Apokolips Now! Part 2

Apokolips Now! Part 2

October 13th, 1995

General POV

Creed & Batman arrived to see Sinnott Air Force being attacked by Apokolips ships. Superman & Orion, the New God, were fighting off the ships. Batman started moving the plane to help them when Creed stopped him.

“They can handle that we have a meltdown to prevent,” Creed said. Batman glared, although agreeing. He opened the hatch.

“Alfred, take control. Tell him what we're doing when he’s done with the ships. You said you can fly, right?” Batman asked. Creed nodded, grabbing him by the arm, flying both of them off to the power plant.

“Ahhhh!” Superman yelled. One of the ships had him pinned down. It was electrocuting him with a tentacle.

BOOM.

A barrage of missiles hit the ship. Superman then managed to free himself. He then slammed the ship into the ground. Superman tore off the roof, saving the men inside before it exploded. After knocking the men out, he flew to the Batwing.

“Batman?” Superman asked, looking for his friend. He wanted to thank him for his assistance.

“I’m afraid not, sir. Master Bruce has gone to deal with another problem. Take this earpiece. Please finish up here quickly. The other matter is urgent.” Alfred stressed via the speaker system. Superman placed it in his ear, rocking off to save anyone in the area. Orion close by, shot down the other ship & then called out to Superman.

“This won’t end here. My father’s attacks are never this simple.” Orion warned.

“Batman to Superman. Orion thinks there will be another attack.” Superman called out via the earpiece.

“Supes, tell Orion to go get help from High Father. His father is coming. Earth can’t do anything to stop him. We need New Genesis to intervene. You go to the Planet. He’ll attack that place first.” Creed yelled as they rushed into the power plant. He used his techno powers to connect Jarvis and Friday to the servers. They could stop the explosion if he & Bruce kept Darkseid distracted long enough. The heroes burst into the room where Darkseid’s hologram and a henchman stood.

“You can’t do this. What about our deal.” The guy in a business suit screamed. He wasn’t supposed to be treated like the scientists they knocked out. Ten parademons boom tubed into the room, grabbing him. Darkseid’s hologram looked over at the intruders.

“You have outlived your usefulness, Mr. Mannheim. Farewell. Parademons depose of these pests.” Darkseid commanded.

“I’ll handle these guys. You get those people out.” Batman said, jumping into action. Creed used his Eagle Vision to find the scientists. He flew at top speed down to the basement. He placed them all in his Hypercube and asked Friday for an update.

“Boss, we managed to get the reactor stable again. Your new friend is getting overwhelmed. They still have explosives. We won’t be able to do anything if they manually set it off.” Friday explained.

“Okay, use the Microbots to drop these people into one of the boats. Take them to safety, then return with the cube. I’ll go assist Bats,” Desmond decided. He took out his Ultima Blade going back up. He saw Batman surrounded by the last three Parademons.

“Duck!” He yelled before tossing his blade at the one behind Batman. He rolled, slicing the other two heads off with his daggers. Batman gave him a look but nodded in thanks. The heroes turned their attention back to Darkseid.

“In the end, he was truly useless. Well, no matter. After I crush your defender's city, I will deal with you two.” Darkseid said, disappearing. Creed laughed with joy, confusing Batman.

“He said city, not the planet. We’ll only have to face a small contingent of his forces before the New Genesis bail us out.” Creed reminded him.

“Threatening to destroy a city is still a serious threat.” Batman countered, hopping into his Jet that had arrived. Creed sighed, following after him.

‘Why couldn’t he look at the bright side.’ Creed grumbled in his mind.

On the other side of the city, Superman was leading the effort for evacuation with the police. They had gotten most of the people out of the streets when a portal opened in the sky.

BOOM.

“Rejoice, I, Grayven, third son of Lord Darkseid, have come to claim this planet in his name.” Grayven, the muscular violet man, proclaimed on his hoverbike. An army of parademons flew out of the portal behind him.

Superman blasted off the ground into the hoard of enemies. His heat vision was destroying any parademon in his path. It was one against a hundred. Superman was holding them off regardless of their numbers. The man of steel being a one-man army alone. He valiantly held them off for twenty minutes before Grayven turned his full attention to him. As he saw his soldiers get beaten, took out a strange device to stop Superman.

“Father gave me this to deal with you, Kryptonian.” Grayven said as He hurled the device at him. It expanded into a net electrifying Superman. The Man of steel began to plummet towards the ground.

SLING.

