Kal awakened to agony, he had survived the fall but barely. He opened his eyes to find he was on his back looking up into the swirling clouds of fire and darkness. He tried to move but his broken body wouldn’t let him. He checked his status even though he knew what he would see.

Hey, it was better than he expected his health was two and not one. Now, how the hell am I going to recover from this? The hostile mana had completely stopped its assault against him at least, the place still felt dangerously hot but it wasn’t going to kill him, at least not like before. Kal opened his full status to take a look at his gains before he tried moving again. Nothing had come to kill yet so he thought he probably had time.

Soul Forge [Corrupt]
Wait, what is Wrath? Kal had only just noticed the change. Was this what happens when you forcefully replace your Mystical Energy with something else? He shrugged mentally not risking more pain. Who cares? He had finally ascended, after nine years of failure he had almost given up but in just over a week since meeting Melisia he had done it and even scored an Epic class. No, he just needed to try and survive so he could enjoy his efforts. He suspected his new titles were what allowed him to survive the fall, even if just barely. He concentrated on each of them and read their descriptions.
Ascendant [Mythic]
Your defiance of fate has pushed you beyond the frail capabilities you were destined for. Walk towards the infinite Ascendant, Walk towards a fate of your choosing. +10% All Attributes.
Core Smith [Epic]
You have weaved the Astral Threads and created the most simple of cores. Hone your craft and forge the fate of all. +10% Perception, Will, Intellect.
Planeswalker [Rare]
You have crossed the boundary between planes. May you forever walk the Astral Ways. +5% All Attributes.
If he didn’t hurt so much he would have cheered. He wondered if Ascendant normally gave that much of a bonus to a person’s attributes, he had never heard of the title having a mythic rarity either. The description of Core Smith made him wonder if it would scale if he practiced making more cores, he would have to try that later. He panicked a little when he read Planeswalker. Of course, he realized that he was stuck in some other world but he had no time to worry about that now. One step at a time Kal. He decided to take a look at the comparison table to see what exactly had increased, but then he realized he still had attribute points to distribute. At the thought, a small menu appeared showing that he had six free points to spend. Looking at his current condition he didn’t think for very long before dumping all the points into his Vitality. Sure he would love to have invested in Strength instead but he needed to survive that to be worth it. When he confirmed his investment he immediately felt a small rush of energy spread away from his core and throughout his body. It didn’t heal him but he could tell it had helped. After the sensation faded he opened the comparison table and compared himself to the last time he checked.

Kal laughed then grunted as his ribs creaked. It was insane, he had gained fifty-three points including the percentage bonuses in just a few hours. His Health and Stamina had increased dramatically. Yep, the titles were definitely the only reason he was still alive. He looked over his status one more time and noticed he had a notification.
Select Class Skill:
Wrathful Strike [Common]
Wrath Incarnate [Common]
Wrathful Regeneration [Common]
Kal immediately opened the selection menu and started reading through each description. He had forgotten about his skill choice after everything that had happened. Maybe there was something that could help him now. He started from the top with Wrathful Strike.
Wrathful Strike [Common]
A Slayer wields their Wrath in many forms, this is just a first step. Channel your Wrath through your weapon and cleave your enemies asunder. Increase melee attack potency by a small amount. Scales evenly with Strength and Will.
It sounded like it would be incredibly useful when he got into another fight, but it sounded like he needed a weapon for it to work. He moved on to the next skill.
Wrath Incarnate [Common]
A Slayer’s Wrath is as much a physical presence as it is a mental state. Empower your form with your Wrath and wade through the masses unimpeded. Increases all attributes by 20% for a short time at the cost of Wrath. If your Wrath is exhausted it will instead use three times more Health. Cost scales downward with Will.
Now this one sounded really good, and he suspected it had something to do with when his Birthright was acting up. It could probably help him get to somewhere safer than laying out in the open and it clearly had massive combat potential. But he moved on to the final skill already figuring he would end up choosing it.
Wrathful Regeneration [Common]
A Slayer never stops until the last enemy is dead. Use your accumulated Wrath to heal your wounds. May the blood of your foes fuel you. Amount healed per Wrath spent scales with rarity. Speed of healing scales with Vitality.
Yeah, it was really the only choice he could make right now, he would have preferred to pick Wrath Incarnate but he really needed to recover and figure out how he could get home. He made his choice and he felt the skill manifest in his core space as a thread before it quickly merged with his core. He had only ever activated Identify but he figured it would work the same. He willed the skill to activate and he felt a painful burning radiate from his core. It hurt, a lot, but he could feel it slowly working his burned and lacerated skin slowly knitting back together and his broken bones moving back into place. He checked his status just in time to see his Wrath run out.

