Her secret scars

Her secret scars

Ashlee slowly began to make dinner, constantly glancing out of the kitchen window to see if he was watching her or hadgone. Her eyes kept flickering here and there, which caught her Uncle's attention.

"What's on your mind?" he asked, getting comfortable on the couch. She hated him to death, but she couldn't do anything about it.

"Nothing," she murmured without sparing him any looks and kept her mind on making dinner. Finally, she served it on the table and looked over to her Uncle.

He was busy watching the football match and scratching his neck awkwardly. Why didn't he just die instead? It wouldmake Ashlee's life somewhat easy.

"Dinner is ready," Ashlee told him. He kept laughing while watching the TV and went to wash his hands.

"When is your mother coming?" he asked, checking the dinner.

"She has a night shift today." Ashlee's voice shivered while saying that. She knew what would happen if he found outshe was alone with him tonight.

"That means we have a lot of time tonight, don't we? Dear niece." He rested his hand on her thigh; thankfully, she wore jeans. Ashlee flinched but didn't utter a word.

"Pour me a drink," he ordered her, eating everything strangely on his plate. How Ashlee wished she could just shove that fork into his throat but couldn't.

She poured him a drink and sat down quietly back in her place. She didn't taste a single thing on her plate. Her mind was just filled with all the worst scenarios that could happen tonight.

"You look pretty tonight, huh?" The drunk nasty man started getting closer to her. Smelling her hair, rubbing her shoulder roughly, and cringing her out was his specialty. "I should head inside," Ashlee tried to avoid it. But she knew that was something impossible. He would find a way out of her either calmly or forcefully. This was nothing more than an intense amount of abuse she suffered daily to protect herself from this monster.

"Did I tell you to?" He grabbed her mouth fiercely, making her look the other way while he kept biting her skin.

She whimpered in pain and agony. Her eyes met Kyle's, watching it all happen live. He was ready to tear apart the man into two but stopped midway when Ashlee's eyes pleaded with him to.

"Please," she mouthed to him to go away. Somehow, she knew he was purely conscious, but something wasn't adding up in the situation.

She pushed her Uncle away in one go, which made him more fierce than before. She knew it was the time he would beat her up for misbehaving, so she inhaled deeply and let him.

"You bitch," he groaned, stumbling on his feet, already drunk.

He took out his belt and started smashing the trail of spanks on her. She didn't even hiss for a second and kept enduring whatever came her way. Kyle wanted to just come into the way, stop it, and smash him; that was the only thing in his mind. But due to Ashlee's refusal, he couldn't get his way.

He couldn't watch anymore and ran away into the woods, letting his wolf out, howling and growling in fury. He ripped off many innocent animals in his rage that night.

"Why wouldn't she let me help her?" he yelled as loud as he could, smashing his head into trees and making them fall. The area looked as if a grave storm had just passed through.

Suddenly, a group of wolves surrounded him, attempting to stop him from making any further destruction. Slowly, with their help, he calmed down and changed back into his human form.

"What the hell is up with you?" Esyn, Kyle's sister, burst out at him. She was one with those pure golden eyes. Her specialty was to heal people, especially the wolves within their pack. Even though she was a rare wolf among others, it wasn't so chronic to find a healer wolf easily. But she was blessed.

She let out her hand with a shimmering golden light, healing Kyle's head slowly without causing him any pain.

"What happened?" Everyone knew Kyle was sent to find his mate. He came back with more vigor than before. It wasn't normal, and they knew it.

"I saw her and a man. He was... They were..." Kyle started to recall the events he had just watched live with his own eyes. Yet he couldn't do a thing about it.

"Kyle, it's alright. I've heard that many times. When you have a human mate, they usually have boyfriends from before, but you guys are mates, and when she feels the bond, she will come to you." Esyn tried to assure him that he wasn't going to lose his mate. But in his head, it was something else.

"Do you think I care about a mere human mate? I don't! Esyn." Kyle furiously stood up and looked at the others from his pack, who were still in their wolf form.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

"He was definitely not her boyfriend," Kyle muttered out loud, rubbing his temples and feeling the headache he just got.

"If you don't care, then let her be. Just go home and tell mom and dad you don't need a mate. We will see how the pack without a Luna would carry on." Esyn gritted her teeth, rolling her eyes.

"Forget with the Luna, Esyn. You and I both know a human can never be the Luna. I don't want to argue further on this. It's the end." Kyle growled, flaring through his nostrils and shoving his red, fearless orbs into Esyn's golden ones.

He was about to walk away when he suddenly got an idea. He had a sister, and she could help him. If she could persuadeAshlee, maybe it wouldn't take him long to get her to his home.

"Listen, Esyn." He turned around in a manner that suggested he wanted to ask for a favor but couldn't because he was embarrassed. "You go and talk to her," he said, as if it was an order from the Alpha.

"Talk to who?" Esyn tilted her head, a bit confused.

"To Ashlee," Kyle replied, swirling his tongue in his mouth and looking away at the sky filled with stars.

"Ashlee? Your mate?" Esyn scoffed. "And why should I do that?" She folded her arms, narrowing her eyes at him.

