Chapter 34 - Monster Parts For Versatility and Power

One day later, Ezekiel arrived with the Skeleton Ring and gave it to Archvel without further talk, as Archvel gave twenty gold coins to Ezekiel.

"Mister Archvel, I wanted to ask you about something."

Archvel was inspecting the ring when he heard Ezekiel. He took a look at him for a second and then nodded.

Ezekiel smiled and then asked.

"I would like to know how to increase our magic control."

Archvel smiled upon hearing this question. In the dark archive, these kinds of things are given some ideas but not a direct approach, as every mage has a different kind of connection with magic, and there is no one approach to magic control.

Basically, there was no right answer.

"Tell me about your magic control and what kind of style you are using."

Ezekiel took a deep breath and started talking.

"I am using the Black Sun Magic Control tome, and our approach is to think of magic as fire and control it according to how natural fire moves."

Archvel nodded and then added.

"If you want to increase your magical control and make your fire, or black fire in your case, more powerful, you need to think in terms of fire, but not only think but also embody it and understand it in the sense of knowledge as well as nature."

"My words may come to you as confusing, but what I am trying to say in the simplest sense is basically that you need to learn more about fire; any knowledge and extra thought of understanding fire would do wonders for you."

Ezekiel murmured what he heard, and then a smile formed on his face.

"Thank you, Master Archvel; I will try to understand your words deeply when I am back."

Archvel smiled and added

"A fire does not care about when to burn or when to extinguish; you should not wait for it to burn as long as the place is okay."

Ezekiel gulped and then left the area as the words of Archvel resonated in his head.

-

After Ezekiel left the area, Archvel went back to his place and then looked deeply at the Skeleton Ring.

He smiled and then nodded.

"This will be a great addition to my power."

"Right now, my magical power only lets me control one hundred basic skeletons and six of my own sentinel skeletons."

"Still, from now on, I can travel with all my force without any problem. If I want, I can summon all of them at the same time and take them back at will."

"This is a great tool; I wonder how it was created."

Archvel stopped thinking and went on to study. He was going to learn more about skeletons and how he could improve them.

He was thinking that if he were to give tools to skeletons, such as swords and knives, it may increase their power level to some degree.

Of course, their power level will not be the same as sentinels. Each sentinel is a two-meter-tall, solid, magical creature that, in the form of a skeleton, should be able to take on more than sixty of the skeletons he created with ease if he controls them with great care and mastery.

He should be able to take on sixty to seventy of them despite losing all of them in a battle.

But of course, all of these things are calculated in his mind, and they may not be the same in a real battle. Who said that if he engaged in full-frontal combat with a hundred skeletons, he could use guerilla techniques to fight against an army, which would make six skeletons easy to destroy with no problem at all?

-

Archvel took a deep breath and started to think of different ways to create skeletons.

"So, it may be better to try some sort of monster meat or monster skulls like that to create a different kind of material."

“The quality of bones affects the power of skeletons to a higher degree, which means if the bones I use belong to a higher-level creature, the resulting skeleton would be more powerful than ordinary parts.”

"I wonder what kind of monsters live in these places."

Three days passed since he took the Skeleton Ring from Jareth and paid twenty gold coins for a material, an item worth more than three hundred gold coins in the market, as it is a level two skeleton ring instead of a level one.

In these three days, he worked for himself, in the sense of doing experiments on necromancy and other things as well as absorbing the information he found in the tomes.

He was feeling really lucky, as he has almost unlimited knowledge at his power level.

"I wonder if I did not have these resources and knowledge of the Dark Archive how things would turn out."

Archvel then took a sip of his tea and nodded.

"Yeah, it would make sense."

"In that kind of a situation, most likely, I would try to join an organization and improve my power until I reached a point in my state of power where I would need to leave the place and reach my real freedom."

"Lucky for me that I don't need to do something like that for the time being."

Archvel then closed his eyes and ordered

"Twenty skeletons, leave the Dark Archive Temple and find me monster corpses and bring them out here."

"Use any means necessary other than attacking other people or other dark mages."

With the words of Archvel, twenty skeletons randomly selected started marching out from the Dark Archive Temple using the hidden gate, as it would make simple sense.

Archvel gives the utmost importance to the fact that he needs to have his privacy all the time.

He not only protects his privacy, but he also protects himself.

If it is found out that he is sitting on a gold mine when it comes to knowledge of dark magic and magic in general, there would be organizations that would like to kill him to take over the Dark Archive Temple.

Which is not something he wants to see at all.

At this point in his life, even a small organization is something he cannot take on by himself or via his skeletons.

He believes that for himself to take on a small organization, he needs at least one year of work and more than one hundred Skeleton Sentinel-type summons that are able to fight against a mage.

"I also need a variety of different kinds of summons and creatures to help me out."

"Skeletons are good for many things, but when it comes to versatility, they are not the best."

"I need defensive, ranged, magic-user types of creatures that would help me fight against other mages."

"As well as exploration and information gathering, these types of creatures would do well."

"For a necromancer, having information about the land and the enemy is better."

"It is better for me so that I can control my army to take a side and create a strategy."
