Day 7
Viola Stone the captive of the amazons was as expected, unhappy with her current situation. The queen of the women Kaneeda didn’t like her and the feeling was mutual.
Viola had been forced to stay as a guest one more day.
This day went as follows:
Viola was rudely woken up by Blinkx who was clearly an early riser and lacked bedside manner. The girl of about twelve had grabbed her arm and literally pulled her off her cot onto the floor and then with a smile said
“Oh, good you’re awake”
Then she was dumped in cold, freezing cold water and dressed.
Viola felt that her privacy has been violated.
The new clothes were however nice.
Then she was walked, or dragged around by the arm from one girl to the next.
Each so eager to show her why they like it here and all the stuff they had collected. These children were a lot stronger than they appeared to be.
After the trip around the tree camp. She was given grubs, live wriggling grubs for breakfast. She preferred it when she didn’t know what she was eating.
A hunting party headed out and Viola tried to get a place on it but it didn’t work. Her hopes of escaping were shot down.
However, her clutch purse was recovered which made the late morning a little brighter.
But after spending the next two hours putting lipstick on girls and showing them their reflection in her mirror it stopped feeling like a good thing.
Then while showing the girls there faces and their faces with lipstick on, bad news reached the camp. Viola was dragged before the queen once again.
“My hunters have been captured. Za’atar, Sage, Celeriac and Cassia. Do you know where they would have been taken?”
Viola found this unbelievable. She had been there, with them, so how would she possibly know anything about it? It had been established that she was from another world called earth.
So how on earth would she know?
Viola felt rage towards Kaneeda.
“I don’t know.” She forced in a nice tone
“Do you not have trackers that could find them?”
Kaneeda looked though her. She then turned to her worried sisters.
“We will destroy this enemy of ours. We will grind their bones for soup.”
Viola found herself wondering if she had been fed people?
“We will break up into groups of five and we will attack in waves. Get your weapons.”
“What about the new girls?” Viola asked knowing it was a bad idea.
Kaneeda instructed “If you haven’t been trained stay here with Ginger. Viola you will come with us.”
Well, that saved her having to ask but she really didn’t want to go along this time.

She suited up. The afternoon sun was glorious and its yellow glow reflected off the leaves and made everything look pretty. But she knew nothing in this world was pretty.
Kaneeda, Dakota, Viola, Blinkx and Willow made the first team.
The second team was Chicory, Olive, Berbere, Shanti and Rue.
These two teams worked together and so, it continued, teams of five working together in teams of two.
Viola was taken into a small village were people looked at them funny and some were even stupid enough to spit at them. This single and foolish act cost them their life.
These women were looking for a fight and if the villagers wanted one then they would get one.
Viola kept apologizing as they went but it really didn’t make anything better.
They tracked their people to a stable.
There the four women were. Tied up and gagged. It seemed to ease to Viola, and it was.
A group of seven burly men walked into the stable behind them.
“Well, well, what do we have here?” one without front teeth said.
“Beautiful women, built for work.” Another answered.
Viola quickly untied the captive women while Kaneeda lead the fight.
It was a blood bath. The second wave of amazons arrived and so it seemed to be over.
But then the villages took up arms against them. Accusing them of bring trouble on them.
Viola tried to avoid fighting with the villagers when a dragon, dropped out of the sky.
She fell back speechless. Everyone stopped even Kaneeda dropped her weapon.
A man climbed off the dragon.
“What is this about?”
His calm voice made everyone more uneasy.
Kaneeda stepped forward.
“That’s far enough” he said.
“My sisters were taken by the men who are now dead in the stables. The villages turned on us for freeing them.”
“Is this true?” he asked the village.
“They killed soldiers of the queen. Now more will come and we will be blamed.”
Viola looked at the dragon that was looking back at her. She was brave normally and considering the week she had, had, her shaking was understandable.
The man went into the stable and the dragon moved closer to Viola as if it wanted to sniff her.
But to her it was more like, it saw lunch and she was it. She closed her eyes a tear ran down her face.
