Human or wolf

Human or wolf

Rage of anger and discomfort waved in her heart. She kept telling herself that she could endure everything and give her mother the life she deserves. She just wanted this world to make her stop crumbling down and let her breathe.

But how can they? The society she lives in does not work smoothly. It is much worse than what is called humanity. Ashlee stomped on her feet on her way home.

It's a good thing Kyle left her alone. If not, he would have been following her the whole way and repeating the show he watched last night. And she absolutely didn't want anyone to watch her being dejected.

"You walk really fast." Kyle huffed, catching up with her. Ashlee groaned in annoyance. Why did I even think he wouldn't follow me?

"What do you want now?" She growled, still walking at her own pace.

"I have never repeated myself this many times in my whole lifetime of one hundred thirty years." Before Kyle could even continue explaining himself, he was interrupted by Ashlee laughing amusedly at his statement.

"You are a hundred and thirty years old?" She stopped, folding her arms across her chest, poking her orbs into his deep, dark eyes.

"Can't I be?" Kyle rolled his eyes. He knew humans don't have a long lifetime, but werewolves do, and he does. What's amusing about that?

"Are you sure you didn't run away from an asylum?" She relaxed her back against the tree behind her. There was no one on the way, and she didn't want him to be seen with her if someone passed by. Seeing her talking to a guy and telling her Uncle wouldn't do any good for her.

"Ashlee, I usually don't give warnings, but I will to you. Stop spitting nonsense. See these." He turned his hand into a hint of his wolf's claws. How the hell did he do that?

"I can rip off your throat with this. So think before you—" He was invariably interrupted by Ashlee. Her eyes widened asshe saw his hands turning into animal claws. She was the most curious one right now.

"How did you do that? Do you know magic?" She grabbed his hand and started tracing it gently. It felt so surreal. Kyle was surprised by how her attitude changed in a matter of seconds.

"Are you impressed?" He asked, staring at her, curious and excited. He had never seen her smile like that before. Did all humans react to werewolves like this? Suddenly, his mind wandered to useless stuff.

"Of course, who wouldn't be?" She replied, still playing with his hand. Her smile was the most precious one at the moment. How could someone be this mesmerizing?

"Why don't you come with me, and I will show you some more of my magic skills?" He grinned, thinking he would be able to take her to his pack easily. He was ordered to bring her by her choice and not force her to come with him.

Ashlee abruptly let go of his hand and took out her phone, checking the time and then the sky. She blinked, showing some hints of delicacy in her actions.

"I... I think I'll be late for home. So, see you tomorrow at school." She flashed a forced smile and turned on her heels. Damn!! She got the wrong idea.

Kyle cursed himself again, watching her walk away from him. She didn't trust him yet. How can I make her trust me? Should I show her what I really am? Maybe she will get even more scared if I do that. He kicked the rock on the side of the road, shattering it into pieces.

"Ugh!! I still have to follow her." He suddenly remembered and headed to her home. It was getting even more stressful for him—not being able to sleep. He had to be up at night and day, just for her.

"I'm home." Ashlee entered inside, sensing her Uncle's car was in front of the house. She quietly entered and saw her Uncle on the sofa, snoring like an animal. Fortunately, without making a noise, she went up to her room, grabbing her clothes as she quietly turned on the shower.

A mirror is known to be the true reflection of your own self. With those mature and painful thoughts, she stood in front of the mirror, eyeing her naked self up and down.

"They are almost healed. I don't think marks will remain this time either." She spoke to herself, tracing the wounds that were now closed. There wasn't any blood, thankfully, and her face had recovered in just one night.

It has always been a mystery to everyone how her wounds get healed so fast without leaving marks or rashes. She felt blessed to be like that, but is she really blessed?

She took her time in the shower. After so much time, she could take a good shower without anyone interrupting her. Otherwise, she would leave as soon as possible due to the fear of her Uncle watching her.

As soon as she stepped out of the shower, she heard a thud downstairs. What the hell was that? Quickly grabbing her clothes and hugging them to her body, she ran to the sound to see if anyone was hurt.

Her soul left her body, watching her Uncle fighting a massive wolf. What the hell? What creature is this? She stopped in the middle of the stairs as the creature stared at her.

Her hair was still dripping from the hot water. She bit her lip, trying to hold back. The wolf tried hard to get through her, but couldn't. Something was surely stopping him from reading her mind. But how could he not even send a message link to his own mate?

"Get out of here, you bastard." Her Uncle banged a wooden log at his back, which roughly took him down, hurting him immensely. He squinted his eyes shut with the pain.

Out of nowhere, Ashlee got worried. She looked at her Uncle, who was ready to throw another blow, and she ran to save him.

"Stop it." She stood in front of him, defending the growling wolf.

"Get out of here. I need to kill that motherfucker!!" Her Uncle pushed her away from his shoulders, making her fall harshly to the ground with a thud.

"I will kill you today. How dare you?" Ricardo shouted, forcing another blow. But before he could touch him, the wolf bit him harder on his wrist, almost trying to take off his whole arm.

Ashlee got up, trembling on her feet. She saw the wolf biting her Uncle and went to save him too.

"Stop it." She yelled with any energy she was holding on.

The wolf stopped. Her Uncle cried in pain, falling to the ground. The wolf looked into her eyes with those deep, red glowing orbs. She knows those eyes. Is this for real? Is it really him? How could it be?

She just saw him today, and his eyes were normal. But still, why are they so similar? How is this even possible? How can a human be a wolf?

No matter how hard Kyle tried, he couldn't get through her mind or thoughts. He wanted to tell her it was him. He wanted her to trust him, to believe in him, but after what he just did, would she?

"Go away, please," Ashlee whispered loudly, shedding a stream of tears. Why is she crying?

Without any further questioning, Kyle left. He left her house but stayed nearby to see what was going to happen. Ashlee shook her head, confused by the thoughts of a human being a wolf, and went to her Uncle, helping him up onto the sofa.

Her Uncle just kept crying over his wrist. He won't be able to work anymore, and he would surely blame it on her.

"I think you should get it checked by some doctors," Ashlee suggested. She was just being sincere, not mocking him.

"How did you do that?" His Uncle's calm tone was the scariest one. He was surprised by how the wolf listened to her and left.

"Wh...What did I do?" Ashlee stuttered, knowing something worse was coming her way.

Ricardo huffed with an evil grin. "You don't know what you did? You little bitch!!" He got up and slapped her across her face. She stumbled but managed to keep herself from falling.

"Once I find out what's going on, believe me, I won't be as easy on you." He grabbed her hair and pulled her head roughly, making her wince back in pain.

"I really don't know what you are talking about," she said, clutching onto his hand so that he would leave her hair.

"You will once I know what you are. You wench. Don't you think anyone would be able to save you from my hands? EVER." He whispered the last word clearly in her ear.

However, Kyle was watching everything from across the window. He wanted to rip off that man right there. He would have, only if Ashlee hadn't come down that fast. Her Uncle would have been dead by now.
