"I think we had a proper agreement." Kyle sniffed, rubbing his nose and looking around sneakily to see if anyone was watching them or not.
The secretary suddenly shifted into her original form—glowing black eyes without an ounce of sincerity or innocence, like a devil's well-wisher. Her head was covered by a cape, hiding her long, pointed ears. Her armor was made of ebony metal, which wasn't enough to scare werewolves, as they were only afraid of blood moons, silver objects, wolfsbane, and mistletoe.
Kyle sighed heavily. "What business do elves have with a human girl?" he asked as calmly as he could, restraining the urge to just kill the assassin dark elf right there.
"I was asked to bring her over to someone. Don't worry, I'm not going to kill her." She smiled, her eyes revealing a true darkness that matched her attire.
"Who made the deal with you?" Kyle asked, swirling his tongue impatiently inside his mouth.
"I cannot tell you that. It's an elf's deal, after all." She smirked, keeping her guard up, her grip firm on her sword.
Kyle slowly stepped closer, inhaling deeply to keep his patience. "You know, it's forbidden for you people to make deals these days—especially with humans. If you open your mouth while I'm asking politely, I might let you off." His voice was firm and cold, matching his intense gaze.
"It's not the first human we've made a deal for." She smirked, licking her lips. "Are you going to save every human from us?" she whispered, attempting to cast a seductive spell on Kyle, but she failed.
"I'm not sure about that. But I'm definitely not planning on giving this one up." Kyle chuckled as his wolf started to take over.
She attacked out of panic but missed as Kyle dodged. He grinned and positioned his legs on the ground, confusing her as to where she should strike. Ebony metal wasn't going to harm him. He knew that to capture this elf, he needed to be careful not to kill her.
"I'm going to take down two with one arrow today." She stretched her shoulders, gripped her sword tightly, and rushed toward Kyle, screaming.
Kyle jumped high, making her lose her sword. His bites were lethal, but he avoided killing her, as he needed information. A sharp cut dug into the side of her ribs. She groaned in pain, but Kyle ignored it, more concerned about others hearing her screams. He pressed his claw over her mouth, muffling her.
"I need backup! NOW!" Kyle sent a mind link to his beta, Derion, who was with Esyn but followed his Alpha's orders.
With a few guards, Derion rushed toward the signal sent by Kyle, already sensing something dark from the way Kyle's voice sounded.
"Kyle." Ashlee had come looking for Kyle and the secretary, only to find a large werewolf pinning down a demon-like creature. Her head throbbed even more intensely.
"What the hell is she doing here?" Kyle muttered, watching Ashlee gulp and scrunch her eyes, hissing as she clutched her head. His eyes softened, seeing her in pain.

His grip on the elf loosened, allowing her to throw Kyle off and grab her sword. Her eyes began to ooze a dark, molten liquid, showing she was pouring all her power into attacking Kyle.
"No," Ashlee gasped, collapsing to the ground, clutching her head. The pain was overpowering, and a voice in the back of her mind urged her to let go.
Kyle's focus shifted from Ashlee to the elf. He stood firmly in front of Ashlee, blocking the sword aimed at him. Her sword grazed Kyle's shoulder as his pack took her down.
Derion attacked the elf, subduing her. She had exhausted her strength and magic on Kyle and could no longer resist.
Kyle quickly shifted back into human form. Covering himself, he went to Ashlee and found her unconscious.
"Don't kill her. Lock her up," Kyle ordered Derion and the others, who nodded and followed his command.
"Ashlee?" He stroked her cheek gently, trying to wake her. She was breathing normally. "Was she scared?" he whispered, lifting her into his arms.
Before leaving, Kyle exchanged a look with Derion, who nodded approvingly, as if to say Kyle was on the right path. Kyle needed to be the man his mate needed, and now he was becoming one.
Kyle entered the school, hearing the rumors circulating about Ashlee and Mr. Harvey. As he carried Ashlee's unconscious body through the hall, an awkward silence fell.
All eyes were on him. He could hear some gasps and genuine concern for Ashlee, but Crista remained indifferent, as usual. She wouldn't care if Ashlee disappeared entirely.
"Where is the infirmary?" Kyle asked a guy with glasses, who seemed nerdy yet genuinely concerned.
"I'll show you." He nodded and led Kyle. Kyle shot cold, harsh glares at the students giving them strange looks.
"Oh dear lord! What happened?" the school nurse gasped, rushing over.
"She seemed to faint from shock," Kyle murmured, though he didn't really know why Ashlee had fainted.
"What kind of shock?" the nurse asked, looking between Kyle and the boy who had led him.
"...," Kyle was at a loss for words. What could he say? That she saw a werewolf and an elf fighting?
"Lay her down first." The nurse showed him to a bed. "Here. Gently," she whispered, and Kyle laid Ashlee down smoothly.
"Maybe it's because of this weird rumor." The nerd showed the nurse a post on the school homepage. She frowned as she read it.
"Oh, poor girl," the nurse murmured, beginning to examine her. Kyle and the boy waited quietly.
The nurse bit her lip and checked Ashlee's eyes again. She repeated each step, checking her heartbeat once more.
"What's wrong?" Kyle asked, sensing something unusual.
"Her symptoms don't indicate fainting from shock. It's strange," the nurse muttered, still examining Ashlee.
"How could that be?" Kyle was surprised. Did she faint for another reason? Why wasn't she shocked to see me as a werewolf? Or the elf? What was it?
"Is Miss Ashlee Cox here?" A knock interrupted them. The three nodded in unison.
"A disciplinary meeting will be held this afternoon for Miss Ashlee and Mr. Harvey. But is she alright?" It was the actual secretary, informing them.
"She fainted," the nerd interjected, before anyone else could speak. Kyle glared at him.
"What? Why?" the secretary asked, stepping in.
"Actually, she..." Kyle began to make up an excuse.
"She was shocked by the post on the school homepage," the nerd interrupted again. Kyle was tempted to hit him.
"Really? Poor thing. I'll inform the superiors to cancel the meeting. Make sure she's alright." She tapped away in her heels.
"Can't you keep your mouth shut?" Kyle hissed, showing a fist to the nerd, who raised his hands defensively.
"It would have been better if they suspended that idiotic teacher. But you...! Ahh!" Kyle growled, unable to hit the terrified nerd.
"Oh, she's waking up!" the nurse exclaimed as they all watched Ashlee slowly come to, holding her head.
Ashlee looked around and saw them staring curiously. Their gazes felt almost unnerving.
"Wha... What is it?" Ashlee stammered, straightening up and folding her legs.
"Are you alright?" Kyle asked, stepping closer.
"Yes, of course." Ashlee chuckled nervously, recalling the strange scene she had witnessed.
"Are you hurt? Do you remember why you fainted?" the nurse asked, shoving her hands in her coat pockets.
"I... I don't remember. My head was throbbing, and then I blacked out," Ashlee stuttered, not wanting anyone to know about the voices she'd heard.
