his orders and the reason for calling them over.

He doesn't remember sending the signal to Heather, but it doesn't matter if she is here. He picked up Ashlee in his arms and gave a sharp look to his pack.

They all understood and stayed still in their places. Except for Heather, who kept walking around the yard, hissing and burning with jealousy. She had never seen Kyle holding someone other than her in his arms.

"Can you stay put?" Esyn rolled her eyes in frustration.

"Can you stay shut?" Heather replied with arrogance in her voice.

"Keep that up and someday I'll kill you." Esyn flashed her a tight smile, her eyes narrowed.

"Fear your brother," Heather smirked, getting a bit too proud of Kyle on her side. "You know what he will do when it comes to me, don't you, little pup?"

"Don't be too proud. If he found out about your nasty behavior, I'm sure he will get bored and irritated. Soon he will feel the urge to get rid of you like all of us." Esyn said her words clearly enough to make her understand them.

"Who is getting rid of who?" Kyle came out wearing the spare clothes they brought him.

"It's nothing to worry about, Kyle. Esyn just doesn't like me much. I don't blame her though. It's okay." Heather's overdramatic side came out. She clung to him as if she owned him. Putting a fake frown on her face, she smirked at Esyn.

"You bitch." Esyn hissed and stepped forward to slap her but was stopped by her mate.

"Don't, Esyn. She will get what she deserves. You don't have to put dirt on your hands." Derion convinced her, and she stepped back, listening to him.

"Esyn, you know she is an orphan. There is not much we can do for her. Just bear with it until she finds her mate. She will change, I promise." Kyle sent her a mind link, getting Esyn furious over it.

"Haven't we done enough already? You don't even care what she does to others, do you?" Esyn shouted in his head. He sighed, understanding that Esyn won't calm down if he keeps talking like that.

"Okay. Fine. I'll pay more attention." Kyle gave in, and his attention shifted to Ashlee's room's window. He glanced over it and heard her calm, peaceful breathing, knowing she was asleep.

Heather sensed his feelings and her jealousy intensified. Kyle had never looked at her like that before. She couldn't lose him either. But most importantly, she didn't want to lose him to a human girl.

"Let's go for a hunt," Kyle commanded his pack. All feared their alpha and didn't dare to refuse, even though this was their resting time.

They all went wild with him, hunting down mercilessly. Leaving marks of their vigorous pack. The whole night was crazy and tiring, but everyone enjoyed hunting with their Alpha.

"How do I look?" Heather stood in front of the mirror, wearing clothes from high school students, looking extra normal and cute.

"Total human," Diana replied, opening the curtains to let sunlight in.

"Right." Heather chuckled, swirling around. "Today is going to be the best day of my life. I will take that stupid human chic down. Then Kyle will only have eyes for me." Clasping her hands in excitement, she giggled, running the imagination wild in her head.

"You ready?" Heather asked Diana, and Diana nodded, not very certain. She needed to behave extremely badly to make Kyle stay back home and not go for Ashlee.

"Okay, go." Heather took out a pinch of wolfsbane in a small, pointy-tipped bottle.

"I... I don't really think it's the best idea. We can go for something less dangerous." Diana gulped, harshly looking at the bottle. She couldn't take wolfsbane into her body. She would die within a few minutes.

"Come on, Diana. You said you would do it. Besides, I don't have much time to think about something else." Heather irked, hissing irritably.

Diana looked at Heather, encouraging her to take it, and then abruptly took the bottle. Opening it, she looked at Heather again. Heather smiled and signaled her to take it.

Is she even a true friend? How could she just ask her friend to die like that?

Diana didn't stay for a second thought and gulped down the whole thing in the bottle. Soon, she felt dizzy and collapsed on the floor. Heather quickly hid the bottle under her bed mattress.

"Ugh!! Can't she eat less?" Heather growled, picking Diana up and placing her far from her room, so that someone notices and creates an alert.

And it happened. One of the guards showed up. He tried to wake Diana but sensed something unusual. He ran to Kyle and Esyn. Everyone gathered. They put Diana in her room on the bed.

"What happened?" Kyle asked furiously, concerned about the girl warrior of his pack.

"I just found her fainted in the hallway while passing by," the guard replied, giving him nothing more.

"Kyle." Esyn shivered, putting her hands on Diana.

Heather got the chance to escape while everyone was busy with Diana. She was proud of herself for thinking about the best way. She had already calculated all the things. When everything gets back to normal, she would be home by then.

"What is it?" Kyle stared coldly at his sister. He had never seen his sister this worried for something so trivial.

"She... I sense wolfsbane in her veins." Esyn breathed, fearing one of their pack members would die soon.

"What the hell are you saying?" Kyle shouted, confused. Who brought wolfsbane into their house? The security they had was even tighter than what they gave to America's President. Then how? How the hell did wolfsbane come here?

"I'm sure. It's wolfsbane. I can feel it. She is getting eaten alive. I don't think I can save her alone. I need help." Esyn held herself together and stayed firm, holding Diana's hand.

"Call Colin. I need Colin's healer right now!!" Kyle shouted, getting confused and frustrated. He doesn't want to lose anyone from his pack. He has always been an example of a great Alpha, keeping everyone safe and secure.

Ashlee got up in the morning, with her head throbbing hard. She never thought a bottle of wine could be this effective. Even walking with that pain was threatening to her.

She took two painkillers before leaving the house and suddenly had flashes of what she did last night. Kyle made her get drunk. She was sure she would kill him today.

"Damn it!" She gently hit her head, which didn't stop throbbing like hell.

The whole day at school felt a bit lonely. Kyle didn't go to school. Ashlee should be the one happier for that, but she felt empty instead. The whole day went unusually boring without him there.

She just kept wondering if he was okay or not. Fortunately, she didn't remember him changing into a wolf last night. Her memories were only available until she drank the wine and nothing more.

The classes came to an end. With a disappointed heart, which she just couldn't understand, she swung her bag around her shoulders. Leaving the school, as nobody even bothered her.

She sensed someone following her. She stopped and looked back, but there was no one. Soon, the empty area with not many people around contributed to her anxiety.

She stopped, remembering it could be Kyle. He is the only one who would follow her to her house. She turned around and no one was there. The silence was shouting aloud, but no sign of a single human.

She sighed, "Come on out. I know you are here, you sick pervert. When will you ever stop following me like a creep?" She was somewhat excited, expecting he would pop up suddenly in front of her eyes.

Unfortunately, a girl with curly blue hair, dark brown eyes, and fair skin showed herself. Ashlee was sure she saw her at school today. But why was she following her?

"How naive!" Heather giggled. "I don't generally hate someone, but seeing you, I can't resist and have the urge to just tear your throat out." She put on a creepy smile.

"Wh...What?" Ashlee slowly stepped back, breathing heavily. Seeing the look in the girl's eye, she was sure Heather didn't have good intentions.
