Turns out she was quite right. Our stop there was only for her to be notified of my stay and to prepare my lodgings. The main destination today turns out to be the library. Well not the main library, that is part of a prestigious academy in the inner city. The [guard] advised me to not go to the inner city since it is mostly for the nobility and wealthy and where the main administration of the city. There is no real restriction preventing the peasantry from entering it but it is common knowledge that unless you have actual business there, avoid it as the [guards] stationed there do not appreciate outsiders loitering around.
Anyways, this library was for the main public. You would not think that in a medieval like society that the commoners would not have easily access to any form of education but turns out the answer is the [System]. Many [Rulers] have territory management [skills] like those games on Earth. Certain infrastructure like libraries are classified by the [System] as so basic but also so integral that it is practically enforced. Others include city hall, basic housing, defense structures, market squares, and surprisingly the [adventurers'] guild. Plus libraries buff [skill] growth and [class] acquisition for the populace.
That last one is the very reason we are here. Or why I'm here, the [guard] left once she introduced me to one of the [librarians], meaning her job here was done.
After placing another book, labeled 'General Encyclopedia of [Class] Archetypes', on the table, Mrs. Elizabeth or just Elizabeth as she would like to be called said, "Here's another, now you can learn about all the [classes] out there if you study these books. Well besides the rarer or heavily specialized ones." She fixes some of her lose strands of greying purple hair back into its bun revealing more of the green scales on her cheeks. The [head librarian] and [class advisor] then asks, "Wait, are you literate yet, I heard some worlds prevent citizens from learning how to read and write."
"No, I can read and write." I responded, "Thankfully I'm not from that type of world, or at least not from that era. Actually where I'm from, it is required all children to go to school but is also expected of them to receive higher education once they graduate. I was actually still in college before I came here."
"Ok, good. Come to me if you need help or to just need to ask a question. I don't have classes to teach until the evening so I'm free most days if you come back for more information."
"Thanks."

After an hour or two, skimming through these various books revealed some of what I was expected, many fantasy classics like [Mages], [Druids], [Warriors], [Bards], [Paladins], etc. There are even [classes] that range anywhere from [Cultivators] from martial arts novels, to [Psychics], both the paranormal and the science fiction kind but also cutesy little [Magical Girls]. If you can get any [class] you want, it seems like I'm not the only earthling that came here.
The books even mention [classes] I don't even have context for at all, like the [Abstra] which allows people to act as conduits to channel pure concepts and emotions, imbuing then into objects. This seems like a quite popular choice for many [Artisans] so they can make magical items easier. Talking about [Artisans], there are many options for it too but I'm not interested in any of them. Making the same thing over and over again for a living does not call to me.

Well... none of them really calls to me. All I know is that I would love to do magic but I would never be able to memorize the arcane spells of [Wizards] nor have the appropriate devotion to use the holy miracles of [Priests].
I don't have any real rush to pick one right now. I'll just wait until I find one that speaks to me.

Over the course of the next couple days, I spent my days researching the library's collection of books that I'm allowed to access about the various [classes] I could acquire while spending my afternoons and nights helping out at the tavern. Despite my lack of luck in my search, this does not mean that there was no progress of any kind. I received these notifications at seemingly random moments throughout this week.
When I was carrying some plates and mugs to the kitchen while weaving between some rowdy, drunk customers.

Cats are known to be graceful I guess.
When leaving the library after a long day of research.

And the first one I saw was while I was going to bed on the second night here.

[Adaptability: 6]
That last one made me think how unusually fast I was adapting and getting used to it here.
I do miss my home but I'm not as homesick as I think I should be. Now thinking about home, the last thing I vaguely remember before coming here was that I was crossing the street... Wait, don't tell me I was Truck-kuned.

One night, one of the regulars and what I assume was a [laborer] of some kind had a little too much to drink at the bar and released the contents of his stomach on the side. I was assigned to clean it up with a mop, good thing most of it was beer and little chunks what is hard to believe was once food.
As I was figuring out how to mop up this filth, I overheard some [adventurers] boasting about their accomplishments in one of the corners of the room. While being in the corner, they were the center of attention with many of the patron creating a crowd around them.
Two of the party's members were standing on their table telling the tales of their adventures. At first, the one who had all eyes on them was a man dressed as some kind of [bard] or [minstrel] but currently the women in a red robe was the center of the stage.
While weaving a small fire the size of a candle flame through her fingers, the [fire mage] continue her story, "We were quite surprise by the ambush by the various simple beast mobs in the [dungeon's] second zone but while the rest of my party distracted, a [nymph] shot up out of the water behind me and tried to spread it pollen onto us. So in time I turned around and..." She thrusted her hand forwards and the small flame grew into a great blast like one of a flamethrower in the air above the crowd, "Burnt it to a crisp!"
There was barely anytime for the applause and cheers before they were interrupted by the kitchen door being crashed open.
"No damaging [skills] on the floor! If you burn this place down, I'll personally ensure you don't see the light of tomorrow!" [Madam] Rose yelled as she came bursting into the room.
Both castors immediately jumped off the table and meekly say, "Sorry Ma'am. It won't happen again Ma'am." simultaneously while bowing slightly.
"Good" [Madam] Rose says and turns back to the kitchen but before she leaves I commented, "Wow, did you see what she did, it was like she was firebending."
"Firebending, what's that, some kind of fire magic?" And then went through the door.
