Chapter 81: Purple Spots

Day 11

James Thornbulton worked most of the night making the wizard’s test. He was hoping not to die. Also, he was looking for an escape route. But escaping a flying ship had challenges.

The wizards apprentice Gizer woke James up. But James was not feeling so good, not just because he hadn’t slept much but a stomach ache. He also had floating feeling.

“Ooh” Gizer said “You are not looking good my friend. Up! Up! We must do the test before you die.”

“No.” James said “I will not do the test for you if I am going to die. I help you, and I live and go free without any delays or experiments.” James burped what tasted like rotten egg and had a green colour.

“Errrrrrrr” he groaned.

Gizer jumped up and down.

“Do the test! I can’t save you.”

James lay back down, well he meant to lay down but he was floating, so he floated above his bed horizontally.

That’s going to be a problem. Gizer thought.

He started digging through James’ things looking for the test. He found a drawing from a child and the royal seal from the queen.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Gizer went pale. He ran with the seal to the captain.

“Captain, captain” he squealed.

“What are you waking me up so early for?” the captain barked.

“A royal seal, I found a royal seal on James. We must dump him in the woods make it look like animals killed him.”

“Kill him!” the captain said.

“The queen will hunt us down forever if he is dead. We will release him with gifts and plead for our lives!”

“Captain the translator elixir is having a bad effect on him. He is dying! Come see!”

The captain ran in his johns to James’ room trying to put a shirt on.

They both stared as James groaned about his stomach and floated above his bed.

“Fix him!” the captain barked.

“You made him drink it” Gizer said trying to cover himself.

“As if the queen will care.” Hork snarled “Fix him!”

“I don’t know how?” Gizer admitted.

“We need a healer.” Hork was captain because he was quick and has A LOT of self-preservation.

“Set course for a healer. Someone who can heal magic gone bad!” he barked while putting pants on.

The ship changed direction and sped up. It went as fast as Gizer could make it go. They came to the City Ti.

Men went to retrieve a healer. But an old woman was brought aboard.

“Can you heal him?” They asked.

James now had purple spots all over his body as if his skin was polka dots.

“Oh my,” the women said “This needs magic, not herbs.”

They through her off.

They then rushed to the next place and requested a healer. A man was brought on board.

“What is that?” he asked looking at James “I heal men not animals.” He added

“That is a man!” Captain Hork snarled.

So, they through him off too.

“Who has magic that can heal this guy?” Hork asked the crew.

“He heard that a man living in the mountains of Zig can counter act magic. But a drunk told us this.” A brave crew mate spoke up.

So, they went to the mountains of Zig. The windy snow-capped mountains hid everything from view.

James was now all purple. He stopped floating, now it was like he became very heavy.

“Please be real” Gizer prayed.

They called and searched the snow and mountains for anyone, but no one was to be found.

“What if we dump his body here?” a crew member suggested.

“It will not make a difference.” Hork said feeling the end nearing “We have failed and we will all die and everyone we know and everyone we share blood with whether we know them or not and everyone who we have spoken to in the past two days.”

The captain sighed feeling defeated.

“Set a course for the castle. Maybe if we turn ourselves in our families will be spared.”

They headed for the castle.