He was a little disappointed when he saw that it only healed him twenty-two points, but he could tell that it had healed him enough to let him get moving. He sat up, everything still hurt but at least his bones were all in one piece now. He looked around at his surroundings. It was a gods damned hellscape just like many of the old myths he had heard about while he was still growing up with his family. The sky was a literal inferno of red and black flames and the terrain around him was an endless wasteland dotted with dagger-like mountains and deep canyons. Off in the distance, probably around ten miles away though it was hard to tell in this place, Kal could see a large column of light that seemed to pierce down from the sky before it touched down on the surface. It was too far away for him to see any more detail than that but he decided that once he had healed up some more he would take a closer look. He started walking, well it was more like a shuffle but he slowly made his way towards an outcropping of black stone. He found a relatively hidden spot in a large crack in the stone before he collapsed back into a seated position, his back resting against the rock. Kal checked his status again hoping to reactivate his Wrathful Regeneration only to find that his Wrath hadn’t increased at all. “How in the hell am I supposed to use the skill if the resource doesn’t regenerate?” he shouted, as scowled at the display. He sat there fuming for a moment, then a sharp pain lanced through his head.
“Ah, what was that?” Kal looked down to see a small rock had fallen down from above him. The moment he recognized it he threw himself to the side just in time to avoid two clawed hands striking down at him from above. Kal rolled away smashing his side on a loose time in the process, but managed to get to his feet and get a look at the creature that attacked him.
[Kuroxet | Abyss Spawn 6]
The thing was disgusting it looked a lot like the things that came out of the tear but it was much smaller only about two feet tall but it still looked just as deadly its mouth was full of needle-like fangs and its claws were almost long enough to graze the ground as it landed on the ground in front of Kal. It hissed, spraying a dark red liquid onto the ground. The ground immediately began to sizzle as the fluid dissolved the dirt and stone. Kal’s health had increased a bit but not enough to make him feel confident here. The last creature he actually fought was that damn ghoul and he had barely survived that. The kuroxet stopped hissing and tilted its head slightly, looking Kal up and down. Then the damned thing spoke.
“Fooood livesssss?” the kuroxet hissed, its voice a harsh rasping sound.
Kal was shocked that the bloody thing could speak but if it meant it wasn’t going to attack again he would play along, “Not food, but yes I live.”
Kal eyed the creature carefully but it simply continued its inspection. Tilting its head back and forth irregularly, its claws by its sides. It stood like that for several moments so Kal decided to speak again.
“Where am I?” Kal asked, but what he got in response raised the hairs on his neck. The creature bent its body backward to face the sky and screamed, the sound almost deafened Kal. The scream continued but Kal moved ignoring his aching ears, and kicked the creature as hard as could in the chest. The cry ended as quickly as it came as Kal felt several of the creature's ribs shatter with the impact and before it could get back up charged in and started slamming his fist into its monstrous head. He kept punching until the kuroxet stopped moving, its face a bloody mess of broken bone and flesh. Kal fell back to the ground, his Stamina bottoming out due to not fully recovering beforehand. He felt the rush of power wash over him as he gained experience for the first.

Kal was about to cheer, but then he heard it. All around he could hear identical screams to the one the kuroxet he had just killed made. He staggered to his feet and climbed a part of the stone he was hiding behind. He looked out across the wasteland, “Fuck!” everywhere he looked he could see more of the fucking things. His Birthright had been quiet until now, but it was beginning to stir. He couldn’t fight all of them, he had to run. He flung open his status and put three points in Agility, and Endurance, he figured he would be needing both of them soon. He checked his resources and saw that he had gained some Wrath sixty points to be exact. He quickly activated his Wrathful Regeneration and staggered at searing pain but felt it heal him just as before. Kal looked for the thinnest area to run towards and started running, as he did he checked his resources one last time.