“Those men are not the queen’s men” he said triumphantly.
“Part ways and if you have a need. Remember the Dragon Riders are here for you.”
He mounted the dragon and flew away. He hadn’t even noticed her. Viola was paralyzed with fear.
Kaneeda extended a hand to Viola but she couldn’t even reach for it.
Finally, she puked.
“First time seeing a dragon?” Blinkx asked.
Viola nodded still speechless.
“It’s my second time. One day I am going to bond with a Dragon Rider.” Blinkx said.
Kaneeda froze as if she was now the one seeing a dragon for the first time.
“You want to bond?” she chocked.
“Well only if you say I may” Blinkx said.
The others come out in the waves as planned and they were overjoyed that everyone was alright.
But Kaneeda’s face killed their joy and the happy moment ended abruptly.
“Who else wishes to bond with a man?” she asked.
No one could tell if this was a real question or a rhetorical one.
Viola piped in
“Maybe if you raise a boy right and make him a good man. Your sisters may bond and never be betrayed.”
No, she couldn’t leave it alone, not even when she could see Kaneeda was outraged.
“That would be nice” Rue said hopefully.
Kaneeda realized that she was now the one who needed to change.
She loved her sisters and she hated men. So much so that she denied them the chance of having children. Her sisters filled this need. Saving girls from the evil grasp of men. But maybe her sisters needed more?
“The boys can stay.” she said with bitterness
“Keep them away from me.” She added.
They went back into the forest leaving Viola on the streets of the village alone.
She was at first so relieved and then concerned. But this feeling hadn’t fully taken hold when Kaneeda come back and punched her in the face. Viola fell to the ground again.
“That’s for messing everything up, we were happy.”
“You mean, you were” Viola answered holding her face.
Viola never knew when to shut up with Kaneeda. Her remark was met with a kick. Viola felt her body wrap around her foot and then straighten back into place. She coughed and gasped air battling to breathe. Kaneeda just walked away.
Since she was now able to read and speak the language. Which by the way was still freaking her out a bit. It meant she could ask for directions.
The City Point was three days away. Or on the other side of the forest. The forest which Kaneeda lived in. She asked if there was a faster way to get to the city and someone jokingly said
“If you have a need, remember the Dragon Riders.”
Viola chose the forest. She wanted to find her sister and then leave this crazy world behind her. She walked into the forest. It was getting darker as she went deeper. She started talking to herself to try settle her nerves. Her talking however got the attention of a mountain bear. But her talking also got the attention of her tree hugging friends.
Blinkx followed from high above watching Viola awkwardly making her way through the forest. She liked Viola and she was happy that a bond mate would be raised for her. Or at least she was happy about the idea.
Viola was sore. She dodged a spider’s web just to stand in bear scat. This was possibly one of the worst days ever. Finally, she made it to the river. She drank and tried to find a place to cross. It was more difficult than she remembered. She walked down the river looking for a way to cross. Finally, she found one. Several large stone protruded out of the water. She could jump from one to the other.
As she stepped onto the first stone, she heard the bear roar.
Viola looked over her shoulder. A bear stood about three meters away from her. It grunted and moved closer.
Viola turned to jump to the next stone when she heard a cry from the bear. She looked to see Blinkx. She had thrust a big spear through the bear. It grunted and groaned.
Viola went from being afraid to feeling sorry for it.
Blinkx ended it quickly.
“I just took down a bear on my own.” She proudly stated.
“Yes, you did.” Viola said “Thank you.”
Blinkx just smiled. She then ran off to tell everyone about her big deal kill.
“Bye” Viola waved.
Viola jumped from one stone to another all the way across the river. It was night and the moon was big and bright, the stars sparkled making the gaps in the trees visible. She wasn’t going to stop. Even though she wanted to rest. She persisted, she was going to make it to the City Point and finally she did. However, she was so tired and it was so late that she slept in the stable with sheep.
She only noticed that the sheep had two tails and four eyes once the sun rose and she awoke.
