"What the hell are you doing, Kyle?" Ashlee muttered, gritting her teeth, annoyed by his behavior. He just smiled and ignored every word she said, as if he couldn't even hear her.
"Your girlfriend?" Crista huffed, rolling her eyes. "Well, if it's like that, then you should know your girlfriend is a 'teacher whore.'" Crista laughed with her minions beside her.
Kyle's expression didn't change a bit. He kept smiling as he walked over to her, dragging Ashlee along with him, while Ashlee kept trying to stop him from making a scene.
"I think I just made myself clear. Didn't you hear me?" Kyle smirked, looking at Crista's hopeless face as her boyfriend came to defend her.
"Man, calm down. You can't talk to my girlfriend like that." Scott tried to push Kyle, but he couldn't even budge him.
Kyle chuckled. "My girl is more important than your bitch. Keep her in line, or I might lose it all." Kyle clearly warned him and Crista, with a stern, serious look on his face.
He grabbed Ashlee's things and dragged her out of the room, filled with gasps and shock. Everyone was stunned by what just happened. After walking for a while, Ashlee stopped when they were alone in the hallway, filled with silence.
"What the hell was that all about?" Ashlee almost freaked out at him. How could he just lie in front of everyone like that? How could he call her his girl?
"You tell me!" Kyle was even more frustrated by Ashlee not speaking up for herself. He knew she could fight and win against those stupid, trashy humans. But she just wouldn't.
"What? What did I do?" She asked, tilting her head slightly in confusion.
"You didn't do anything." He answered, his tone stiff.
"Yeah, and?" She asked, shrugging her shoulders, gesturing in a questioning manner.
"Don't you think that's exactly the problem here?" He asked her. She understood what he meant. Her words lost, she fell silent.
"Ashlee?" A voice behind Kyle caught their attention. Kyle immediately stiffened upon hearing the voice. He just wanted to punch the guy more than anything in the world.
"Mr. Harvey?" Ashlee replied, surprised by his entrance. Did he hear them?
"I... Can we talk for a moment?" He asked in an innocent tone, one that even a child could use. Ashlee was about to say yes when Kyle interrupted.
"You can talk to her here," Kyle spoke in a deep, cold voice.
Mr. Harvey awkwardly looked at Kyle and then at Ashlee. He sighed, knowing there was no way to talk to her alone. The most annoying thing for Kyle, besides Mr. Harvey confessing to her, was that he was young and seemed like a gentleman.
Which Kyle doubted he could ever be.
"I'm sorry about earlier, Ashlee. I know it's my fault and I should have defended you, but it hurts me too. To see you every day and not be able to make you mine," he pleaded, his tone trying to express his feelings.
Kyle scoffed, turning the other way. "Defend her? You don't even know her." He muttered to himself.
"You said something?" Mr. Harvey and Ashlee waited for him to repeat himself.
"No. Nothing. You guys may continue." He gestured with an annoyed smirk on his face.
"Ashlee, there's one thing you should know. I really like you. Not as a student, but as a girl. I've waited this long to tell you." He attempted to hold Ashlee's hand again.

This time Ashlee could sense something was off. She quickly stepped back, avoiding him. If he cared this much about her, he wouldn't have been repeating the same things he said the other day.
And if he had waited this long, he must have liked her even when she was just a kid. That would make him a pervert, rather than sincere.
Mr. Harvey chuckled. "I think I'm in love with you," he continued, again attempting to hold her hand.
This time, Kyle was watching closely. He was waiting for Ashlee to at least say something to defend herself, but she was as quiet as a stone statue.
"I know we would make a perfect couple," Mr. Harvey continued, ignoring Ashlee's attempts to avoid him.
"No, you are not." Ashlee finally spoke, jerking his hands away from her.
"What? What are you— Why are you saying that?" Mr. Harvey nervously giggled, attempting to touch her again.
Kyle grabbed him from behind and dragged him away from Ashlee. "She said no. And no means no. You of all people should understand that," he calmly and coldly warned him, trying to snap him back to his senses.
