Good Potential

The square was lit up with a myriad of vibrant colors ranging from purple, white, blue, green. all the people in the square had to squint their eyes.

“Hahahaha, my center has kids with great potential, I knew that there would be someone amongst these children who is a genius” the manager guffawed loudly.

The instructors on the stage were grinning from ear to ear, they had finally found someone who had enough potential, they could report back proudly with their heads held high.

Finding a kid with this much potential was not easy, they were obviously happy.

Even the instructor in front of Isaac was looking towards that source of light, with his back facing Isaac.

So he didn’t notice when a myriad of colors started shining on the awakening stone that Isaac’s hand was placed on.

It was so bright that it outshone all the colors that had been seen during this awakening session.

Another reason for this was because a an opaque barrier surge out from his body and covered him completely where he stood, so he was the only one seeing this marvel since he had angrily opened his eyes earlier.

But he soon had to close his eyes because there was soon a surge of different images in his head.

They started slowly and they picked up speed with time, he eventually couldn’t make out the images that he saw but the images felt like they have been branded onto his mind and he could never forget them even if he wanted to.

He immediately felt a sharp pang of pain hit his head, it seemed like his head was being split apart by an axe at the moment.

He shouted at then top of his lungs.

But all this was covered by the barrier, so no one noticed this happening.

After the light had faded away everyone anxiously looked towards the source of this commotion.

They needed to look carefully because at this moment they did not know who the source of the bright light was.

They all looked eagerly at the five kids on stage, they were hoping that they were close to the one with huge potential and hopefully they had been nice to the person so that they could take them under their wings and cater for them.

But the instructors were very clear on which kids had awakened with this huge of a potential was.

So all the kids looked towards the instructors in order to glean in on who the person was.

Their eyes all trained in on a kid who was out cold at the moment lying on the floor without a care in the world.

The kid looked like they were sleeping peacefully without any hint of concern for their safety, the kid slept like he hadn’t had a chance to sleep in months.

There was even a sound of snoring that was coming out of his mouth, with saliva mixed with it.

Sam and all the kids he shared the same room knew who was on the stage and their gaze grew more disdainful.

They knew who that kid was. Not only do they know who they were but they had even looked down on him throughout his stay in the camp.

He was none other than Isaac, whom they thought wouldn’t be able to awaken in the first place, and they have been proven to be correct at this moment.

He was the only one in this group who had fallen asleep after their awakening, which means that his potential was also below average.

He could swear that Isaac had never fallen this deeply into a sleep before since arriving in the camp.

Then the instructors turned and stared at the other four kids who were awakening together with Isaac.

There had never been a time when everyone in a group awakened with the same level of potential even though there was varying element, all the instructors felt that something was out of place but they couldn’t place their finger on it.

They then turned and looked at the only girl in the group.

She looked cute with her baby fat and big round eyes that were shining like stars, she looked lost at the moment, her eyes were closed to a slit.

She then opened them slightly to look around, she saw that all eyes were on her, so she started sweating, she was not used to being the center of attention.

She took a step back while looking flustered.

“Little sister don’t be scared, no one would harm you, what is your name?” the instructor in front of the girl who had a brooch that was fiery red and in the shape of flame asked with a warm smile on his face, he had kept a stern face since he arrived, but right now he was smiling like a completely different person.

“M-my name is Zoe” Zoe managed to stutter her name.

“Zoe, good name for a girl with talents like yourself, you must be from the western district right?” the manager said with a smile plastered on his face.

“Yes I am” Zoe nodded heavily.

“Well Zoe your life is about to change for the better, so you must work hard and not waste your potential, make your parents and siblings proud, don’t forget us when you reach the top” the manager stated.

“Stand over here Zoe” another instructor with a blue brooch said to Zoe.

They then asked the other three their names and which district they came from, then they asked them to stay with the other kids on the other side of the podium.

“We need to continue, it is almost noon, we need to be on schedule , there are other camps we need to visit before we head back” the instructor with a red brooch said seriously.

“What are you standing there for like an idiot, can’t you see this kid has fainted take him off the stage and ask the next group to step forward” the instructor with a fiery red brooch who had spoken softly to Zoe shouted at the manager.

“Right away” the manager walked up to Isaac and crouched down to pick him up.

The next batch of children walked onto the stage.

The manager came back brooding, he was made to do manual labor and carry someone useless to him.

They soon completed the awakening for all the children in this center.

At this time most of the kids with weak potential had already woken up, but they looked sad.

The most noticeable was Isaac who was still sleeping peacefully where the kids who had fallen asleep were kept.