"Do you always have to do this?" Kyle cringed his face, knowing that asking for a favor from Esyn would cost him something.

"People say, grab any single chance you get." Esyn smirked mischievously at Kyle.

"Help me make Ashlee believe that I'm the Alpha and I'm no harm to her." He muttered the sentence, feeling ashamed in front of his pack. In a sudden second, everyone turned back into their human forms. All were bewildered to hear him say that.

Kyle looked at all of them, staring at him weirdly. "What?" he groaned in annoyance and turned to face the other way.

"Wait a second." Esyn stepped forward. "The girl you say is a 'mere human mate' does not even listen to you. And she thinks you are a danger to her. So that is why you were so violent. Because it hurts your ego, Mr. Self-Centered Alpha." Esyn grinned evilly. She was enjoying it really to the fullest. No one had ever dared to refuse the alpha or even insult him in any form. What was this ordinary girl? Why was she being so special and fearless?

"Of course not. It's about something else. You will know once you meet her." Kyle rolled his eyes in annoyance and walked past. Everyone followed him behind to the great mansion of werewolves.

The antique design and Spanish architecture with an Italian touch. It was beyond something unique. Even the maids were wolves who were not trained to fight, though. The grand hall was breathtaking, with its upper area covered with the scenarios of Roman and Greek mythological characters.

That whole night, Kyle couldn't get any sleep. All he could do was think about Ashlee. The way she was getting hurt while staring into his eyes. He was so devoted to killing her Uncle.

"You are drinking a lot tonight." Heather entered his office, gazing her eyes down his naked upper body. Kyle didn't bother to notice her until she roamed her claws swiftly along his torso.

"What are you doing here?" Kyle jolted her away. His mind was pretty occupied with other things, and Heather should know this wasn't the time for laying down.

"I thought you might need some company after meeting that grotesque human mate." Heather smirked, thinking he would like her remark. But tonight he was different. He didn't want to hear a word about Ashlee from anyone but Ashlee herself.

"Get out!" he gritted his teeth. "I'm not in the mood for this."

"Aw, come on. I can make you feel better." She leaned in, kissing his collarbone and tempting him to pull her closer. But Kyle wasn't falling for it.

"Leave." He slapped her hand away from him and stood up to leave. But Heather quickly caught his wrist, stopping him from walking away.

"Don't walk away from me." Her voice turned cold. "I swear if you ever go after that human mate, I will make sure you regret it."

"Do you want to fight me?" Kyle turned to face her, glaring at her with fiery eyes.

"No." Heather shook her head, her eyes softened. "I want you to stop. This is not worth it, Kyle. You are meant for greatness. Not some pathetic human girl."

"Don't you get it? I can't live without her." He sounded heartbroken, glaring at her.

"Tell me something; what is so special about her?" Heather stepped closer, staring directly into his eyes.

He swallowed hard. "I just know. It's the pull."

"Pull?" she chuckled, rolling her eyes. "You do know you can have any wolf here, right? Why would you want her? She isn't even a wolf."

"She's mine!" Kyle shouted, sending the pack into chaos with his outburst. Everyone rushed out of their rooms to find the disturbance.

"Okay, okay!" Heather raised her hands defensively. "Relax. I'm just saying she will be the death of you."

"No, she won't." He stormed away from her and entered the hallway, where he could find his family members gathering to figure out what was going on.

"Did I just hear an argument?" Mom whispered, looking at her husband for confirmation.

"Yeah, a very loud one," Dad said, rubbing his temples in frustration.

"I should talk to him." Esyn nodded and ran to find Kyle, who was pacing back and forth in his room. She opened the door without a knock and slammed it behind her, catching Kyle off guard.

"What now?" he turned away, still feeling irritated about the whole situation.

"What the hell is going on with you?" Esyn stepped closer. "Why are you obsessing over that girl?"

"She's not just a girl. She's my mate!" Kyle shouted back, getting angrier than ever.

"Are you sure you don't have a thing for Heather?" Esyn teased, trying to ease the tension.

"Ugh, that's not what it's about!" Kyle groaned, throwing his hands up in frustration.

"Then what is it?" Esyn crossed her arms, tapping her foot impatiently.

"I can't explain it. I just feel like I have to protect her," Kyle admitted, finally looking at her.

"You care for her?" Esyn's expression softened.

"Yes," he said, feeling relieved that he finally admitted it.

"Then you need to do something about it," she said, smiling. "You need to win her over."

"How? She doesn't trust me," Kyle said, slumping down on his bed.

"Start by showing her you're not a threat," Esyn suggested. "Maybe I could help. I'll talk to her."

"Do you really think she'll listen?" Kyle asked, looking at her with a mix of hope and doubt.

"I can make her listen. Just trust me," Esyn replied, her smile brightening the room.

"Okay, just be careful," Kyle warned. "I can't lose her."

"Don't worry. I'll make sure she understands," Esyn promised, giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder.

As Esyn left his room, Kyle took a deep breath, feeling a glimmer of hope for the first time that night. He needed to win Ashlee's heart, no matter what it took.
