Chapter 16 - Getting More Power - Spells

"I should start with the Corpse Investigation and Parting Book."

Archvel decided on the soft glow of candlelight illuminating the pages of the book titled

"Corpse Investigation and Parting." He opened and smiled.

"This seems interesting; it has drawings too."

The book's pages were filled with detailed illustrations depicting the human anatomy and various techniques used in post-mortem examinations.

Archvel's eyes scanned the words and images, absorbing the wealth of information presented before him.

"Dark Archive really puts great importance in these books. The details and the images are all top-notch quality."

Archvel commneted As he delved deeper into the book, he understood different things about the human body.

The book left no detail unexplored, discussing the different stages of decomposition, the effects of various causes of death on the body, and even methods to discern signs of foul play.

The text described the careful process of dissecting a corpse, emphasizing the importance of precision and a steady hand. It detailed the steps to examine each organ, noting the significance of abnormalities, injuries, and diseases that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding death.

Archvel's expression fluctuated between awe and mild discomfort.

As he continued reading, Archvel's analytical mind absorbed the information like a sponge.

"This book and the knowledge that I have gained will prove to be useful the next morning."

"I believe if not for this book, tomorrow morning my deal may be cancelled by Jareth himself in a heartbeat."

Archvel was really thankful for the knowledge that he had gathered from the Dark Archive Temple.

He starts to understand that if not for the Dark Archive, his knowledge would stay too far behind that of the mages in organizations.

"Now, I understand why almost all mages would like to enter an organization."

"The power of a mage and the stage at which it advances and gains power depend on the knowledge the mage himself or herself can gather and apply."

"Without knowledge, the mage will not advance and will be crushed by the mages from organizations."

The book provided him with a newfound perspective, equipping him with the tools to unravel the mysteries concealed within lifeless bodies.

Three hours later, Archvel was able to finish the book fully.

"I-."

"I think I feel more powerful and greater than before..."

Archvel commented, and seconds later a burst of energy manifested around his body, and his body as well as his spirit underwent a qualitative change.

Archvel looked at his choice and smiled.

"It seems like the choice is clear."

"Dark Energy Aura right now does not give me enough increase in power but gives me versatility."

"Dark Energy Burst is not going to work well on me as I already have the Dark Burst spell and am able to use it effectively."

"The best choice for me to upgrade the Conjure Skeleton is having six skeletons that I am able to conjure anytime without needing any bones or materials, which is a good basic defense and offensive power."

"If I had six skeletons when fighting against Moon Bear, they would handle it with ease."

After thinking about what he should choose, Archvel thought and then whispered.

"I choose Reward 2, Raise Skeleton Level 2."

With his thought, the choices vanished, and then his status window opened, showing him increasing.

Archvel smiled as he looked at his status.

"With this increase in my own magical power and increase in my level, I already feel a lot of power and freedom running deep inside my veins."

Archvel was able to understand that the more power he gathers, the more freedom he will have in his choices.

He was also happy that he had gained Death Investigation Level 1.

"When I read about the tome, I gained knowledge actively and liked reading and understanding something in a basic sense."

"When an ability formed and I gained Death Investigation, all I had learned solidified inside of my brain."

"It feels like I have known what I read in the tome for twenty years and used it all the time."

"But it is not the case, and it was granted to me because of the system itself."

Archvel thought as he concluded what he experienced.

He gave out a cold breath and closed his eyes as his eyes landed on the clock.

"I need to sleep for about five hours to give myself enough rest to work well tomorrow morning."

Archvel was aware of the fact that as his power increased and his level upgraded, as well as the fact that now he has a death investigation.

He is at the level to investigate a death—a murder that came from the hands of a necromancer.

He believed resting was a much better choice than trying to learn more, as he would have time when he finished gathering his materials and the mission itself.
