Apokolips Now! Part 1

Apokolips Now! Part 1

October 12th, 1995

General POV

At midnight, a tall man quietly looked out from his balcony. His long black hair swayed slightly. He stared without expression at the ocean, watching the waves go by. He stayed that way for almost an hour until he heard a loud boom behind him.

“Why are you here, Kalibak?” The man asked, his eyes never leaving the ocean.

“My Lord has tasked me to inform you of his arrival,” Kalibak responded. The man gripped the balcony tight in rage.

“Does your lord wish to go to war with me? The terms of our agreement still have at least two more decades. I also doubt he’s found that thing. So why is he coming to earth?” The man demanded to know.

“My Lord will not break the agreement. He merely wishes to test earth’s so-called defender. He also wishes to see what the High Father thinks of your planet.” Kaliback laughed. This was all a game to him.

“Go back and tell your lord this. So long as he honors the agreement, I will care nothing for what he does to the heroes of this world. I will never take the High Father’s pity either. For only, I can protect this world as I have done for centuries.” The man boomed with authority. Kaliback smiled at his arrogance. He was happy at the man's agreement that he wouldn’t interfere.

“To your grateful partnership with the Lord,” Kaliback said, boom tubing away.

The man went back to watching the ocean. The look on his face back to expressionless. When the waves were calm later that night, he made a phone call.

“Leave tonight or stay in your tower tomorrow. The one I warned you of is coming!”. He hung up and went back to his rumination with the waves.

In Gotham, Bruce Wayne woke up in his manor. He had gotten a good night's rest for the first time in months. Gotham was oddly quiet last night. He went to the kitchen, where Alfred had already prepared his breakfast. As Alfred fixed his plate, a man appeared.

WHOOSH.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

“Oh, you made pancakes, Alfred. Grazie Amico Mio.” The mysterious man who appeared said. He was dressed in burgundy and gold robes with hints of black. (Isu Armor) The man grabbed a plate-like he owned the place.

“Master Bruce, a friend of yours?” Alfred questioned. Bruce gave his butler a look and focused back on his new guest.

“Why are you here? Here to give me another warning?” Bruce asked calmly. He got up causally from his seat to get something out of the fridge.

“Yup! By the way Bruce, the freezing bat-rang you're going for won’t hold me. Ah, I see Alfred’s smarter going for the knock-out gas & a gun. It still won’t work, but I’ll give you an A for effort. That’s way more practical than what Bruce was gonna try. You're supposed to be Batman & you’re getting outplayed by a man twice your age. Shame on you, Bruce.” The guest joked, lifting his mask to enjoy the delicious pancakes.

“Master Bruce, is he always like this?” Alfred asked, putting the gas & gun down.

“This is the second time I've met him. No more games. Tell me why you’re here.” Bruce demanded.

“All right, Bats, we have a tiny problem. Someone who can easily kick our mutual friend's ass is coming to earth. He plans to blow up a nuclear power plant that could affect the earth's core. He has a legion of demons at his disposal, and this is all something he’s doing to test the waters with another God. This whole thing was orchestrated at his whim.” Desmond responded in one breath. Once he was done, he went back to his pancakes.

“Surely you must be joking, Sir,” Alfred said. He desperately wanted it to be a lie.

“He’s not. He wouldn’t of come here if he was joking.” Bruce said, assessing the situation.

“10 points for Slytherin!” Desmond said, giving him a thumbs up and finishing his food.

“Serious. I assume you know when & where they're attacking. Let’s not waste time. We can make a plan on the way. What should we call you, by the way?” Bruce asked.

“Oh right, I still never made my superhero name. Hmmm? You can call me Creed. As for my secret identity, I expect the world’s greatest detective to figure it out.” Desmond said. After that, He waited for Bruce to gear up. They took the Batwing to Metropolis. On the way, he made a couple more purchases from the system.
