Movie night

"Feel free to roam around and check every room." Ashlee snickered, making breakfast and repeatedly glancing at Kyle as he roamed around, opening each room, scanning as if it were his house.

"I wasn't roaming around. I'm just bored." Kyle abruptly closed the door of her uncle's room, looking away from her as he knew she was right. He should have asked for permission before entering the rooms.

"When did you come to live here?" he asked, trying to figure out if she remembered not living here before or anything about her father.

"Since I was very little, as my mom told me," she replied, filling the pan with oil. She looked so odd wearing an apron, but at the same time, she looked so professional.

"What about you? You don't remember coming here?" Kyle had piled up questions for her. Fortunately, Ashlee was smart enough to figure out when someone was acting suspicious.

"What are you on about now? Collecting too much information to kidnap me and make it look like I ran away 'to find my father'?" Ashlee said sarcastically, making air quotes with her fingers, which Kyle didn't get.

"Stop watching too many dramas." Kyle irked, shaking his head. This girl isn't really that easy. Are all humans like this? "You're so human-like," he muttered a bit louder than he wanted to.

"I am a human," Ashlee narrowed her eyes at him.

"Yeah," Kyle just ignored her and went to the backyard, where Ashlee had put her clothes to dry. She was so into making the food that she forgot to collect her clothes.

"It may rain soon. Why is she so careless?" Kyle sighed and decided to help her by bringing her clothes inside.

His hands stopped at her undies—her lace bra and panties. He couldn't even take his eyes off them and gulped roughly, his hands trembling as he wondered, 'Should I take them or not?'

"Kyle?" Ashlee yelled as her footsteps approached. He stopped thinking and quickly grabbed her undies, covering them with other clothes.

"Yeah?" He awkwardly smiled at her, hiding her clothes behind his back. His smile made Ashlee think something was unusual; he wouldn't typically smile at her like that. Both of them thought they hated each other.

"What are you doing out here?" She tried to look at what he was hiding, but his fast pace and height wouldn't let her see anything.

"I... I was just..." He completely lost track of any excuses and looked around. "The weather. Yeah, the weather. I was just checking the weather. It's one fine day, don't you think?" He made the worst excuse he could.

"Huh?" Ashlee looked up at the cloudy sky and suddenly remembered her clothes would get wet. "Shit!! My..." Her eyes fell on the empty stand behind Kyle. "Where the hell are my clothes?" She was dumbfounded.

"Wait a sec." Her mind worked quickly, and she stared daggers at Kyle.

"Fuck!" Kyle muttered under his breath before running away from her.

"You sick pervert!" she shouted, chasing him all around the house.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to touch your inner clothes!" Kyle threw her clothes on the sofa and rushed behind the table.

"Then why did you?" Ashlee was on the other side of the table, trying to catch him and beat him up.

"I... I..." Kyle thought about it and couldn't come up with anything. "I don't know. Why did you put them there?" Instead of apologizing, he tried to make it seem like it was her fault.

"Oh, so now it's my fault for putting my own clothes in my own house? Come here, you asshole!" She demanded and ran after him. They changed positions—Kyle now on the other side of the table in front of the kitchen and Ashlee in front of the living room.

"It's not your house. It's literally outside your house," he pointed at the backyard.

"It's still my house and my backyard! I can do whatever I want." Ashlee chased him for a while but couldn't catch him. They were both being so childish.

"Let's calm down and make peace." Kyle slowly stepped closer to Ashlee, who was panting, clutching onto her knees.

"Okay." She straightened up and went to pick up her clothes.

"Yeah, we shouldn't fight when there's food, right?" Kyle kept his eyes on her, slowly moving over to the table and sitting calmly.

Ashlee came quietly and sat beside him. Was she mad? Disappointed? Why wasn't she saying anything? Was she hurt somewhere? Kyle scanned her weirdly. No, she wasn't.

"By the way, you don't look like you'd wear that kind of stuff," Kyle said, surely having a death wish. He could never stop teasing her.

"You creepy prick!" Ashlee grabbed a spoon and hit him on the head, hissing at him.

"Hey!!" Kyle growled, rubbing his head.

"What!?" Ashlee shouted back at him and started eating her breakfast.

"You're lucky you're a girl," Kyle muttered and dug in with her. They kept giving each other shady looks, trying to overpower each other. How could they be mates?

Soon, the rain and thunder surrounded the whole town, the outside becoming a dusky shade of dark with the wind raging through.

Hagatha Redwood, the youngest of the three oldest witches, stood outside, watching Kyle and Ashlee getting closer. Her bare-bones held her dark messenger of the devil, with vengeful eyes. She wasn't very pleased with a werewolf and human falling in love.

"Don't worry, Brennus. We will wait." She extended out her skinny, long hand with inch-long nails, stroking her crow's back. "We will wait until the right time. My spells aren't that weak," she smirked, watching Kyle and Ashlee.

The thunder made her look even uglier in her black, head-covered gown. With another stroke of lightning, she disappeared into thin air with her squeaky crow.

"The rain has stopped. Leave now," Ashlee demanded, opening the door for Kyle. He swooped deeper into the sofa, still unwilling to leave.

"I said get your ass out of my house." Ashlee folded her arms over her chest as the starry night with moonlight fell on her almost bare legs. It was the first time she was wearing shorts.

'Damn, her legs are really pretty,' Kyle thought, shaking his head and drifting his eyes back to the magazine.

"You said your mom isn't coming back. How can I leave you alone? I'm partly responsible for your safety," Kyle said, rolling his eyes.

"No, you're not," Ashlee scoffed at his nonsensical logic.

"Yes, I am," Kyle replied seriously, raising his brows.

"Oh really, as who?" she asked, tapping her foot as a cold breeze brushed her skin, making her shiver.

"As your mate," Kyle sighed, closing his magazine and going over to her with a blanket in his hands. "Now come on. I'm not leaving. That's final." He said, wrapping her in the blanket, tucking her in carefully.

This was so unexpected of him. Her cheeks went from pale to pink. Even her ear tips blushed harder as she looked at him, seeing him being so gentle with her.

This was the very first time a guy was this nice to her. She couldn't deny that he somehow made her heart flutter every time he helped her, though she would still deny her feelings for him.

Kyle's hands stopped as their eyes met. He saw her cheeks all blushed; she looked so adorable, more than any girl he had ever seen. His urge to just take her right there faded the longer he stared at her.

Nobody said a thing. Both of their hearts were having their own marathon. His wolf howled and begged him to let it take control. The more she kept her eyes on his, the more he wanted to kiss her.

"I..." Ashlee broke the silence, realizing this shouldn't be happening to her. She can't fall in love. "I'll go and sit down. THERE." Blinking rapidly, she broke her gaze and shouted, pointing at the lone sofa chair.

Before he could say anything, she ran and curled up on the sofa. Kyle watched her run away from him, chuckling, knowing how uneasy she just got.

"Do you want to watch a movie?" Kyle asked, standing beside the TV, looking at the CDs they had. 'What the hell are these? Half of them are erotic,' he sighed, recalling they must be her uncle's.

"Yeah, go with any," Ashlee replied without even knowing what he was holding. She just wanted this tense, awkward atmosphere to lighten up.

"Are you sure?" Kyle asked, smirking without turning to look at her.

"Yeah." Ashlee cuddled deeper into her blanket, watching him, confused over what to choose. Finally, he put something on.

"I'll make some popcorn. Do you want any?" Kyle asked, and Ashlee simply nodded, covering half of her face. She still wasn't over it yet.
