Kal relaxed slightly as his wrath slowly decreased from the effects of Cloak of the Wrathful Spectre but kept himself facing away from Nyx and Ander. While his wrath was above his stamina max the dark thoughts still made themselves home in his mind. Kal still urged to turn and fight but he kept his will clamped on his mind.
He could feel his message stone vibrating for several seconds before he let out a slow, calm breath and turned around.

His eyes widened slightly at the increase in his attributes but surprise became concern when he saw the change in his race tab, “What does it mean by neutral?”
Then a sudden weight slammed down on his chest as a notification appeared.

An instant before Kal felt stronger than he had ever been then he felt suddenly weak. Grimacing, he looked at his attributes again.

Kal panicked for an instant when he saw his will fall to six-hundred-and-fifty-nine, causing his stamina to plummet well below his current wrath but the panic faded when he felt nothing. Kal’s mind was still flailing from what had just happened.
His wrath dropping low enough to risk dropping Cloak of the Wrathful Spectre he released it.
Nyx looked wary but surprisingly Ander was grinning, “That was so cool! Those demons didn’t even stand a chance! The way you threw that sword and, and! Wow!”
Kal probably would have chuckled at the boy's demeanor but he couldn’t help but think about the thoughts that ran through his head when he had woken up, “Broken thing… Corpse…” Not only that, Kal knew Ander had felt it. Felt what was coming even though he didn’t seem like it now.
“When you fell I thought you died,” Nyx said, her voice low, “But when we didn’t get overwhelmed with foreign mana I thought something else must have happened.”
Kal shook his head, “I’m sorry. I don’t really know what happened but I met a few people I suppose are your elders,” He grunted, “Though I don’t think they enjoyed the experience.”
Nyx looked visibly confused but shook her head and smiled, “In any case, I’m glad you ok.”
Kal frowned, he could feel the question she wanted to ask hanging in the air but he didn’t want to think about it right now so he let it die.
“We should keep moving. Were they survivors, or a patrol?” Kal asked and started walking towards Exterminator’s Regards.
“A patrol. You were unconscious for over an hour. I tried to move you but… It was difficult…” Nyx said, her tone cautious.
“My fear aura?” Kal assumed it was because he was heavy…
She nodded, “Yes. When you fell it was much worse. It was difficult to get close to you.”
Kal shook his head in anger at himself but didn’t comment, “If they sent one patrol they will send another, especially now that one anchor is down.”
They arrived at the mess of dead felflame scions. Half of them were bisected by his sword and most were pincushioned with arrows. Since they were walking by, Nyx started retrieving arrows while Kal resheathed his blade and scanned the skies.
Ander didn’t like being among the so brutally killed judging by the look on his face and Kal didn’t blame him. At the same time however Kal wasn’t going to hide the truth of battle from the kid. With the things he had seen and the things Fyborh had asked of him Kal had no illusions of a peaceful future. Quotz had said Dhinir was moving against his family. If that was true Kal only saw one thing happening in the future.
While Nyx gathered up as many arrows as she could Kal went through a few of the notifications he either missed or just didn’t comprehend as he returned from whatever it was he and Dalen did.