"No. She didn't. How can she? She loves me. She... is in love with me." Mr. Harvey was losing his mind over it. He was acting like a sick patient, but in Kyle's eyes, he was more of a perverted sicko who just wouldn't stay away from his mate.
"She is not in love with you. Leave her alone." Kyle grabbed Ashlee by the shoulder and pulled her in. "She is in love with me," he said, a complete white lie. She didn't even like him, and 'in love' wasn't a word to describe their strange relationship.
"What?"
"What?"
Ashlee and Mr. Harvey both breathed at the same time. Kyle gulped and stayed still with his words. He wasn't going to deny it, and surely, Ashlee shouldn't either.
"No, she can't be." Mr. Harvey still wasn't convinced. Somehow, it sounded strange for a teacher to force love on his student.
"I'm afraid it is like that." Kyle said, awkwardly smiling, while Ashlee kept trying to pull away from him.
"No! She's mine. Only mine." Mr. Harvey rushed to Ashlee and accidentally scratched her arm. He was stopped by Kyle. His behavior was getting out of hand now.
Hearing the screams and shouting, other students also came out to see the scene. Ashlee stood behind Kyle as Mr. Harvey went wild on his own.
"Mr. Harvey!" The secretary, who had been looking for Ashlee earlier, came rushing with two security guards. The guards took over Mr. Harvey from Kyle while he kept screaming that Ashlee was his.
Ashlee's eyes didn't leave him as he was dragged out of the school. She was disappointed to see the only person she thought was nice wasn't nice at all. Instead, he was a total psychopath.
"Are you okay?" Kyle carefully traced Ashlee's scratch. She didn't even wince and just kept her eyes on the scene, lost in her thoughts.
"You need to come to the principal's office with me, Miss Ashlee." The secretary said, peeking behind Kyle.
"Can I come along?" Kyle asked, and the secretary nodded. Both Ashlee and Kyle followed her to the office.
"Mrs. Harrold." The secretary knocked on the door and entered inside, asking Ashlee and Kyle to wait outside for a moment.
Kyle saw Ashlee's frowning face and sighed, standing against the wall. "It wasn't your fault," he whispered, looking at her adorably.
"I know." She replied without bothering to glance at him.
"Why are you sad, then?" He asked, curiously straightening up.
"He was a good person," she replied, holding back the sobs. She wanted to cry and give up.
"He left you alone the whole time. He wasn't even defending you, and he kept rumbling nonsense about liking you and loving you. You still think he was a good person? Where's your mind at?" He asked, frustratedly.
"...." Ashlee didn't reply to that and lowered her head, rubbing her scratch gently, holding herself together.
"You are so annoying sometimes," Kyle muttered, and out of nowhere, he embraced her in his arms. Gently, he stroked her head, hearing her soft sobs.
She pressed her face into his chest and let it all out. His heart ached as he sensed her pain. He wanted to always protect her and keep her happy, but he realized it wasn't an easy job.
Still, he wouldn't give up.
"Calm down," he whispered, resting his head softly on hers.
"Why do people keep leaving me?" She sobbed even more, clutching onto him tightly. Her endurance was something else. How could an ordinary person hold on for so long?
"Shh!!" Kyle rubbed her back, stroking her. "I won't leave you. Ever," he whispered.
After a few minutes, she stopped crying, pulled away from him, and looked him in the eyes with her puffy, messed-up orbs. She felt sincerity and saw the promises in his eyes. The same things she had seen in her father's eyes when she was small.
"Why? Why are you with me?" She asked, as innocently as a small child would. Her innocence was beyond explanation.
'Because you are my mate,' his wolf repeated in his head, but those words didn't come out of his mouth.
"So that I can be your safest place, where you can be yourself," he muttered, all sincerity in his voice, melting her heart.
"I'm not that important, you know." She whispered, biting her lower lip.
"Yes, you are." He breathed in a grave voice.
