Spirit Vessel

Isaac who was focused on removing the necklace looked down and he was scared out of his wits.

It was not that he couldn’t remove the necklace, but contrary to that he could remove it fine and good, but on his chest there was a shape of the exact same necklace.

It looked like he had been burned by a hot iron in the shape of the necklace.

He could vividly remember that it was never there in the first place.

Rowan waved his hand around the room.

He then said with in all seriousness “Word of this should never leave this room what I am about to say is very delicate”

“Do you understand what I am saying?” he was looking at Isaac with a serious and stern gaze.

“What this necklace is a called a vessel, and it usually houses spirit in it”

“So it is called a spirit vessel and it is usually used to sign contract with a formidable figures”

“Most don’t know this, but during humanity’s darkest time we were under the rule of monsters or other races which were not humans, because they couldn’t trust us, they forged items like this one around your neck in order to reach an agreement with the important humans, so they couldn’t betray them”

“But after humans eventually became stronger, this kinds of spirit vessel s were abandoned, and only some relics remain”

“Because humans didn’t have a large sway back then, the contracts were very tasking on the humans”

“And one way to signify the contract was still intact was that it left mark like this one on your chest”

“What?!” Isaac jumped and shouted.

“But don’t worry from what I have gleaned it seems like the owner of this spirit vessel just wanted to act evilly”

“You see unlike humans, who when they are killed their spirits and souls would disappear, Monsters and other races, the strong ones amongst them could get their spirits to reside in this spirit vessel and they could take over another body for their selves”

“No wonder you had to cast purify more than twenty times before he could stabilize, it seems the spirit in this vessel had some nefarious motives, since their plan had already been foiled there is no need to worry”

“You didn’t make any sort of deal with anyone when you were unconscious right?”

Isaac shook his head vehemently.

“Sir can’t you just take away this thing from me, I could give it to you” Isaac volunteered.

“Haha, you think I wouldn’t want this, every mage would want something like a spirit vessel, it is just that finding one is not that easy” Rowan laughed lightly.

“If it is so dreadful why would people want it?” Isaac asked in confusion, why would he scare him and then tell him that every mage wanted to have something like this?

“Why do you think some people choose to willingly sign deals with monsters?”

Isaac was looking confused, he remembered Sam saying something about this but he didn’t finish it all.

Now that he thinks about it, Sam sure was knowledgeable.

“It is because there are advantages to signing the deal, depending on how strong the monster who made this spirit vessel also determines how strongly it enhances your cultivation”

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

“I believe you’ve felt how hard it is to control your stars, what if spirit vessels help you to do it faster?”

“Now do you think they are valuable?”

“You don’t know this but monsters and other races have better affinity to nature than humans, so all they have to do is to help you forge the spirit vessel with their elements and it would be easier for you to attune yourself with the said elements”

“It would be easier for you to recover your energy and if you are lucky enough that your element and the monster that made the spirit vessel are similar you will be able to easily control your element, how much value do you think it has now?”

“So why don’t you take it from me?” Isaac was still not convinced.

“Number one it seems like this was made with the dark element, I don’t practice that element neither does she” Rowan pointed to himself and then to Ms. Valerie.

“Secondly, do you think it is easy to just change the ownership of spirit vessel?”

“It isn’t?” Isaac asked in doubt.

“It is not, there is only one way to do that and that is to have the former owner of the spirit vessel die, do you want to die?”

“I absolutely don’t” Isaac said looking scared.

“We might not have a use for it, but others do and if they ever found out that you have a spirit vessel consider yourself dead, that is why I said what I am about to say does not leave this room”

“She and I wouldn’t disclose it, now it is up to you to keep your secret safe, don’t try to show off to others, you will end up dead before you realize it” Rowan warned sternly.

“Principal don’t you think it will be safer if you keep it with you? “ Isaac once again asked, the more he hears the more he feels like he would be much safer when it is no longer with him.

“Silly boy, do you think it is that easy to separate yourself from your spirit vessel? Give up that dream, it is called accompanying spirit vessel for a reason and that is because if you were to throw it into an ocean or a forest or even into fire, by the time you wake up tomorrow morning you will find it hung on your chest again”

“They are that persistent?”

“Even if you are to drop it in another country, you will feel the urge to go near that country and it will end up on your neck again, if you were to resist that urge it will find ways to end up back in your hands, this is the real meaning of till death do us part”

“We need to make sure that you are out of harms way, so you need to repeat what you did earlier that you got the spirit vessel to activate”

“Again?!” Sam asked a little scared, he did not want to come in contact with those huge eyes that looked down on everything again.

“Have you decided to give up on magic already? What about your parents? Who would save them from you?”

As soon as he heard his parents he clenched his teeth and tightened his resolve, he would have to do it by himself, there is no two ways about it.

He said with clenched teeth “I am ready!”

“Wait a few, let her finish recovering her energy before we try again, remember no matter what don’t try to fall asleep”

Soon Ms. Valerie recovered and they stood near him.

Isaac closed his eyes and entered his sea of consciousness, he then tried to control the lightning stars as instructed, he found that there was positive response from the stars immediately.

And just like the principal had said he was not as tired as before.

He soon felt his energy running low so he had to go out.

“Not bad almost five minutes, you can relax, it seems the inhabitant of that spirit vessel has already vanished and is no longer a threat, so keep calm and practice to the best of your abilities, only you could save yourself”

“You may head back to class” Rowan said with a smile.

“Shouldn’t we have an explanation for what happened, incase he gets asked!” Valerie said.

“Oh yeah that is correct, if you get questioned, this is what you should say” the principal then cooked up a story for him.

“I will explain to the teachers, all you have to do is say this to the students when they ask you about it”

“The teachers wouldn’t ask you after I explain to them, but in case they do just repeat the story to them”

Soon he made his way out of the office, all the teachers eyes were on him, but unlike before he was not that scared at all, he had no idea where he got all this confidence from.

If it was before, he would have looked down already to avoid eye contact.

The teachers stood up simultaneously and headed to the office.

Isaac soon returned to the class

All the class students immediately gathered around him to ask what happened.

Isaac made his way to the podium and looked at the class.

He then said in a loud voice “As most of you know I am the only survivor from Moonhaven, but the truth is I didn’t get out unscathed, I was cursed by a calamity level monster before I was brought away”

“That was why I kept on having nightmare for the past six months, and then it finally erupted today in an all out attack”

“I am grateful for your concerns and worries” he then walked to the back where he was seated before with all eyes on him, but he was totally calm.

“How do you know more than the Mr. Simon about history of magic?” Isaac asked Sam as soon as he sat down.

“Asks the person that says a generic lie about curses!” Sam said looking as calm as ever.