“Sorry, we're late,” Creed said, breaking open the net along with catching his hero as the Batwing flew around, shooting parademons out of the sky. His face was boiling with anger under his mask. The city was getting run over by the parademons despite their efforts to evacuate everyone. Creed inwardly felt ashamed that Superman was doing all he could, but he was holding back. He ordered Jarvis to send in the Megabots to save people. No longer would he care if people knew there was another new tech wizard on earth. In any case, he wouldn’t directly order them to have some plausible deniability. He watched Superman take off to save more civilians before turning his attention back to Grayven. Creed took out his Ceremonial Staff and charged at him.

BAM.

Creed knocked the new god off his hoverbike down to the street below. He wanted to chase, but his Spider-Sense went off. Two Parademons were charging from the rear. He turned around, smacking both of them with his staff. Creed dodged again when his sense alerted him that a car door had been thrown at him. Mid-air, the new god appeared beside him, slapping him into a building before he could react.

CRASH!

“You’ll be my first kill on this planet,” Grayven yelled gleefully. As he landed, he sprinted right at his prey. Creed flipped back up. He threw a smoke bomb & vanished. Grayven jumped out, looking everywhere for him.

WHOOSH………WHACK!

Creed appeared out of nowhere at top speed, whacking him overhead with his staff.

Grayven immediately recovered, throwing a punch back at him. Creed side-stepped, hitting the New God again, but it did little damage.

Grayven & Creed then traded multiple blows back to back. Unfortunately, the staff's fire effect was barely hurting Gravyen. Creed was starting to feel pain from his hands. His strength was barely enough to keep up with him. Gravyen soon jumped back, holding up his hand.

ZEEM!

Creed got launched by an energy blast from Gravyen. He slammed into a nearby truck. Slowly getting back up, he decided to go all out.

‘I’ll have to use it. I hope Orion gets here before I’m out of energy.’ Creed concluded.

Creed sprinted at Gravyen, dodging the blasts he was sending with help from his senses. He was five feet away when he slid, entering close range. Right before the violet man punched him again, he vanished. Using his assassin Chameleon ability, he faked like he was going to attack with his staff. He instead threw all his smoke grenades into Gravyen’s eyes.

“Ahhhh! I’ll kill you!” Grayven screamed.

While the giant was dazed, Creed activated his Rage Mode skill.

SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK.

Creed moved at superhuman speed, his staff moving with a flurry, beating the crap out of Grayven. The new god fell down battered, burnt, and bruised. Creed stood triumphantly over him, though exhausted. Sadly his win was short-lived. A loud boom sounded behind him. He was too exhausted to move and was easily hit.

BANG.

Darkseid kicked him through two buildings. He also had a beaten-up Superman captive in a T-pose device.

“You pests are starting to annoy me,” Darkseid said, standing back on his floating disk. The parademons grabbed Gravyen boom tubing away. Everyone stopped fighting when they saw Darkseid. It was as if his presence demanded obedience. He overlooked the crowd, beginning a speech.

“Look around you humans. Your savior is shackled and broken. Your city is on the verge of ruin. I, Darkseid, Lord of Apokolips, Am power unlike any you have known. I’m absolute, infinite, and unrelenting. You have no choice but to prepare for your future lives as my slaves.” Darkseid said as if he had won. Elsewhere Creed was lying in a bunch of rubble.

“Multiple contusions detected. Fractured rib detected. Boss, you should see a doctor,” Friday recommended. He ignored her hearing Darkseid's words. This no longer felt like Darkseid was testing the waters. He was trying to strike fear in the heart of humanity. They had never seen their savior so beaten. Creed decided to go with his backup plan.

“Jarvis, bring me the black Hypercube. We're going with….” Creed stopped his order as he saw boom tubes opening up in the sky. He laid down with relief. Orion brought back up. New Genesis’s forces had finally arrived.

“Darkseid, High Father has decreed this planet is under his protection. Any further action will be seen as an act of war, breaking the peace treaty.” Orion said with an army of new gods behind him in the sky. At the same time, Batman saved Superman. Bruce put him on his shoulder. He was able to sneak up while Darkseid’s attention was focused on the new army.

“It is good to see you, my son. Very well, I won’t quibble over an insignificant speck in the universe. Superman, tell the one who beat Grayven that he, similar to you, is welcome to join my legion as a loyal vassal. This planet lives only because I would hate to ruin our reunion with bloodshed, my son.” Darkseid said. He looked one last time at Orion before boom tubing away with his forces. Before the last portal closed, Omega Beams flew out, destroying a building and killing Daniel Turpin. He was a close friend of Superman from the military.

“You won’t claim victory before me without a price.” Darkseid's voice boomed out before the last portal finally closed. The world stood still in shocked silence at Darkseid’s cruelty.
