Chapter 15

The procedures for joining the guild the next day was quite simple but long. At first I just had to wait in line then filled out a long form filling in practically all the information regarding me or at least my new life here. Currently I'm just waiting and waiting and waiting. They only have one assessment exam per day if they had it everyday, sometimes if it is slow or they are understaffed and have no one to commence it, it could go once a week. This is not just for new members but for everyone that needed to be tested from moving up in rank or getting qualified for a special [quest] or any other restriction so I was not the only newbie. Some of the people her look quite experienced and it ranges anywhere from tough looking [barbarians] covering in scars and wearing nothing but a fur skirt covering his privates and a pelt draped over his shoulder (hardcore) to what I assume is a [priest], [cleric], or some kind of [holy person] dressed in fine immaculate robes praying for assistance in their upcoming trial.

I was confident as first but over time in a room with all these more scary and more experienced I became more worried and unsure of myself. Keep myself distracted I tried to think about any topic I could think of. From an interesting fact I learnt in a book from the library to rewatching television from memory until eventually I considered going over my [Status Screen] so I decided to pull is up. What caught my surprise was the part about my newest [class].

It was a complete mess.

Is there a way to reorganize this?

{There is actually.}

Oh Alexa, there is how?

{The [System] will automatically add everything in the order they are acquired but there is no required way they have to be viewed. Just ask it to be organized in anyway you believe it would be best optimized.}

Okay, if I can reorganize it can the [stats] be ordered by type and for the [skills] separate them into three categories, one for waterbending active skills, the second for [cultivation] ones, and the last for miscellaneous passive [skills]. this would be a good basis for the future.

Good, thanks again Alexa. You're very helpful.

Once finished, it only took a few more minutes for my name to be called.

Ok, Mark, you can do this.

Exiting the waiting room revealed a small field filled with sand and off to the side includes what looked like training dummies stored next to a large collection of weapons that range from sharp spears and sturdy shields to wooden and simple staffs. The sand look recently combed over to level the surface but it still had some splotches which are a little darker than the rest with a maroon tint. Probably the result of spilt blood in the heat of battle. This made me think I may be getting myself into something I may not be ready for.

"So you're one of those that think anyone can just become an [adventurer] huh?"

A condescending voice emanated across the room. My head turned to my left and saw him. A smug looking guy in good leather armor leaned against the nearby wall a couple feet away. He looked experience but also tough like he went through and won many fights. He was not young by any means, greying at the temples and a peppering of white with his dark blue hair appeared on his face as a 5 o'clock shadow. Talking about his face, the look on it matched his voice, he looked annoyed with me here.

"Ugh, yeah. Wait no. Um, what do you mean?"

He stood up and to a step forward, "What I mean is do you really think you have what it takes to cut it out in this field of work?"

"Um, I think so, why else would I be here?"

"Well I don't think so." He says as he walks to the pile of weapons. "Many fools think that adventuring is all funs and games. A literal fun adventure where they can easily get power and fame." He takes a look through all the options that are on display. "Not realizing they are totally unprepared for what lays beyond those walls." He says as he picks up a wooden sword and points it overhead at he mentions the last bit.

He turns to me and continues, "It is my job to separate the grain from the shaft so the wilds do not do it for me." He looked down and placed the side wooden sword unto his hand and bounced it up and down. He now stares straight into my eyes, "But don't worry, I won't go too hard on you."

What happened next was a complete blur, all I knew was I did not lasted long and blacked out soon after.