Unbound WIll Detected: Restarting High Resonance Communication.
Warning: Unity and Tier levels are dangerously low and may cause severe core damage to Core-Bound [Dalen Kreet] if contact is maintained.
This part Kal remembered but still didn’t fully understand. Kal had no idea how the core-bound follower part came about but he suspected that was the reason he had both seen and heard Dalen over the last few weeks. Eventually leading to whatever ‘High Resonance Communication’ was.
Once more it was clear that his Unbound Will ability had given him more than the system felt like explaining to him. He hoped Dalen was alright. The healer Volan was there at the end, hopefully he was able to do enough to keep Dalen alive.
Kal wondered for a moment if he had made the right choice. His memory of the experience was choppy at best but remembering the hammer about to smash Dalen’s face in erased any doubt he had.
He would have to discuss these ‘elders’ with Nyx soon. Not just one but two order members had attacked Dalen. They had paid for it but it only made Kal trust The Order of the Crimson Dawn less.
Next Kal quickly went over his new titles.
Defier of Dhinir [Unique]
Your defiance of the god of conquest will be your undoing, that at least is what the sheep will say. May you forever spit in the eye of dominion and his lackeys. +10% Will, +10% Endurance, +10% Strength.
Title Upgraded: Defier of Dhinir [Unique] => Divine Deviant [Mythic]
You have both denied the gods and survived a divine petition. May your potential match your hubris. +15% All Attributes.
Kal felt a little down on the change of his first title’s name. It had been his first step along his current path and the first clue about his past. Kal vaguely remembered bits and pieces of words suggesting there was a petition like when he had fallen into Fyborh’s resting place but when he looked back through his log he couldn’t find anything about it.
Obviously he couldn’t complain about the across the board increase to his attributes, it was just a shame it was only a five percent increase to his strength, endurance and will.
Kal was interested in the next two titles since they both included resonance in the name so he assumed their description might help him understand what actually happened earlier. And well they didn’t, “What the fuck?”
Resonance of Wrath [Epic] [Corrupted] [ERROR]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +10% Strength, Vitality, and +2% Unity
Resonance of Freedom [Epic] [Corrupted] [ERROR]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +10% Agility, Wisdom, and +2% Unity
Both were corrupted and didn’t give him a description. At least they gave him the attributes anyway but he would have preferred some bloody information.
Kal sighed and closed his status before withdrawing the Monocle of Post-Scrying. He selected the second recorded location and held it to his eye.
The second anchor was in a similar location to the first but this time the structure remained intact. Kal wondered if the building itself had any relation to abyssal anchors or if they just happened to appear there. Perhaps they weren’t connected to each other exactly but it was the location itself that encouraged a fortification to be built there and the same reason caused abyssal anchors to manifest there.
Behind Enemy Lines
An abyssal anchor has been destroyed and additional points for participation have been awarded.
Abyssal anchors established: 1
Time until tear opening: 3 days 9 hours 46 minutes.
The third anchor still wasn’t established so they had some time to deal with the next one but Kal suspected the second wouldn’t be so easy. There hadn’t been any survivors that could return to the Shadow Lord but with one anchor down there was no doubt in Kal’s mind that the next one would be far more heavily defended.
“Alright. Let’s go. I don’t know how far away the next one is but in any case, if we want to deal with it we need to get there before they reinforce it,” Kal said.
Nyx nodded after yanking one last arrow out of a scion's forehead, “I’m ready.”
Ander yawned,”....Me… too!...”
Kal picked the boy up and onto his shoulders then activated Cloak of the Wrathful Spectre. He wasn’t thrilled about charging toward another anchor with his lowered attributes from his spirit fatigue but at any moment the third anchor could be established, dropping the time to just hours.
Kal brought his perception inward and continued the work on Wrath Incarnate as they ran across the harsh metallic terrain. He needed his strength back sooner rather than later but as usual there was always a fucking timer…
----------------------------------------
Dalen opened his eyes to utter darkness. His body burned all over oddly cold and hot at the same time. He tried to sit up but found his body didn’t obey his commands, instead it just hurt more.
His chest was the worst though. It burned as if a red hot stake had been driven into his heart and every beat of the puncture muscle sent fire through his veins.
“What the fuck happened?...”
A notification flashed before his eyes, its coloring a mix of gold, red, and silver.
Title acquired! A Binding of Fate [Mythic]
You have called upon the power of another and channeled it through yourself and lived to tell the tale. +10% All attributes.
Dalen’s pained eyes widened at the title and he started coughing agonizingly as he accidentally laughed at the site of it, “Holy shit! Was that what happened?”
Dalen had a vague memory of Kal speaking to him again but Dalen was busy shouting abuse at a fucking hammer. What the fuck was wrong with him? It was like all the anger he had ever felt just felt like saying hello and decided to come out and scream at people.
Apparently, someone heard Dalen wheezing since a moment after he managed to stop a dim light flickered to life in the room and Dalen managed to turn his head far enough to see Volan surrounded by at least a dozen other healers.
The old man smiled, “Excellent!” He turned his back into the hall behind him, “Everyone. The prophet has awoken!”
If Dalen could he would have given the old man the finger but before he could even try one more notification appeared.
